மக்கள் கூட்டத்தைக் கண்டு, இயேசு அவர்கள் மேல் பரிவு கொண்டார்.

✠ மத்தேயு எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 9: 35- 10: 1, 6-8

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு நகர்கள், சிற்றூர்கள் எல்லாம் சுற்றிவந்தார். எங்கும் அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடங்களில் கற்பித்தார்; விண்ணரசைப் பற்றிய நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றினார்; நோய் நொடிகள் அனைத்தையும் குணமாக்கினார்.

திரண்டிருந்த மக்களை அவர் கண்டபோது அவர்கள் மேல் பரிவு கொண்டார்; அவர்கள் ஆயர் இல்லா ஆடுகளைப்போல அலைக்கழிக்கப்பட்டு சோர்ந்து காணப்பட்டார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவர் தம் சீடரை நோக்கி, “அறுவடை மிகுதி; வேலையாள்களோ குறைவு. ஆகையால் தேவையான வேலையாள்களைத் தமது அறுவடைக்கு அனுப்பும்படி அறுவடையின் உரிமையாளரிடம் மன்றாடுங்கள்” என்றார்.

இயேசு தம் சீடர் பன்னிருவரையும் தம்மிடம் வரவழைத்தார். தீய ஆவிகளை ஓட்டவும், நோய் நொடிகளைக் குணமாக்கவும் அவர்களுக்கு அதிகாரம் அளித்தார்.

இயேசு பன்னிருவருக்கும் அறிவுரையாகக் கூறியது: “வழி தவறிப்போன ஆடுகளான இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களிடமே செல்லுங்கள். அப்படிச் செல்லும்போது ‘விண்ணரசு நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது’ எனப் பறைசாற்றுங்கள். நலம் குன்றியவர்களைக் குணமாக்குங்கள்; இறந்தோரை உயிர் பெற்றெழச் செய்யுங்கள்; தொழுநோயாளரை நலமாக்குங்கள்; பேய்களை ஓட்டுங்கள்; கொடையாகப் பெற்றீர்கள்; கொடையாகவே வழங்குங்கள்.”

இஸ்ரயேலின் தூயவராம் ஆண்டவராகிய இறைவன் கூறுவது:

சீயோன்வாழ் மக்களே, எருசலேமில் குடியிருப்போரே, நீங்கள் இனி ஒருபோதும் அழமாட்டீர்கள்; அவர் உங்கள்மேல் திண்ணமாய் அருள்கூர்வார். நீங்கள் கூப்பிடும் குரலுக்குச் செவிசாய்த்து உங்களுக்கு மறுமொழி அளிப்பார்.

நீங்கள் நிலத்தில் விதைத்துள்ள விதைமீது ஆண்டவர் மழை பொழிவார்; நிலத்தின் விளைவான உணவு செழுமையாகவும் மிகுதியாகவும் இருக்கும்; அந்நாளில் உன் மந்தை பரந்த மேய்ச்சல் வெளியில் மேயும். முறத்தாலும் சுளகாலும் தூற்றப்பட்டுச் சுவையூட்டப்பட்ட தீனியை நிலத்தை உழும் காளைகளும் கழுதைகளும் தின்னும்.

கோட்டைகள் இடிந்து விழுகின்ற மிகப்பெரும் அழிவு நாளில் வானளாவிய மலைகள் அனைத்தின் மேலும் உயர்ந்த குன்றுகள் அனைத்தின் மேலும் கால்வாய்களும் நீரோடைகளும் தோன்றும். ஆண்டவர் தம் மக்களின் முறிவுகளைக் கட்டி, தாம் அடித்து ஏற்படுத்திய காயங்களைக் குணமாக்கும் நாளில், நிலவின் ஒளி கதிரவன் ஒளிபோலாகும்; கதிரவன் ஒளி ஏழு பகல்களின் ஒளி ஒன்றுதிரண்டாற் போல ஏழு மடங்காகும்.

The harvest is rich but the labourers are few

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 9:35-10:1,5,6-8 

At that time: Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every infirmity. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest.” And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction. These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received without paying; give without pay.”

The Lord God will be gracious to you and hear your cry

A reading from the book of Isaiah 30:19-21,23-26 

Thus says the Lord God, the Holy one of Israel: For a people shall dwell in Sion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself any more, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it”, when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. And he will give rain for the seed with which you sow the ground, and bread, the produce of the ground, which will be rich and plenteous. In that day your livestock will graze in large pastures, and the oxen and the donkeys that work the ground will eat seasoned fodder, which has been winnowed with shovel and fork. And on every lofty mountain and every high hill there will be brooks running with water, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

Moreover, the light of the moon will be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun will be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day when the Lord binds up the brokenness of his people, and heals the wounds inflicted by his blow.
