ஒளியின் மக்களைவிட இவ்வுலகின் மக்கள் முன்மதியுள்ளவர்களாய் நடந்து கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்.

✠ லூக்கா எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 16: 1-8

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடருக்குக் கூறியது: “செல்வர் ஒருவருக்கு வீட்டுப் பொறுப்பாளர் ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவர் தம் தலைவரின் உடைமைகளைப் பாழாக்கியதாக அவர்மீது பழி சுமத்தப்பட்டது.

தலைவர் அவரைக் கூப்பிட்டு, ‘உம்மைப் பற்றி நான் கேள்விப்படுவது என்ன? உம் பொறுப்பிலுள்ள கணக்கை ஒப்படையும். நீர் இனி வீட்டுப் பொறுப்பாளராய் இருக்க முடியாது’ என்று அவரிடம் கூறினார்.

அந்த வீட்டுப் பொறுப்பாளர், ‘நான் என்ன செய்வேன்? வீட்டுப் பொறுப்பிலிருந்து என் தலைவர் என்னை நீக்கிவிடப்போகிறாரே! மண் வெட்டவோ என்னால் இயலாது; இரந்து உண்ணவும் வெட்கமாய் இருக்கிறது. வீட்டுப் பொறுப்பிலிருந்து என்னை நீக்கிவிடும்போது பிறர் என்னைத் தங்கள் வீடுகளில் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி நான் என்ன செய்ய வேண்டும் என எனக்குத் தெரியும்’ என்று அவர் தமக்குள்ளே சொல்லிக் கொண்டார்.

பின்பு அவர் தம் தலைவரிடம் கடன்பட்டவர்களை ஒவ்வொருவராக வரவழைத்தார். முதலாவது வந்தவரிடம், ‘நீர் என் தலைவரிடம் எவ்வளவு கடன்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்?’ என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர், ‘நூறு குடம் எண்ணெய்’ என்றார். வீட்டுப் பொறுப்பாளர் அவரிடம், ‘இதோ உம் கடன் சீட்டு; உட்கார்ந்து ஐம்பது என்று உடனே எழுதும்’ என்றார். பின்பு அடுத்தவரிடம், ‘நீர் எவ்வளவு கடன்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்?’ என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவர், ‘நூறு மூடை கோதுமை’ என்றார். அவர், ‘இதோ, உம் கடன் சீட்டு; எண்பது என்று எழுதும்’ என்றார்.

நேர்மையற்ற அந்த வீட்டுப் பொறுப்பாளர் முன்மதியோடு செயல் பட்டதால், தலைவர் அவரைப் பாராட்டினார். ஏனெனில், ஒளியின் மக்களை விட இவ்வுலகின் மக்கள் தங்கள் தலைமுறையினரிடத்தில் மிக்க முன்மதியுள்ளவர்களாய் நடந்து கொள்ளுகிறார்கள்.”

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் உரோமையருக்கு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 15: 14-21

என் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, நீங்கள் நன்னயம் நிறைந்தவர்களாயும், எல்லா அறிவும் நிரம்பப் பெற்றவர்களாயும், ஒருவர் மற்றவரை அறிவுறுத்தக் கூடியவர்களாயும் இருக்கிறீர்கள் என நான் உறுதியாக நம்புகிறேன். ஆயினும் உங்களுக்கு நினைவூட்டும் வகையில் சிலவற்றை இக்கடிதத்தில் மிகத் துணிவோடு எழுதியுள்ளேன். நான் கடவுளின் அருளைப் பெற்றவன் என்பதால்தான் அவ்வாறு எழுதினேன். அந்த அருள்தான் என்னைப் பிற இனத்தாருக்குப் பணி செய்யக் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் ஊழியனாக்கிற்று. பிற இனத்தார் தூய ஆவியால் அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்ட, கடவுளுக்கு உகந்த காணிக்கையாகும்படி அவர்களுக்குக் கடவுளின் நற்செய்தியை அறிவிப்பதே என் குருத்துவப் பணி.

ஆகையால், கடவுளுக்காகச் செய்யும் இந்தப் பணியை முன்னிட்டு, கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குரியவனாகிய நான் பெருமை பாராட்டிக்கொள்ள இடமுண்டு. பிற இனத்தார் தமக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியும் பொருட்டுக் கிறிஸ்து என் வழியாய்ச் சொல்லாலும் செயலாலும், அரும் அடையாளங்கள், அருஞ் செயல்களின் வல்லமையாலும், கடவுளின் ஆவியின் வல்லமையாலும் செய்து முடித்தவற்றைத் தவிர வேறெதைப் பற்றியும் பேச நான் துணியமாட்டேன். இவ்வாறு, எருசலேம் தொடங்கி இல்லிரிக்கம் மாநிலம் வரை எங்கும் சுற்றிக் கிறிஸ்துவின் நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கும் பணியை முடித்துவிட்டேன்.

கிறிஸ்துவின் பெயரைக் கேள்விப்படாத இடங்களில் மட்டும் நற்செய்தி அறிவிப்பதே என் நோக்கமாய் இருந்தது. ஏனெனில் வேறொருவர் இட்ட அடித்தளத்தின்மேல் கட்டி எழுப்ப நான் விரும்பவில்லை. ஆனால், “தங்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்படாததை அவர்கள் காண்பர்; தாங்கள் கேள்விப் படாததை அவர்கள் புரிந்துகொள்வர்.”

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 16:1-8.

At that time: Jesus said to the disciples, “There was a rich man who had a manager, and charges were brought to him that this man was wasting his possessions. And he called him and said to him, ‘What is this that I hear about you? Turn in the account of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’ And the manager said to himself, ‘What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig, and I am ashamed to beg. I have decided what to do, so that when I am removed from management, people may receive me into their houses.’ So, summoning his master’s debtors one by one, he said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ ‘He said, ‘A hundred measures of oil.’ “He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ He said, ‘A hundred measures of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ The master commended the dishonest manager for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with their own generation than the sons of light.”

A reading from the letter of St.Paul to the Romans 15: 14-21.

I myself am satisfied about you, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge and able to instruct one another. But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. For I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me to bring the Gentiles to obedience — by word and deed, by the power of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God — so that from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation, but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.”
