“It was because of the hardness of your heart that Moses allowed you to send your wives away. But in the beginning it was not so ”

for what it really is:

not the word of men,

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 19, 3-12 

At that time

    the Pharisees came to Jesus to test him;

they asked him:

"Is it lawful for a man to dismiss his wife

for any reason?" "

    He replied:

" Have you not read this?

From the beginning, the Creator made them male and female?

    and said,

“Because of this, a man will leave his father and mother,

he will be attached to his wife,

and they will both become one flesh. ”

    So they are no longer two, but one flesh.

So, what God has united,

may not be separated by man! "

    The Pharisees replied:

" Why then did Moses command

delivery of a divorce certificate before repudiation? "

    Jesus answered:

" It is because of your hardness of heart

Moses allowed you to send your wives.

But in the beginning it was not so.

    But I tell you:

if someone sends his wife away

- except in the case of an illegitimate union -

and he marries another,

he is adultery. "

    His disciples say to him:

" If such is the situation of a man

in relation to his wife, it is

better not to marry. "

    He answered them,

" All can not receive this word,

but only those to whom it is given.

    There are people who do not marry

because, from birth, they are incapable of doing so;

there are some who cannot get married

because they have been mutilated by men;

there are those who have chosen not to marry

because of the kingdom of Heaven.

He who can understand, let him understand! " 

            - Let us acclaim the Word of God.

Reading the Book of Joshua 24, 1-13 

In those days

    Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel at Shechem;

then he called the elders of Israel,

with the rulers, the judges, and the scribes;

they presented themselves before God.

    Joshua then said to all the people:

“Thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel:

Your ancestors lived beyond the Euphrates for all time,

until Terah, father of Abraham and Nahor,

and they served as 'other gods.

    So I took your father Abraham beyond the Euphrates,

and took him through all the land of Canaan;

I multiplied his descendants, and gave him Isaac.

    To Isaac I gave Jacob and Esau.

To Esau I gave mountain Seir for possession.

Jacob and his sons went down to Egypt. 

    Then I sent Moses and Aaron,

and I smote Egypt

with all that I did in the midst of it.

Then I got you out of it.

    So I brought your fathers out of Egypt,

and you came to the sea;

the Egyptians pursued your fathers

with chariots and warriors

to the Red Sea.

    Your fathers cried out to the Lord,

who spread a thick fog between you and the Egyptians,

and caused the sea to come back upon them, which covered them.

You saw with your own eyes what I did in Egypt,

then you spent a long time in the desert. 

    I then brought you into the land of the Amorites

who lived beyond the Jordan.

They made war against you,

and I delivered them into your hand:

you have taken possession of their land,

for I have destroyed them before you.

     Then Balak the son of Cippor king of Moab

rose up to make war against Israel,

and he sent for Balaam the son of Beor

to curse you.

    But I did not want to listen to Balaam:

he even had to bless you,

and I saved you from the hand of Balaq. 

Then you crossed the Jordan to reach Jericho;

the rulers of Jericho fought against you

and many peoples,

but I delivered them into your hand.

    I sent hornets before you,

which drove out the two Amorite kings;

it was neither by your sword nor by your bow.

    I gave you a land that cost you no trouble,

towns in which you settled

without having built them,

vineyards and olive groves which you enjoy today

without having planted them. "

அக்காலத்தில்

பேதுரு இயேசுவை அணுகி, “ஆண்டவரே, என் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளுள் ஒருவர் எனக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்துவந்தால் நான் எத்தனை முறை அவரை மன்னிக்க வேண்டும்? ஏழு முறை மட்டுமா?” எனக் கேட்டார். அதற்கு இயேசு அவரிடம் கூறியது: “ஏழு முறை மட்டுமல்ல; எழுபது தடவை ஏழு முறை என நான் உனக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

