'Let us make man in our own image'

A Reading from the Book of Genesis 1:20-2:4. 

God said, ‘Let the waters teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth within the vault of heaven.’ And so it was. God created great sea-serpents and every kind of living creature with which the waters teem, and every kind of winged creature. God saw that it was good. God blessed them, saying, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the waters of the seas; and let the birds multiply upon the earth.’ Evening came and morning came: the fifth day.

  God said, ‘Let the earth produce every kind of living creature: cattle, reptiles, and every kind of wild beast.’ And so it was. God made every kind of wild beast, every kind of cattle, and every kind of land reptile. God saw that it was good.

  God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild beasts and all the reptiles that crawl upon the earth.’

God created man in the image of himself,

in the image of God he created him,

male and female he created them.

God blessed them, saying to them, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and conquer it. Be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven and all living animals on the earth.’ God said, ‘See, I give you all the seed-bearing plants that are upon the whole earth, and all the trees with seed-bearing fruit; this shall be your food. To all wild beasts, all birds of heaven and all living reptiles on the earth I give all the foliage of plants for food.’ And so it was. God saw all he had made, and indeed it was very good. Evening came and morning came: the sixth day.

  Thus heaven and earth were completed with all their array. On the seventh day God completed the work he had been doing. He rested on the seventh day after all the work he had been doing. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on that day he had rested after all his work of creating.

  Such were the origins of heaven and earth when they were created.

இயேசுவைத் தொட்ட அனைவரும் நலமடைந்தனர். 

மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 53-56 

இயேசுவும் அவருடைய சீடர்களும் மறு கரைக்குச் சென்று கெனசரேத்துப் பகுதியை அடைந்து படகைக் கட்டி நிறுத்தினார்கள். அவர்கள் படகை விட்டு இறங்கிய உடனே, மக்கள் இயேசுவை இன்னார் என்று கண்டுணர்ந்து, அச்சுற்றுப்பகுதி எங்கும் ஓடிச் சென்று, அவர் இருப்பதாகக் கேள்விப்பட்ட இடங்களுக்கெல்லாம் நோயாளர்களைப் படுக்கையில் கொண்டு வரத் தொடங்கினார்கள். மேலும் அவர் சென்ற ஊர்கள், நகர்கள், பட்டிகள் அனைத்திலும் உடல் நலம் குன்றியோரைப் பொது இடங்களில் கிடத்தி, அவருடைய மேலுடையின் ஓரத்தையாவது அவர்கள் தொட அனுமதிக்குமாறு அவரை வேண்டினார்கள். அவரைத் தொட்ட அனைவரும் நலமடைந்தனர். 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.

1 என் உயிரே! ஆண்டவரைப் போற்றிடு! என் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரே!

நீர் எத்துணை மேன்மைமிக்கவர்! நீர் மாண்பையும் மாட்சியையும் அணிந்துள்ளவர்.

2 பேரொளியை ஆடையென அணிந்துள்ளவர்; வான்வெளியைக் கூடாரமென விரித்துள்ளவர். -பல்லவி 

5 நீவிர் பூவுலகை அதன் அடித்தளத்தின்மீது நிலைநாட்டினீர்;

அது என்றென்றும் அசைவுறாது.

6 அதனை ஆழ்கடல் ஆடையென மூடியிருந்தது;

மலைகளுக்கும் மேலாக நீர்த்திரள் நின்றது. -பல்லவி 

10 பள்ளத்தாக்குகளில் நீரூற்றுகள் சுரக்கச் செய்கின்றீர்;

அவை மலைகளிடையே பாய்ந்தோடும்.

12 நீரூற்றுகளின் அருகில் வானத்துப் பறவைகள் கூடுகட்டிக் கொள்கின்றன;

அவை மரக்கிளைகளினின்று இன்னிசை இசைக்கின்றன. -பல்லவி 

24 ஆண்டவரே! உம் வேலைப்பாடுகள் எத்தனை எத்தனை!

நீர் அனைத்தையும் ஞானத்தோடு செய்துள்ளீர்!

பூவுலகம் உம் படைப்புகளால் நிறைந்துள்ளது.

35 என் உயிரே! நீ ஆண்டவரைப் போற்றிடு! -பல்லவி 

நற்செய்திக்கு முன் வாழ்த்தொலி 

அல்லேலூயா, அல்லேலூயா! இயேசு விண்ணரசு பற்றிய நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றினார்; மக்களிடையே இருந்த நோய் நொடிகள் அனைத்தையும் குணமாக்கினார். அல்லேலூயா.

முதல் வாசகம் 

கடவுள் உரைத்தார்: அஃது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. 

தொடக்க நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 1-19 

தொடக்கத்தில் கடவுள் விண்ணுலகையும், மண்ணுலகையும் படைத்தபொழுது, மண்ணுலகு உருவற்று வெறுமையாக இருந்தது. ஆழத்தின் மீது இருள் பரவியிருந்தது. நீர்த்திரளின்மேல் கடவுளின் ஆவி அசைந்தாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தது. அப்பொழுது கடவுள், ``ஒளி தோன்றுக!'' என்றார்; ஒளி தோன்றிற்று. கடவுள் ஒளி நல்லது என்று கண்டார். கடவுள் ஒளியையும் இருளையும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரித்தார். கடவுள் ஒளிக்குப் `பகல்' என்றும் இருளுக்கு `இரவு' என்றும் பெயரிட்டார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று முதல் நாள் முடிந்தது. அப்பொழுது கடவுள், ``நீர்த்திரளுக்கு இடையில், வானம் தோன்றுக! அது நீரினின்று நீரைப் பிரிக்கட்டும்'' என்றார். கடவுள் வானத்தை உருவாக்கி வானத்திற்குக் கீழுள்ள நீரையும் வானத்திற்கு மேலுள்ள நீரையும் பிரித்தார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. கடவுள் வானத்திற்கு `விண்ணுலகம்' என்று பெயரிட்டார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று இரண்டாம் நாள் முடிந்தது. அப்பொழுது கடவுள், ``விண்ணுலகுக்குக் கீழுள்ள நீர் எல்லாம் ஓரிடத்தில் ஒன்றுசேர உலர்ந்த தரை தோன்றுக!'' என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. கடவுள் உலர்ந்த தரைக்கு `நிலம்' என்றும் ஒன்றுதிரண்ட நீருக்குக் `கடல்' என்றும் பெயரிட்டார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். அப்பொழுது கடவுள், ``புற்பூண்டுகளையும் விதை தரும் செடிகளையும், கனி தரும் பழமரங்களையும் அந்த அந்த இனத்தின்படியே நிலம் விளைவிக்கட்டும்'' என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. புற்பூண்டுகளையும் விதையைப் பிறப்பிக்கும் செடிகளையும் கனிதரும் மரங்களையும் அந்த அந்த இனத்தின்படி நிலம் விளைவித்தது. கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று மூன்றாம் நாள் முடிந்தது. அப்பொழுது கடவுள், ``பகலையும் இரவையும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரிப்பதற்கும் காலங்கள், நாள்கள், ஆண்டுகள் ஆகியவற்றைக் குறிப்பதற்கும் விண்விரிவினில் ஒளிப்பிழம்புகள் தோன்றுக! அவை மண்ணுலகிற்கு ஒளி தர விண்விரிவினில் ஒளிப்பிழம்புகளாக இருக்கட்டும்'' என்றார். அது அவ்வாறே ஆயிற்று. கடவுள் இருபெரும் ஒளிப்பிழம்புகளை உருவாக்கினார். பகலை ஆள்வதற்குப் பெரிய ஒளிப்பிழம்பையும், இரவை ஆள்வதற்குச் சிறிய ஒளிப்பிழம்பையும் மற்றும் விண்மீன்களையும் அவர் உருவாக்கினார். கடவுள் மண்ணுலகிற்கு ஒளி தர விண்ணுலக வானத்தில் அவற்றை அமைத்தார்; பகலையும் இரவையும் ஆள்வதற்கும் ஒளியையும் இருளையும் வெவ்வேறாகப் பிரிப்பதற்கும் அவற்றை அமைத்தார். கடவுள் அது நல்லது என்று கண்டார். மாலையும் காலையும் நிறைவுற்று நான்காம் நாள் முடிந்தது. 

இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

"All those who touched the fringe of his coat were saved" 

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to  Mark (6, 53-56) 

At that time, after crossing, landing at Gennesareth Jesus and his disciples landed. They got out of the boat, and immediately the people recognized Jesus: they traveled all over the region, and began to bring the sick on stretchers to where we heard that Jesus was. And in all the places he went, in villages, towns or countryside, the infirm were placed in the squares. They begged him to let them touch even the fringe of his coat. And all who touched her were saved. 

The Gospel of the Lord

FIRST READING 

“God says. And so it was " 

from the book of Genesis (1, 1-19) 

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the abyss, and the breath of God hovered above the waters.

God said, "Let there be light. " And there was light. God saw that the light was good, and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day", he called the darkness "night". There was evening, there was morning: first day.

And God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters." God made the firmament, he divided the waters which were below the firmament and the waters above. And so it was. God called the firmament "sky". There was evening, there was morning: second day.

And God said, "The waters which are under the heaven, let them be gathered together in one place, and let the dry land appear." And so it was. God called the dry land “earth”, and he called the bulk of the water “sea”. And God saw that it was good.

God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the plant which bears his seed, and let the fruit tree on the earth bear, after his kind, the fruit which bears his seed." And so it was. The earth brought forth grass, and the plant which bears his seed after its kind, and the tree which bears the fruit which bears his seed after his kind. And God saw that it was good. There was evening, there was morning: the third day.

And God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the sky, to separate the day from the night; that they serve as signs to mark feasts, days and years; and let them be lights to light up the earth in the firmament of the sky. And so it was. God made the two great lights: the larger to rule in the daytime, the smaller to rule in the night; he also made the stars. God placed them in the firmament of the sky to give light on the earth, to rule day and night, to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. There was evening, there was morning: the fourth day.
