“She called his name Moses, saying, 'I brought him out of the waters.' Now the day came when Moses, who had grown up, went to his brothers ” 

A Reading from the book of Exodus (2, 1-15a) 

In those days, a man from the tribe of Levi had married a woman from the same tribe. She became pregnant, and she gave birth to a son. Seeing that he was handsome, she hid him for three months. When it was impossible for her to keep it hidden any longer, she took a basket of rushes, which she smeared with bitumen and tar. She placed the child there, and placed the basket on the banks of the Nile, among the reeds. The child's sister stood at a distance to see what was to come; Pharaoh's daughter came down to the river to bathe there, while her attendants strolled along the shore. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her maid to take it. She opened it and saw the child. He was a little boy, he was crying. She took pity on him and said, “He is a child of the Hebrews. Looking around and seeing no one, he struck the Egyptian to death and buried him in the sand. The next day he went out again: behold, two Hebrews were fighting. He said to the abuser, "Why are you hitting your mate? The man replied, "Who made you ruler and judge over us?" Do you want to kill me like you killed the Egyptian? »Moses was afraid and said to himself:« No doubt, the thing is known. Pharaoh was informed and sought to have Moses killed. அந்நாள்களில்

யோசேப்பை முன்பின் அறிந்திராத புதிய மன்னன் ஒருவன் எகிப்தில் தோன்றினான். அவன் தன் குடிமக்களை நோக்கி, “இதோ, இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களினம் நம்மைவிடப் பெருந்தொகையதாயும் ஆள்பலம் வாய்ந்ததாயும் உள்ளது. அவர்கள் எண்ணிக்கையில் பெருகிடாதவாறு தந்திரமாய்ச் செயல்படுவோம், வாருங்கள். ஏனெனில் போர் ஏற்படுமாயின், அவர்கள் நம் எதிரிகளுடன் சேர்ந்துகொள்வர்; நம்மை எதிர்த்துப் போரிடுவர்; இந்நாட்டிலிருந்தும் வெளியேறிவிடுவர்” என்று கூறினான்.

எனவே கடும் வேலையால் அவர்களை ஒடுக்குவதற்காக அடிமை வேலை வாங்கும் அதிகாரிகள் அவர்கள் மேல் நியமிக்கப்பட்டனர். பார்வோனுக்காக அவர்கள் பித்தோம், இராம்சேசு ஆகிய களஞ்சிய நகர்களைக் கட்டியெழுப்பினர். ஆயினும் எத்துணைக்கு எகிப்தியர் அவர்களை ஒடுக்கினார்களோ, அத்துணைக்கு அவர்கள் எண்ணிக்கையில் உயர்ந்தனர்; பெருகிப் பரவினர். இதனால் எகிப்தியர் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களைக் கண்டு அச்சமுற்றனர். எகிப்தியர் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களைக் கொடுமைப்படுத்தி வேலை வாங்கினர்; கடினமான சாந்து செங்கல் வேலையாலும், அனைத்து வயல்வெளி வேலையாலும், மேலும் கொடுமைப்படுத்தி வாங்கிய ஒவ்வொரு வேலையாலும், அவர்கள் வாழ்க்கையே கசந்து போகும்படி செய்தனர்.

பின்னர், பார்வோன் தன் குடிமக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் ஆணைவிடுத்து, “பிறக்கும் எபிரேய ஆண் மகவு அனைத்தையும் நைல் நதியில் எறிந்து விடுங்கள். பெண் மகவையோ வாழ விடுங்கள்” என்று அறிவித்தான்.

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “நான் உலகிற்கு அமைதி கொணர வந்தேன் என எண்ண வேண்டாம். அமைதியை அல்ல, வாளையே கொணர வந்தேன். தந்தைக்கு எதிராக மகனையும் தாய்க்கு எதிராக மகளையும் மாமியாருக்கு எதிராக மருமகளையும் நான் பிரிக்க வந்தேன். ஒருவருடைய பகைவர் அவரது வீட்டில் உள்ளவரே ஆவர்.

என்னை விடத் தம் தந்தையிடமோ தாயிடமோ மிகுந்த அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோர் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். என்னை விடத் தம் மகனிடமோ மகளிடமோ மிகுதியாய் அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோரும் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். தம் சிலுவையைச் சுமக்காமல் என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வருவோர் என்னுடையோர் எனக் கருதப்படத் தகுதியற்றோர். தம் உயிரைக் காக்க விரும்புவோர் அதை இழந்துவிடுவர். என் பொருட்டுத் தம் உயிரை இழப்போரோ அதைக் காத்துக் கொள்வர்.

உங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். என்னை ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவரோ என்னை அனுப்பினவரையே ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறார். இறைவாக்கினர் ஒருவரை அவர் இறைவாக்கினர் என்பதால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் இறைவாக்கினருக்குரிய கைம்மாறு பெறுவார். நேர்மையாளர் ஒருவரை அவர் நேர்மையாளர் என்பதால் ஏற்றுக்கொள்பவர் நேர்மையாளருக்குரிய கைம்மாறு பெறுவார்.

இச்சிறியோருள் ஒருவருக்கு அவர் என் சீடர் என்பதால் ஒரு கிண்ணம் குளிர்ந்த நீராவது கொடுப்பவரும் தம் கைம்மாறு பெறாமல் போகார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்."

இயேசு தம் பன்னிரு சீடருக்கும் அறிவுரை கொடுத்து முடித்ததும் பக்கத்து ஊர்களில் கற்பிக்கவும் நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவும் அவ்விடம் விட்டு அகன்றார்.

"I did not come to bring peace, but the sword" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (10, 34 - 11, 1) 

At that time, Jesus said to his Apostles: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace on earth: I did not come to bring peace, but the sword. Yes, I have come to separate the man from his father, the daughter from his mother, the daughter-in-law from his mother-in-law: we will have as enemies the people of our own household. Whoever loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; he who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; he who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever has found his life will lose it; who lost his life because of me will find it. Whoever welcomes you welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the One who sent me. Whoever welcomes a prophet in his capacity as a prophet will receive a prophet's reward; who receives a righteous man as a righteous one will receive a righteous reward. And whoever will give to drink, even a simple glass of cold water, to one of these little ones in his capacity as a disciple, amen, I say to you: no, he will not lose his reward. "

When Jesus had finished his instructions to his twelve disciples, he left there to teach and proclaim the Word in the cities of the country.

"Let us take the necessary steps to prevent Israel from multiplying" 

A Reading from the book of Exodus (1, 8-14. 22) 

In those days a new king came to power in Egypt. He had not known Joseph. He said to his people, “Behold, the people of the children of Israel are now more numerous and mighty than we. Let us therefore take the necessary steps to prevent it from multiplying. Because, if there was a war, he would join our enemies, fight against us, and then he would come out of the country. So they imposed on the children of Israel chores to overwhelm them with hard work. They had to build the warehouse cities of Pithom and Ramses for Pharaoh. But, the more they were overwhelmed, the more they multiplied and proliferated, which made them hate. The Egyptians subjected the children of Israel to severe slavery and made their life untenable by dint of drudgery: preparation of clay and bricks and all kinds of work in the country; all this work was for them a hard slavery. Pharaoh commanded all his people: "All the children that shall be born to the Hebrews, throw them into the Nile." Only let the girls live. "
