கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழ அன்னியராகிய உம்மைத் தவிர வேறு எவரும் திரும்பிவரக் காணோமே!

✠ லூக்கா எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 17: 11-19

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு எருசலேமுக்குப் போய்க்கொண்டிருந்தபோது கலிலேய, சமாரியப் பகுதிகள் வழியாகச் சென்றார்.

ஓர் ஊருக்குள் வந்தபொழுது, பத்துத் தொழுநோயாளர்கள் அவருக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வந்து, தூரத்தில் நின்றுகொண்டே, “ஐயா! இயேசுவே, எங்களுக்கு இரங்கும்” என்று உரக்கக் குரலெழுப்பி வேண்டினார்கள்.

அவர் அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “நீங்கள் போய் உங்களைக் குருக்களிடம் காண்பியுங்கள்” என்றார். அவ்வாறே அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப் போகும் போது அவர்கள் நோய் நீங்கிற்று.

அவர்களுள் ஒருவர் தம் பிணி தீர்ந்திருப்பதைக் கண்டு உரத்த குரலில் கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்துகொண்டே இயேசுவிடம் திரும்பி வந்தார்; அவருடைய காலில் முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து அவருக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தினார். அவரோ ஒரு சமாரியர்.

இயேசு அவரைப் பார்த்து, “பத்துப் பேர்களின் நோயும் நீங்கவில்லையா? மற்ற ஒன்பது பேர் எங்கே? கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழ அன்னியராகிய உம்மைத் தவிர வேறு எவரும் திரும்பிவரக் காணோமே!” என்றார்.

பின்பு அவரிடம், “எழுந்து செல்லும், உமது நம்பிக்கை உமக்கு நலமளித்தது” என்றார்.

அன்பிற்குரியவரே,

தாவீதின் மரபில் வந்த இயேசு கிறிஸ்து இறந்து உயிர் பெற்று எழுந்தார் என்பதே என் நற்செய்தி. இதனை நினைவில் கொள். இந்நற்செய்திக்காகவே நான் குற்றம் செய்தவனைப் போலச் சிறையிடப்பட்டுத் துன்புறுகிறேன். ஆனால் கடவுளின் வார்த்தையைச் சிறைப்படுத்த முடியாது. தேர்ந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்கள் மீட்பையும் அதனோடு இணைந்த என்றுமுள்ள மாட்சியையும் கிறிஸ்து இயேசு வழியாக அடையுமாறு அனைத்தையும் பொறுத்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.

பின்வரும் கூற்று நம்பத் தகுந்தது: ‘நாம் அவரோடு இறந்தால், அவரோடு வாழ்வோம்; அவரோடு நிலைத்திருந்தால், அவரோடு ஆட்சி செய்வோம்; நாம் அவரை மறுதலித்தால், அவர் நம்மை மறுதலிப்பார். நாம் நம்பத் தகாதவரெனினும் அவர் நம்பத் தகுந்தவர். ஏனெனில் தம்மையே மறுதலிக்க அவரால் இயலாது.’ இவற்றை நீ அவர்களுக்கு நினைவுறுத்து.

நாமான் கடவுளின் அடியவரிடம் திரும்பி வந்து ஆண்டவரை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்.

அரசர்கள் இரண்டாம் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 5: 14-17

அந்நாள்களில் நாமான் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று கடவுளின் அடியவரது வாக்கிற்கிணங்க யோர்தானில் ஏழுமுறை மூழ்கியெழ, அவர் நலமடைந்தார். அவரது உடல் சிறு பிள்ளையின் உடலைப் போல் மாறினது.

பின்பு அவர் தம் பரிவாரம் அனைத்துடன் கடவுளின் அடியவரிடம் திரும்பி வந்து,“இஸ்ரயேலைத் தவிர வேறு எந்த நாட்டிலும் கடவுள் இல்லையென இப்போது உறுதியாக அறிந்து கொண்டேன். இதோ, உம் அடியான்! எனது அன்பளிப்பை ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளும்” என்றார்.

அதற்கு எலிசா, “நான் பணியும் வாழும் ஆண்டவர்மேல் ஆணை! நான் எதையும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளேன்” என்றார். நாமான் எவ்வளவோ வற்புறுத்தியும் அவர் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை.

அப்பொழுது நாமான் அவரை நோக்கி, “சரி, அப்படியே ஆகட்டும். ஆயினும் ஒரு சிறு வேண்டுகோள்; இரு கழுதைப் பொதி அளவு மண்ணை இங்கிருந்து எடுத்துச் செல்ல உம் அடியானுக்கு அனுமதி தாரும். இனிமேல் உம் அடியானாகிய நான் ஆண்டவரைத் தவிர வேறு தெய்வங்களுக்கு எரிபலியோ வேறு பலியோ ஒருபோதும் செலுத்தமாட்டேன்” என்றார்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 17:11-19 

On the way to Jerusalem Jesus was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”

A Reading from the Second Letter of St.Paul to Timothy 2 : 8-13 

Beloved: Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my Gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. The saying is trustworthy, for: If we have died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful - for he cannot deny himself.

A Reading from the Second Book of  Kings 5 :14-17 

In those days: Naaman the Syrian went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. Then he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and he came and stood before him; and he said, “Behold, I know that there is no God in all the earth but in Israel; so accept now a present from your servant.” But he said, “As the Lord lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none.” And he urged him to take it, but he refused. Then Naaman said, “If not, please let there be given to your servant two mule-loads of earth, for from now on your servant will not offer burnt offering or sacrifice to any god but the Lord.”