விண்ணரசைப் பின்வரும் நிகழ்ச்சிக்கு ஒப்பிடலாம்; ஓர் அரசர் தம் பணியாளர்களிடம் கணக்குக் கேட்க விரும்பினார். அவர் கணக்குப் பார்க்கத் தொடங்கியபொழுது, அவரிடம் பத்தாயிரம் தாலந்து கடன்பட்ட ஒருவனைக் கொண்டு வந்தனர். அவன் பணத்தைத் திருப்பிக் கொடுக்க இயலாத நிலையில் இருந்தான். தலைவரோ, அவனையும் அவன் மனைவி மக்களோடு அவனுக்குரிய உடமைகள் யாவற்றையும் விற்றுப் பணத்தைத் திருப்பி அடைக்க ஆணையிட்டார். உடனே அப்பணியாள் அவர் காலில் விழுந்து பணிந்து, ‘என்னைப் பொறுத்தருள்க; எல்லாவற்றையும் உமக்குத் திருப்பித் தந்துவிடுகிறேன்’ என்றான். அப்பணியாளின் தலைவர் பரிவு கொண்டு அவனை விடுவித்து அவனது கடன் முழுவதையும் தள்ளுபடி செய்தார்.

ஆனால் அப்பணியாள் வெளியே சென்றதும், தன்னிடம் நூறு தெனாரியம் கடன்பட்டிருந்த உடன்பணியாளர் ஒருவரைக் கண்டு, ‘நீ பட்ட கடனைத் திருப்பித் தா’ எனக் கூறி அவரைப் பிடித்துக் கழுத்தை நெரித்தான். உடனே அவனுடைய உடன்பணியாளர் காலில் விழுந்து, என்னைப் பொறுத்தருள்க; நான் திருப்பிக் கொடுத்துவிடுகிறேன்’ என்று அவனைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டார். ஆனால் அவன் அதற்கு இசையாது, கடனைத் திருப்பி அடைக்கும்வரை அவரைச் சிறையிலடைத்தான்.

அவருடைய உடன்பணியாளர்கள் நடந்ததைக் கண்டபோது மிகவும் வருந்தித் தலைவரிடம் போய் நடந்தவற்றையெல்லாம் விளக்கிக் கூறினார்கள். அப்போது தலைவர் அவனை வரவழைத்து, “பொல்லாதவனே, நீ என்னை வேண்டிக்கொண்டதால் அந்தக் கடன் முழுவதையும் உனக்குத் தள்ளுபடி செய்தேன். நான் உனக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டியதுபோல நீயும் உன் உடன்பணியாளருக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டியிருக்க வேண்டும் அல்லவா? என்று கேட்டார். அத்தலைவர் சினங்கொண்டவராய், அனைத்துக் கடனையும் அவன் அடைக்கும்வரை அவனை வதைப்போரிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார்.

உங்களுள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தம் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளை மனமார மன்னிக்காவிட்டால் விண்ணுலகில் இருக்கும் என் தந்தையும் உங்களை மன்னிக்க மாட்டார்."

இயேசு இவ்வாறு உரையாற்றி முடித்த பின்பு கலிலேயாவை விட்டு அகன்று யோர்தானுக்கு அப்பாலுள்ள யூதேயப் பகுதிகளுக்குச் சென்றார்.

ஆண்டவரது உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழை உங்கள்முன் யோர்தானைக் கடக்கின்றது.

யோசுவா நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 3: 7-10a, 11, 13-17.

அந்நாள்களில்

ஆண்டவர் யோசுவாவிடம், “இன்று இஸ்ரயேலர் அனைவரின் பார்வையில் உன்னை உயர்த்தத் தொடங்குகிறேன். அதனால் நான் மோசேயுடன் இருந்ததுபோல் உன்னோடும் இருப்பேன் என்று அவர்கள் அறிந்து கொள்வார்கள். உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழையைத் தூக்கிவரும் குருக்கள் யோர்தான் ஆற்றங்கரைக்கு வந்தவுடன் அங்கேயே நிற்குமாறு அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடு” என்றார்.

