The message of the truth has reached you and is spreading all over the world.

A Reading from the Letter of St.Paul to the Colossians 1:1-8.

From Paul, appointed by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Timothy to the saints in Colossae, our faithful brothers in Christ: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.

  We have never failed to remember you in our prayers and to give thanks for you to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, ever since we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you show towards all the saints because of the hope which is stored up for you in heaven. It is only recently that you heard of this, when it was announced in the message of the truth. The Good News which has reached you is spreading all over the world and producing the same results as it has among you ever since the day when you heard about God’s grace and understood what this really is. Epaphras, who taught you, is one of our closest fellow workers and a faithful deputy for us as Christ’s servant, and it was he who told us all about your love in the Spirit.

ஆகஸ்ட்  31 : நற்செய்தி வாசகம்

நீர் யார் என எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீர் கடவுளுக்கு அர்ப்பணமானவர்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள கப்பர்நாகும் ஊருக்குச் சென்று, ஓய்வு நாள்களில் மக்களுக்குக் கற்பித்து வந்தார். அவருடைய போதனையைக் குறித்து அவர்கள் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்தார்கள்.

ஏனெனில் அவர் அதிகாரத்தோடு கற்பித்தார். தொழுகைக்கூடத்தில் தீய ஆவியான பேய் பிடித்திருந்த ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவரைப் பிடித்திருந்த பேய், “ஐயோ! நாசரேத்து இயேசுவே, உமக்கு இங்கு என்ன வேலை? எங்களை ஒழித்துவிடவா வந்தீர்? நீர் யார் என எனக்குத் தெரியும். நீர் கடவுளுக்கு அர்ப்பணமானவர்” என்று உரத்த குரலில் கத்தியது.

“வாயை மூடு, இவரை விட்டு வெளியே போ” என்று இயேசு அதனை அதட்டினார். அப்பொழுது பேய் பிடித்தவரை அவர்கள் நடுவே விழச் செய்து, அவருக்கு ஒரு தீங்கும் இழைக்காமல் பேய் அவரை விட்டு வெளியேறிற்று.

எல்லாரும் திகைப்படைந்து, “எப்படிப் பேசுகிறார், பாருங்கள்! அதிகாரத் தோடும் வல்லமையோடும் தீய ஆவிகளுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறார்; அவையும் போய்விடுகின்றனவே!” என்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசிக் கொண்டனர். அவரைப் பற்றிய பேச்சு சுற்றுப்புறமெங்கும் பரவியது.

நம்மிடையே பெரிய இறைவாக்கினர் ஒருவர் தோன்றியிருக்கிறார். கடவுள் தம் மக்களைத் தேடி வந்திருக்கிறார். அல்லேலூயா.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

இவை நடக்கும் காலங்களையும் நேரங்களையும் குறித்து உங்களுக்கு எழுதத் தேவையில்லை. ஏனெனில் திருடன் இரவில் வருவது போல, ஆண்டவருடைய நாள் வரும் என்பதை நீங்களே திண்ணமாய்த் தெரிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள்.

‘எங்கும் அமைதி, ஆபத்து இல்லை’ என்று மக்கள் கூறிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் பொழுது, கருவுற்றிருப்பவருக்கு வேதனை வருவது போல, திடீரென அவர்களுக்கு அழிவு வரும்; யாரும் தப்பித்துக்கொள்ள இயலாது. ஆனால், அன்பர்களே! நீங்கள் இருளில் நடப்பவர்களல்ல; ஆகவே அந்த நாள் திருடனைப் போல் உங்களுக்கு வராது. நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஒளியைச் சார்ந்தவர்கள்; பகலில் நடப்பவர்கள். நாம் இரவையோ இருளையோ சார்ந்தவரல்ல. ஆகவே மற்றவர்களைப் போல் நாமும் உறங்கலாகாது; விழிப்போடும் அறிவுத் தெளிவோடும் இருப்போம்.

ஏனெனில் கடவுள் நம்மைத் தம் சினத்துக்கு ஆளாவதற்கு அல்ல, நம் ஆண்டவர் இயேசு கிறிஸ்து வழியாக மீட்பு அடையவே ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளார். நாம் இருந்தாலும் இறந்தாலும் அவரோடு இணைந்து வாழும் வண்ணம் அவர் நம் பொருட்டு இறந்தார். ஆகவே நீங்கள் இப்பொழுது செய்து வருவது போல, ஒருவருக்கொருவர் ஊக்கமூட்டுங்கள்; ஒருவரை ஒருவர் வளர்ச்சியடையச் செய்யுங்கள்.

'I know who you are: the Holy One of God'.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 4:31-37 

Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath. And his teaching made a deep impression on them because he spoke with authority.

  In the synagogue there was a man who was possessed by the spirit of an unclean devil, and it shouted at the top of its voice, ‘Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God.’ But Jesus said sharply, ‘Be quiet! Come out of him!’ And the devil, throwing the man down in front of everyone, went out of him without hurting him at all. Astonishment seized them and they were all saying to one another, ‘What teaching! He gives orders to unclean spirits with authority and power and they come out.’ And reports of him went all through the surrounding countryside.

I am sure I shall see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.

The Lord is my light and my help;

  whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life;

  before whom shall I shrink?

I am sure I shall see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.

There is one thing I ask of the Lord,

  for this I long,

to live in the house of the Lord,

  all the days of my life,

to savour the sweetness of the Lord,

  to behold his temple.

I am sure I shall see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living.

Hope in him, hold firm and take heart.
