நீங்கள் உலகிற்கு ஒளியாய் இருக்கிறீர்கள்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “நீங்கள் மண்ணுலகிற்கு உப்பாய் இருக்கிறீர்கள். உப்பு உவர்ப்பற்றுப் போனால் எதைக் கொண்டு அதை உவர்ப்புள்ளதாக்க முடியும்? அது வெளியில் கொட்டப்பட்டு மனிதரால் மிதிபடும்; வேறு ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாது.

நீங்கள் உலகிற்கு ஒளியாய் இருக்கிறீர்கள். மலைமேல் இருக்கும் நகர் மறைவாயிருக்க முடியாது. எவரும் விளக்கை ஏற்றி மரக்காலுக்குள் வைப்பதில்லை; மாறாக விளக்குத் தண்டின் மீதே வைப்பர். அப்பொழுதுதான் அது வீட்டில் உள்ள அனைவருக்கும் ஒளி தரும். இவ்வாறே உங்கள் ஒளி மனிதர்முன் ஒளிர்க!

அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் உங்கள் நற்செயல்களைக் கண்டு உங்கள் விண்ணகத் தந்தையைப் போற்றிப் புகழ்வார்கள்.”

உங்கள் ஒளி மனிதர்முன் ஒளிர்க! அப்பொழுது மக்கள் உங்கள் நற்செயல்களைக் கண்டு உங்கள் விண்ணகத் தந்தையைப் போற்றிப் புகழ்வார்கள். அல்லேலூயா.

இயேசு கிறிஸ்து ‘ஆம்’ என உண்மையையே பேசுபவர்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 18-22

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

நான் ஒரே நேரத்தில் ‘ஆம்’ என்றும் ‘இல்லை’ என்றும் உங்களிடம் பேசுவதில்லை. கடவுள் உண்மையுள்ளவராய் இருப்பதுபோல் நான் சொல்வதும் உண்மையே. நானும் சில்வானும் திமொத்தேயுவும் உங்களிடையே இருந்தபோது நாங்கள் அறிவித்த இறைமகன் இயேசு கிறிஸ்து ஒரே நேரத்தில் ‘ஆம்’ என்றும் ‘இல்லை’ என்றும் பேசுபவர் அல்ல. மாறாக அவர் ‘ஆம்’ என உண்மையையே பேசுபவர். அவர் சொல்லும் ‘ஆம்’ வழியாக, கடவுள் அருளும் எல்லா வாக்குறுதிகளும் நிறைவேறுகின்றன. அதனால்தான் நாம் கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழும்போது அவர் வழியாக ‘ஆமென்’ எனச் சொல்லுகிறோம்.

கடவுளே எங்களை உங்களோடு சேர்த்துள்ளார்; இவ்வாறு கிறிஸ்துவோடு நமக்கு இருக்கும் உறவை அவர் உறுதிப்படுத்துகிறார். அவரே நமக்கு அருள்பொழிவு செய்துள்ளார். அவரே நம் மீட்பை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் அடையாளமாகத் தூய ஆவியை நம் உள்ளத்தில் பொழிந்து நம்மீது தம் முத்திரையைப் பதித்தார்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 5:13-16 

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, what can make it salty again? It is good for nothing, and can only be thrown out to be trampled underfoot by men.

  ‘You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill-top cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp to put it under a tub; they put it on the lamp-stand where it shines for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine in the sight of men, so that, seeing your good works, they may give the praise to your Father in heaven.’

A Reading from the Second letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 1:18-22

I swear by God’s truth, there is no Yes and No about what we say to you. The Son of God, the Christ Jesus that we proclaimed among you – I mean Silvanus and Timothy and I – was never Yes and No: with him it was always Yes, and however many the promises God made, the Yes to them all is in him. That is why it is ‘through him’ that we answer Amen to the praise of God. Remember it is God himself who assures us all, and you, of our standing in Christ, and has anointed us, marking us with his seal and giving us the pledge, the Spirit, that we carry in our hearts.
