First reading

“This is what we proclaim, this is what you believe” (1 Cor 15:1-11)

Reading from the first letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

Brothers and sisters,

I remind you of the gospel

that I preached to you;

you received it;

in it you stand firm,

and through it you will be saved

if you hold fast to what I preached to you;

otherwise, you have believed in vain.

First of all, I delivered to you what

I also received:

that Christ died for our sins

in accordance with the Scriptures

and was buried;

that he rose again on the third day

in accordance with the Scriptures;

that he appeared to Peter, then to the Twelve;

then to more than five hundred brothers at once

—most of them are still living,

but some have fallen asleep in death—

then to James, then to all the apostles.

And last of all, he appeared to me, who is out of due time.

For I am the least of the Apostles,

and am not worthy to be called an Apostle,

because I persecuted the church of God.

But what I am,

I am by the grace of God,

and his grace, which came to me, was not unfruitful.

I have labored more than all;

but it is not I,

but the grace of God with me.

In short, whether it is me or others,

this is what we proclaim,

this is what you believe.
