Psalm 26(27):1,4,13-14 

The Lord is my light and my help.

The Lord is my light and my help;

  whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life;

  before whom shall I shrink?

The Lord is my light and my help.

There is one thing I ask of the Lord,

  for this I long,

to live in the house of the Lord,

  all the days of my life,

to savour the sweetness of the Lord,

  to behold his temple.

The Lord is my light and my help.

I am sure I shall see the Lord’s goodness

  in the land of the living.

Hope in him, hold firm and take heart.

Work for your salvation, for God is working in you

A Reading from the Letter of St.Paul to the Philippians 2:12-18. 

My dear friends, continue to do as I tell you, as you always have; not only as you did when I was there with you, but even more now that I am no longer there; and work for your salvation ‘in fear and trembling.’ It is God, for his own loving purpose, who puts both the will and the action into you. Do all that has to be done without complaining or arguing and then you will be innocent and genuine, perfect children of God among a deceitful and underhand brood, and you will shine in the world like bright stars because you are offering it the word of life. This would give me something to be proud of for the Day of Christ, and would mean that I had not run in the race and exhausted myself for nothing. And then, if my blood has to be shed as part of your own sacrifice and offering – which is your faith – I shall still be happy and rejoice with all of you, and you must be just as happy and rejoice with me.

எனது வீடு நிரம்பும் அளவுக்கு மக்களை வற்புறுத்திக் கூட்டி வாரும்.

லூக்கா எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 14: 15-24

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசுவோடு பந்தியில் அமர்ந்தவர்களுள் ஒருவர் இயேசுவிடம், “இறையாட்சி விருந்தில் பங்கு பெறுவோர் பேறுபெற்றோர்” என்றார்.

இயேசு அவரிடம் கூறியது: “ஒருவர் பெரிய விருந்து ஒன்றை ஏற்பாடு செய்து பலரை அழைத்தார். விருந்து நேரம் வரவே அவர் அழைப்புப் பெற்றவர்களிடம் தம் பணியாளரை அனுப்பி, ‘வாருங்கள், எல்லாம் ஏற்கெனவே ஏற்பாடு செய்தாகிவிட்டது’ என்று சொன்னார். அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் ஒருவர் பின் ஒருவராய்ச் சாக்குப்போக்குச் சொல்லத் தொடங்கினர். முதலில் ஒருவர், ‘வயல் ஒன்று வாங்கியிருக்கிறேன்; அதை நான் கட்டாயம் போய்ப் பார்க்க வேண்டும். என்னை மன்னிக்க வேண்டுகிறேன்’ என்றார். ‘நான் ஐந்து ஏர் மாடுகள் வாங்கியிருக்கிறேன்; அவற்றை ஓட்டிப்பார்க்கப் போகிறேன். என்னை மன்னிக்க வேண்டுகிறேன்’ என்றார் வேறொருவர். ‘எனக்கு இப்போதுதான் திருமணம் ஆயிற்று; ஆகையால் என்னால் வர முடியாது’ என்றார் மற்றொருவர்.

பணியாளர் திரும்பி வந்து இவற்றைத் தம் தலைவருக்கு அறிவித்தார். வீட்டு உரிமையாளர் சினமுற்றுத் தம் பணியாளரிடம், ‘நீர் நகரின் வீதிகளுக்கும் சந்துகளுக்கும் விரைந்து சென்று ஏழையர், உடல் ஊனமுற்றோர், பார்வையற்றோர், கால் ஊனமுற்றோர் ஆகியோரை இங்கே கூட்டி வாரும்’ என்றார். பின்பு பணியாளர், ‘தலைவரே, நீர் பணித்தபடி செய்தாயிற்று; இன்னும் இடமிருக்கிறது’ என்றார். தலைவர் தம் பணியாளரை நோக்கி, ‘நீர் வழியோரங்களிலும் நடைபாதைகளிலும் போய், எனது வீடு நிரம்பும் அளவுக்கு மக்களை வற்புறுத்திக் கூட்டி வாரும்.

