அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “என்னை நோக்கி, ‘ஆண்டவரே, ஆண்டவரே’ எனச் சொல்பவரெல்லாம் விண்ணரசுக்குள் செல்வதில்லை. மாறாக, விண்ணுலகிலுள்ள என் தந்தையின் திருவுளத்தின்படி செயல்படுபவரே செல்வர்.

ஆகவே, நான் சொல்லும் இவ்வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு இவற்றின்படி செயல்படுகிற எவரும் பாறைமீது தம் வீட்டைக் கட்டிய அறிவாளிக்கு ஒப்பாவார். மழை பெய்தது; ஆறு பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடியது; பெருங்காற்று வீசியது; அவை அவ்வீட்டின்மேல் மோதியும் அது விழவில்லை. ஏனெனில் பாறையின்மீது அதன் அடித்தளம் இடப்பட்டிருந்தது.

நான் சொல்லும் இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு இவற்றின்படி செயல்படாத எவரும் மணல்மீது தம் வீட்டைக் கட்டிய அறிவிலிக்கு ஒப்பாவார். மழை பெய்தது; ஆறு பெருக்கெடுத்து ஓடியது; பெருங்காற்று வீசியது; அவை அவ்வீட்டைத் தாக்க, அது விழுந்தது; இவ்வாறு பேரழிவு நேர்ந்தது.”

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 7:21,24-27 

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came,

and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

A reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah 26:1-6 

In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city; he sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks.

Open the gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord for ever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. For he has humbled the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He lays it low, lays it low to the ground, casts it to the dust. The foot tramples it, the feet of the poor, the steps of the needy.”
