இயேசுவினாலே அன்றி, வேறு எவராலும் மீட்பு இல்லை.

அந்நாள்களில்

பேதுரு தூய ஆவியால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்டு கூறியது: “மக்கள் தலைவர்களே, மூப்பர்களே, உடல்நலமற்றிருந்த இவருக்கு நாங்கள் செய்த நற்செயல் எப்படி நிகழ்ந்தது என்பதைக் குறித்து நாங்கள் இன்று விசாரணை செய்யப்படுகிறோம். நாசரேத்து இயேசுவின் பெயரால் இவர் நலமடைந்து நம்முடன் நிற்கிறார். இது உங்கள் எல்லாருக்கும், இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் தெரிந்திருக்கட்டும். நீங்கள் இயேசுவைச் சிலுவையில் அறைந்தீர்கள். ஆனால் கடவுள் இறந்த அவரை உயிருடன் எழுப்பினார். இந்த இயேசுவே, ‘கட்டுகிறவர்களாகிய உங்களால் இகழ்ந்து தள்ளப்பட்ட கல். ஆனாலும் முதன்மையான மூலைக் கல்லாக விளங்குகிறார்.’ இவராலே அன்றி வேறு எவராலும் மீட்பு இல்லை. ஏனென்றால் நாம் மீட்புப் பெறுமாறு வானத்தின்கீழ், மனிதரிடையே இவரது பெயரன்றி வேறு எந்தப் பெயரும் கொடுக்கப்படவில்லை.”

The good shepherd is one who lays down his life for his sheep.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.John 10:11-18 

Jesus said:

‘I am the good shepherd:

the good shepherd is one who lays down his life for his sheep.

The hired man, since he is not the shepherd

and the sheep do not belong to him,

abandons the sheep and runs away

as soon as he sees a wolf coming,

and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep;

this is because he is only a hired man

and has no concern for the sheep.

‘I am the good shepherd;

I know my own

and my own know me,

just as the Father knows me

and I know the Father;

and I lay down my life for my sheep.

And there are other sheep I have

that are not of this fold,

and these I have to lead as well.

They too will listen to my voice,

and there will be only one flock,

and one shepherd.

‘The Father loves me,

because I lay down my life

in order to take it up again.

No one takes it from me;

I lay it down of my own free will,

and as it is in my power to lay it down,

so it is in my power to take it up again;

and this is the command I have been given by my Father.’

A reading from the first letter of St.John 3:1-2 

Think of the love that the Father has lavished on us,

by letting us be called God’s children;

and that is what we are.

Because the world refused to acknowledge him,

therefore it does not acknowledge us.

My dear people, we are already the children of God

but what we are to be in the future has not yet been revealed;

all we know is, that when it is revealed

we shall be like him

because we shall see him as he really is.

The name of Jesus Christ is the only name in which we can be saved.

A Reading from the Acts of Apostles 4 : 8-12. 

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Peter said: ‘Rulers of the people, and elders! If you are questioning us today about an act of kindness to a cripple, and asking us how he was healed, then I am glad to tell you all, and would indeed be glad to tell the whole people of Israel, that it was by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, the one you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man is able to stand up perfectly healthy, here in your presence, today. This is the stone rejected by you the builders, but which has proved to be the keystone. For of all the names in the world given to men, this is the only one by which we can be saved.’

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (6, 60-69) 

At that time, Jesus had given a teaching in the synagogue of Capernaum. Many of his disciples, who had heard, said: “This is a harsh saying! Who can hear it? Jesus knew to himself that his disciples were complaining about him. He said to them: "Does this scandalize you? And when you see the Son of man ascend where he was before!… It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is not capable of anything. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. But there are some among you who do not believe. Jesus knew from the beginning who were those who disbelieved, and who it was who would betray him. He added: “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is given to him by the Father. "

From that moment on, many of his disciples returned and stopped accompanying him. Then Jesus said to the Twelve: "Do you want to go too?" Simon Peter answered him: "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. As for us, we believe, and we know that you are the Holy One of God. "