அழைக்கப் பெற்றவர்களுள் எவரும் என்னுடைய விருந்தைச் சுவைக்கப் போவதில்லை என உமக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்’ “ என்றார்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

25b.உமக்கு அஞ்சுவோர் முன்னிலையில் என் பொருத்தனைகளைச் செலுத்துவேன்.

26.எளியோர் உணவு உண்டு நிறைவு பெறுவர்; ஆண்டவரை நாடுவோர் அவரைப் புகழ்வராக! அவர்கள் இதயம் என்றென்றும் வாழ்வதாக! - பல்லவி

27.பூவுலகின் கடையெல்லை வரை உள்ளோர் அனைவரும் இதை உணர்ந்து ஆண்டவர் பக்கம் திரும்புவர்; பிற இனத்துக் குடும்பத்தார் அனைவரும் அவர் முன்னிலையில் விழுந்து பணிவர்.

28.ஏனெனில் அரசு ஆண்டவருடையது; பிற இனத்தார் மீதும் அவர் ஆட்சி புரிகின்றார்.

30.வருங்காலத் தலைமுறையினர் அவரைத் தொழுவர்; இனிவரும் தலைமுறையினருக்கு ஆண்டவரைப் பற்றி அறிவிக்கப்படும்.

31.அவர்கள் வந்து, அவரது நீதியை அறிவிப்பர்; இனி பிறக்கப்போகும் மக்களுக்கு ‘இதை அவரே செய்தார்’ என்பர். - பல்லவி

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

கிறிஸ்து இயேசு கொண்டிருந்த மனநிலையே உங்களிலும் இருக்கட்டும்! கடவுள் வடிவில் விளங்கிய அவர், கடவுளுக்கு இணையாய் இருக்கும் நிலையை வலிந்து பற்றிக்கொண்டிருக்க வேண்டியதொன்றாகக் கருதவில்லை. ஆனால் தம்மையே வெறுமையாக்கி அடிமையின் வடிவை ஏற்று மனிதருக்கு ஒப்பானார்.

மனித உருவில் தோன்றி, சாவை ஏற்கும் அளவுக்கு, அதுவும் சிலுவைச் சாவையே ஏற்கும் அளவுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து தம்மையே தாழ்த்திக் கொண்டார். எனவே கடவுளும் அவரை மிகவே உயர்த்தி, எப்பெயருக்கும் மேலான பெயரை அவருக்கு அருளினார். ஆகவே இயேசுவின் பெயருக்கு விண்ணவர், மண்ணவர், கீழுலகோர் அனைவரும் மண்டியிடுவர்; தந்தையாம் கடவுளின் மாட்சிக்காக ‘இயேசு கிறிஸ்து ஆண்டவர்’ என எல்லா நாவுமே அறிக்கையிடும்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 14: 15-24 

One of those gathered round the table said to Jesus, ‘Happy the man who will be at the feast in the kingdom of God!’ But he said to him, ‘There was a man who gave a great banquet, and he invited a large number of people. When the time for the banquet came, he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, “Come along: everything is ready now.” But all alike started to make excuses. The first said, “I have bought a piece of land and must go and see it. Please accept my apologies.” Another said, “I have bought five yoke of oxen and am on my way to try them out. Please accept my apologies.” Yet another said, “I have just got married and so am unable to come.”

  ‘The servant returned and reported this to his master. Then the householder, in a rage, said to his servant, “Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in here the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.” “Sir” said the servant “your orders have been carried out and there is still room.” Then the master said to his servant, “Go to the open roads and the hedgerows and force people to come in to make sure my house is full; because, I tell you, not one of those who were invited shall have a taste of my banquet.”’

My vows I will pay before those who fear the Lord.

  The poor shall eat and shall have their fill.

They shall praise the Lord, those who seek him.

  May their hearts live for ever and ever!

You are my praise, O Lord, in the great assembly.

All the earth shall remember and return to the Lord,

  all families of the nations worship before him;

  for the kingdom is the Lord’s, he is ruler of the nations.

They shall worship him, all the mighty of the earth.

And my soul shall live for him, my children serve him.

  They shall tell of the Lord to generations yet to come,

declare his faithfulness to peoples yet unborn:
