“Moses died there, according to the word of the Lord. A prophet like Moses no longer arose in Israel ” 

Reading the book of Deuteronomy 34, 1-12 

In those days

    Moses ascended from the steppes of Moab to Mount Nebo,

on a peak which is opposite Jericho.

The Lord showed him all the land:

Gilead as far as Dan,

    all Naphtali, the land of Ephraim and Manasseh,

all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean,

    the Negev, the region of the Jordan,

the valley of Jericho city ​​of Palms, to Soar.

    The Lord said to him:

“This land which you see,

I have sworn to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob

to give to their descendants.

I will show it to you, but you will not enter it. " 

    Moses the servant of the Lord

died there in the land of Moab,

according to the word of the Lord.

    They buried him in the valley opposite Beth-peor,

in the land of Moab.

But even today,

no one knows where his tomb is.

    Moses was 120 years old when he died;

his eyesight had not diminished, his vitality had not diminished.

    The children of Israel mourned for Moses in the steppes of Moab

thirty days.

It was then that the days of mourning for Moses ended.

    Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom,

because Moses had laid his hands on him.

The children of Israel obeyed him,

they did as the Lord commanded Moses. 

    There no longer arose in Israel a prophet like Moses,

whom the Lord met face to face.

    What signs and wonders

the Lord had sent him to do in Egypt

before Pharaoh, all his servants, and all his land!

    With what a mighty hand, what a dreadful power,

Moses had acted in the eyes of all Israel!

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களுக்குக் கூறியது: “கோதுமை மணி மண்ணில் விழுந்து மடியாவிட்டால் அது அப்படியே இருக்கும். அது மடிந்தால்தான் மிகுந்த விளைச்சலை அளிக்கும் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

தமக்கென்றே வாழ்வோர் தம் வாழ்வை இழந்துவிடுவர். இவ்வுலகில் தம் வாழ்வைப் பொருட்டாகக் கருதாதோர் நிலைவாழ்வுக்குத் தம்மை உரியவராக்குவர்.

எனக்குத் தொண்டு செய்வோர் என்னைப் பின்பற்றட்டும். நான் இருக்கும் இடத்தில் என் தொண்டரும் இருப்பர். எனக்குத் தொண்டு செய்வோருக்குத் தந்தை மதிப்பளிக்கிறார்.”

ஆண்டவருக்கு அஞ்சி நடப்போர் பேறுபெற்றோர்; அவர்தம் கட்டளைகளில் அவர்கள் பெருமகிழ்வு அடைவர்.

அவர்களது வழிமரபு பூவுலகில் வலிமைமிக்கதாய் இருக்கும்; நேர்மையுள்ளோரின் தலைமுறை ஆசிபெறும். - பல்லவி

மனமிரங்கிக் கடன் கொடுக்கும் மனிதர் நன்மை அடைவர்; அவர்கள் தம் அலுவல்களில் நீதியுடன் செயல்படுவர்.

எந்நாளும் அவர்கள் அசைவுறார்; நேர்மையுள்ளோர் மக்கள் மனத்தில் என்றும் வாழ்வர். - பல்லவி

தீமையான செய்தி எதுவும் அவர்களை அச்சுறுத்தாது; ஆண்டவரில் நம்பிக்கை கொள்வதால் அவர்கள் இதயம் உறுதியாய் இருக்கும்.

அவர்கள் நெஞ்சம் நிலையாய் இருக்கும்; அவர்களை அச்சம் மேற்கொள்ளாது; இறுதியில் தம் எதிரிகள் அழிவதை அவர்கள் காண்பது உறுதி. - பல்லவி

அவர்கள் வாரி வழங்கினர்; ஏழைகளுக்கு ஈந்தனர்; அவர்களது நீதி என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும்; அவர்களது வலிமை மாட்சியுடன் மேலோங்கும். - பல்லவி

முகமலர்ச்சியோடு கொடுப்பவரே கடவுளின் அன்புக்கு உரியவர்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 9: 6-10

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

குறைவாக விதைப்பவர் குறைவாக அறுவடை செய்வார். நிறைவாக விதைப்பவர் நிறைவாக அறுவடை செய்வார். இதைத் தெரிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். ஒவ்வொருவரும் தம்முள் தீர்மானித்தபடியே கொடுக்கட்டும். மனவருத்தத்தோடோ கட்டாயத்தினாலோ கொடுக்க வேண்டாம். முகமலர்ச்சியோடு கொடுப்பவரே கடவுளின் அன்புக்கு உரியவர். கடவுள் உங்களை எல்லா நலன்களாலும் நிரப்ப வல்லவர். எந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலும் எப்போதும் தேவையானதெல்லாம் உங்களுக்குத் தருவார்; அனைத்து நற்செயல்களையும் செய்வதற்குத் தேவையானது எல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு மிகுதியாகவே தருவார். “ஒருவர் ஏழைகளுக்கு வாரி வாரி வழங்கும்போது அவரது நீதி என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும்” என்று மறைநூலில் எழுதியுள்ளது அல்லவா!

விதைப்பவருக்கு விதையையும், உண்பதற்கு உணவையும் வழங்குபவர், விதைப்பதற்கு வேண்டிய விதைகளை வழங்கி அவை முளைத்து வளரச்செய்து அறச்செயல்களாகிய விளைச்சலை மிகுதியாகத் தருவார்.

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘I tell you, most solemnly,

unless a wheat grain falls on the ground and dies,

it remains only a single grain;

but if it dies,

it yields a rich harvest.

Anyone who loves his life loses it;

anyone who hates his life in this world

will keep it for the eternal life.

If a man serves me, he must follow me,

wherever I am, my servant will be there too.

If anyone serves me, my Father will honour him.’

God loves a cheerful giver.

A Reading from the Second Letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 9 :6-10. 

Do not forget: thin sowing means thin reaping; the more you sow, the more you reap. Each one should give what he has decided in his own mind, not grudgingly or because he is made to, for God loves a cheerful giver. And there is no limit to the blessings which God can send you – he will make sure that you will always have all you need for yourselves in every possible circumstance, and still have something to spare for all sorts of good works. As scripture says: He was free in almsgiving, and gave to the poor: his good deeds will never be forgotten.

  The one who provides seed for the sower and bread for food will provide you with all the seed you want and make the harvest of your good deeds a larger one.
