I want to praise the Lord

as long as I live,

sing my hymns for my God

as long as I last. R 

Happy is he who leans on the God of Jacob,

who puts his hope in the Lord his God,

he who made heaven and earth

and sea and all that they contain! R 

He keeps his faithfulness forever;

he does justice to the oppressed,

to the hungry, he gives bread;

the Lord looses the chained. R 

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind,

the Lord raises the weighed down,

the Lord loves the righteous,

the Lord protects the stranger. R

FIRST READING 

"Christ became poor because of you" 

A Reading from the second letter of Saint Paul the apostle to the Corinthians (8, 1-9) 

Brothers, we want to share with you the grace that God has given to the Churches of Macedonia. In the many distresses which put them to the test, the abundance of their joy and their extreme poverty overflowed in treasures of generosity. They put all their means into it, and even more, I am witnessing; spontaneously, with great insistence, they asked us as a grace to be able to unite with us to help the faithful in Jerusalem. Even beyond our expectations, they gave themselves first to the Lord, and then to us, by the will of God. And as Titus had already started this generous work with you, we asked him to go to the end. Since you have everything in abundance, faith, the Word, the knowledge of God, all kind of eagerness and the love that comes to you from us, may there also be abundance in your generous gift! This is not an order that I am giving, but I am talking about the eagerness of others to verify the authenticity of your charity. You know in fact the generous gift of our Lord Jesus Christ: he who is rich, he became poor because of you, so that you might become rich through his poverty.

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “ ‘கண்ணுக்குக் கண்', ‘பல்லுக்குப் பல்’ என்று கூறப்பட்டிருப்பதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள். ஆனால் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: தீமை செய்பவரை எதிர்க்க வேண்டாம். மாறாக, உங்களை வலக் கன்னத்தில் அறைபவருக்கு மறு கன்னத்தையும் திருப்பிக் காட்டுங்கள். ஒருவர் உங்களுக்கு எதிராக வழக்குத் தொடுத்து, உங்கள் அங்கியை எடுத்துக்கொள்ள விரும்பினால் உங்கள் மேலுடையையும் அவர் எடுத்துக்கொள்ள விட்டுவிடுங்கள். எவராவது உங்களை ஒரு கல் தொலை வரக் கட்டாயப்படுத்தினால் அவரோடு இரு கல் தொலை செல்லுங்கள். உங்களிடம் கேட்கிறவருக்குக் கொடுங்கள்; கடன் வாங்க விரும்புகிறவருக்கு முகம் கோணாதீர்கள்.”

நாங்கள் கடவுளின் பணியாளர்கள் என்பதை எங்கள் நடத்தையால் காட்டுகிறோம்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய இரண்டாம் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 1-10

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

நீங்கள் கடவுளிடமிருந்து பெற்றுக்கொண்ட அருளை வீணாக்க வேண்டாம் என அவரோடு இணைந்து உழைக்கும் நாங்கள் கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறோம். “தகுந்த வேளையில் நான் உமக்குப் பதிலளித்தேன்; விடுதலை நாளில் உமக்குத் துணையாய் இருந்தேன்” எனக் கடவுள் கூறுகிறார். இதுவே தகுந்த காலம்! இன்றே மீட்பு நாள்!

எவரும் குறைகூறா வண்ணம் எங்கள் திருப்பணியை ஆற்ற விரும்புகிறோம். எனவே நாங்கள் எவருக்கும் இடையூறாக இருப்பதில்லை. மாறாக அனைத்துச் சூழ்நிலைகளிலும் நாங்கள் கடவுளின் பணியாளர்கள் என்பதை எங்கள் நடத்தையால் காட்டுகிறோம்; வேதனை, இடர், நெருக்கடி ஆகியவற்றை மிகுந்த மன உறுதியோடு தாங்கி வருகிறோம். நாங்கள் அடிக்கப்பட்டோம்; சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டோம்; குழப்பங்களில் சிக்கினோம்; பாடுபட்டு உழைத்தோம்; கண்விழித்திருந்தோம்; பட்டினி கிடந்தோம்; தூய்மை, அறிவு, பொறுமை, நன்மை, தூய ஆவியின் கொடைகள், வெளிவேடமற்ற அன்பு ஆகியவற்றைக் கொண்டிருக் கிறோம்; உண்மையையே பேசி வருகிறோம்; கடவுளின் வல்லமையைப் பெற்றிருக்கிறோம். நேர்மையே எங்கள் படைக்கலம். அதை வலக்கையிலும் இடக்கையிலும் நாங்கள் தாங்கியுள்ளோம். போற்றுவார் போற்றலும் தூற்றுவார் தூற்றலும் எங்களுக்கு ஒரு பொருட்டல்ல; புகழுவார் புகழலும் இகழுவார் இகழலும் எங்களைப் பாதிப்பதில்லை.

ஏமாற்றுவோர் என அவர்களுக்குத் தோன்றினாலும் நாங்கள் உண்மையான பணியாளர்கள். அறிமுகமில்லாதோர் எனத் தோன்றினாலும் எல்லாரும் எங்களை அறிவர். செத்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவர்கள் எனத் தோன்றினாலும் நாங்கள் வாழ்ந்துகொண்டு இருக்கிறோம். கொடுமையாகத் தண்டிக்கப்பட்டோர் எனத் தோன்றினாலும் நாங்கள் கொல்லப்படவில்லை. துயருற்றோர் எனத் தோன்றினாலும் நாங்கள் எப்போதும் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கிறோம். ஏழையர் எனத் தோன்றினாலும் நாங்கள் பலரைச் செல்வராக்குகிறோம். எதுவும் இல்லாதவர் எனத் தோன்றினாலும் நாங்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும் பெற்றிருக்கிறோம்.

En ce temps-là, Jésus disait à ses disciples : « Vous avez appris qu’il a été dit : Œil pour œil, et dent pour dent. Eh bien ! moi, je vous dis de ne pas riposter au méchant ; mais si quelqu’un te gifle sur la joue droite, tends-lui encore l’autre. Et si quelqu’un veut te poursuivre en justice et prendre ta tunique, laisse-lui encore ton manteau. Et si quelqu’un te réquisitionne pour faire mille pas, fais-en deux mille avec lui. À qui te demande, donne ; à qui veut t’emprunter, ne tourne pas le dos ! »
