நான் மனம் மாறிவிட்டேன் என்று சொல்வாரானால் அவரை மன்னித்துவிடுங்கள்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “பாவச் சோதனை வருவதைத் தவிர்க்க முடியாது. ஆனால் ஐயோ! அதற்குக் காரணமாய் இருப்பவருக்குக் கேடு! அவர் இச்சிறியோருள் எவரையாவது பாவத்தில் விழச்செய்வதை விட அவ்வாறு செய்பவரது கழுத்தில் ஓர் எந்திரக் கல்லைக் கட்டி அவரைக் கடலில் தள்ளிவிடுவது அவருக்கு நல்லது.

எனவே, நீங்கள் எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள். உங்களுடைய சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளுள் ஒருவர் பாவம் செய்தால் அவரைக் கடிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். அவர் மனம் மாறினால் அவரை மன்னியுங்கள். ஒரே நாளில் அவர் ஏழு முறை உங்களுக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்து ஏழு முறையும் உங்களிடம் திரும்பி வந்து, ‘நான் மனம் மாறிவிட்டேன்’ என்று சொல்வாரானால் அவரை மன்னித்துவிடுங்கள்."

திருத்தூதர்கள் ஆண்டவரிடம், “எங்கள் நம்பிக்கையை மிகுதியாக்கும்” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

அதற்கு ஆண்டவர் கூறியது: “கடுகளவு நம்பிக்கை உங்களுக்கு இருந்தால் நீங்கள் இந்தக் காட்டு அத்தி மரத்தை நோக்கி, ‘நீ வேரோடே பெயர்ந்து போய்க் கடலில் வேரூன்றி நில்’ எனக் கூறினால் அது உங்களுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியும்.”

மண்ணுலகை ஆள்பவர்களே, நீதியின்மேல் அன்பு செலுத்துங்கள்; நன்மனத்துடன் ஆண்டவரைப் பற்றி நினைந்திடுங்கள்; நேர்மையான உள்ளத்துடன் அவரைத் தேடுங்கள். அவரைச் சோதியாதோர் அவரைக் கண்டடைகின்றனர்; அவரை நம்பினோர்க்கு அவர் தம்மை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றார்.

நெறிகெட்ட எண்ணம் மனிதரைக் கடவுளிடமிருந்து பிரித்துவிடும். அவரது ஆற்றல் சோதிக்கப்படும்பொழுது, அது அறிவிலிகளை அடையாளம் காட்டிவிடும். வஞ்சனை நிறைந்த ஆன்மாவில் ஞானம் நுழைவதில்லை; பாவத்திற்கு அடிமையான உடலில் ஞானம் குடிகொள்வதில்லை. நற்பயிற்சி பெற்ற உள்ளம் வஞ்சனையினின்று விலகியோடும்; அறிவற்ற எண்ணங்களை விட்டு அகலும்; அநீதி அணுகுகையில் அது நாணி ஒதுங்கும்.

ஞானம் மனிதநேயமுள்ள ஆவி; ஆயினும் இறைவனைப் பழிப்போரை அது தண்டியாமல் விடாது. கடவுள் அவர்களுடைய உள்ளுணர்வுகளின் சாட்சி; உள்ளத்தை உள்ளவாறு உற்று நோக்குபவர்; நாவின் சொற்களைக் கேட்பவரும் அவரே. ஆண்டவரின் ஆவி உலகை நிரப்பியுள்ளது; அனைத்தையும் ஒருங்கிணைக்கும் அந்த ஆவி ஒவ்வொரு சொல்லையும் அறிகின்றது.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 17:1-6 

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to the one through whom they come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin. Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent’, you must forgive him.” The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea’, and it would obey you.”

Seek the Lord in simplicity of heart

A reading from the book of Wisdom 1:1-7 

Love righteousness, you rulers of the earth, think of the Lord with uprightness and seek him with sincerity of heart; because he is found by those who do not put him to the test and manifests himself to those who do not distrust him. For perverse thoughts separate people from God, and when his power is tested, it convicts the foolish; because wisdom will not enter a deceitful soul or dwell in a body enslaved to sin. For a holy and disciplined spirit will flee from deceit and will rise and depart from foolish thoughts and will be ashamed at the approach of unrighteousness. For wisdom is a kindly spirit and will not free a blasphemer from the guilt of his words, because God is witness of his inmost feelings and a true observer of his heart and a hearer of his tongue. Because the Spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and that which holds all things together knows what is said.