யோசுவா இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களிடம், “இங்கே வாருங்கள், உங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரின் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேளுங்கள். வாழும் இறைவன் உங்களிடையே இருக்கின்றார் என்று இதனால் அறிவீர்கள். இதோ, உலகனைத்தின் ஆண்டவரது உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழை உங்கள்முன் யோர்தானைக் கடக்கின்றது. உலகனைத்தின் ஆண்டவரது உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழையைத் தூக்கிச் செல்லும் குருக்களின் காலடிகள் யோர்தான் நீரில் பட்டவுடன் அத்தண்ணீர் பிரிந்து போகும். மேற்பகுதியிலிருந்து ஓடிவரும் தண்ணீர் குவியலாக நிற்கும்” என்றார்.

மக்கள் தங்கள் கூடாரங்களிலிருந்து யோர்தானைக் கடக்கப் புறப்படும்போது குருக்கள் உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழையைத் தூக்கிக் கொண்டு மக்கள் முன்னே சென்றனர். உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழையைத் தூக்கிச் சென்ற குருக்கள் யோர்தானை அடைந்தனர். அவர்கள் காலடிகள் யோர்தான் நீரின் விளிம்பில் நனைந்தவுடன், மேற்பகுதியிலிருந்து ஓடிவந்த யோர்தான் நீர் வெகுதொலையில் நின்றது. அறுவடை நாள்களில் இந்நதி கரைபுரண்டு ஓடும். மேற்பகுதியிலிருந்து வந்த நீர், சாரத்தானின் அருகில் இருந்து ஆதாம் நகருக்கு எதிரில் வெகுதொலையில் மேலெழும்பி நின்றது. கீழே ஓடிய நீர் பாலைநிலக் கடலாகிய சாக்கடல் வரை ஓடிமறைந்தது. மக்களும் எரிகோவுக்கு நேர் எதிராகக் கடந்து சென்றனர். இஸ்ரயேலர் அனைவரும் கடந்து முடிக்கும்வரை, ஆண்டவரது உடன்படிக்கைப் பேழையைத் தூக்கிச் சென்ற குருக்கள் யோர்தான் நடுவே வறண்ட தரையில் நின்றனர். எல்லா இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களும் அவ்வறண்ட தரை வழியாக நடந்தனர்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

“I am not telling you to forgive up to seven times, but up to 70 times seven times”

For your servant, let your face light up:

teach me your commandments.

At that time,

    Peter approached Jesus to ask him:

“Lord, when my brother commits sins against me,

how many times must I forgive him?

Up to seven times? "

    Jesus answered him:

" I do not tell you up to seven times,

but up to 70 times seven times.

    Thus, the kingdom of Heaven is comparable

to a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.

    It was beginning

when someone brought him someone

who owed him ten thousand talents

(that is, sixty million pieces of silver).

    As this man had no money to pay back,

the master ordered him to be sold,

with his wife, children and all his property,

in repayment of his debt.

    Then, falling at his feet,

the servant remained prostrate and said:

"Be patient with me,

and I will repay you for everything."

    Seized with compassion, the master of this servant

let him go and forgave him his debt. 

    But, on leaving, this servant found one of his companions

who owed him a hundred pieces of silver.

He threw himself on him to strangle him, saying:

“Pay off your debt!” 

     Then, falling at his feet, his companion begged him:

"Be patient with me,

and I will reimburse you."

    But the other refused and had him thrown in jail

until he paid back what he owed.

    His companions, seeing this,

were deeply saddened

and went to tell their master

all that had happened.

    So the latter called him and said to him:

“Evil servant!

I forgave you all this debt

because you begged me.

    Should you not, in your turn,

have pity on your companion,

as I myself had had pity on you? ” 

     In his anger, his master handed him over to the executioners

until he had repaid all he owed. 

This is how my heavenly Father will treat you,

if each of you does not forgive your brother from the bottom of your heart. " 

When Jesus had finished this discourse,

he left Galilee

and went into the territory of Judea

beyond the Jordan.
