அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கப்பர்நாகுமுக்குச் சென்றபோது நூற்றுவர் தலைவர் ஒருவர் அவரிடம் உதவி வேண்டி வந்தார். “ஐயா, என் பையன் முடக்குவாதத்தால் மிகுந்த வேதனையுடன் படுத்துக் கிடக்கிறான்” என்றார். இயேசு அவரிடம், “நான் வந்து அவனைக் குணமாக்குவேன்” என்றார். நூற்றுவர் தலைவர் மறுமொழியாக, “ஐயா, நீர் என் வீட்டிற்குள் அடியெடுத்து வைக்க நான் தகுதியற்றவன். ஆனால் ஒரு வார்த்தை மட்டும் சொல்லும்; என் பையன் நலமடைவான். நான் அதிகாரத்துக்கு உட்பட்டவன். என் அதிகாரத்துக்கு உட்பட்ட படைவீரரும் உள்ளனர். நான் அவர்களுள் ஒருவரிடம் ‘செல்க’ என்றால் அவர் செல்கிறார். வேறு ஒருவரிடம் ‘வருக’ என்றால் அவர் வருகிறார். என் பணியாளரைப் பார்த்து ‘இதைச் செய்க’ என்றால் அவர் செய்கிறார்” என்றார்.

இதைக் கேட்டு இயேசு வியந்து, தம்மைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து வந்தவர்களை நோக்கி, “உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்; இஸ்ரயேலர் யாரிடமும் இத்தகைய நம்பிக்கையை நான் கண்டதில்லை. கிழக்கிலும் மேற்கிலுமிருந்து பலர் வந்து, ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு ஆகியோருடன் விண்ணரசின் பந்தியில் அமர்வர்.” என்றார்

மானிடமகன் வருகையைப்பற்றி இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “நோவாவின் காலத்தில் இருந்தது போலவே மானிட மகன் வருகையின்போதும் இருக்கும். வெள்ளப் பெருக்குக்கு முந்தைய காலத்தில், நோவா பேழைக்குள் சென்ற நாள்வரை எல்லாரும் திருமணம் செய்து கொண்டும் உண்டும் குடித்தும் வந்தார்கள். வெள்ளப்பெருக்கு வந்து அனைவரையும் அடித்துச் செல்லும்வரை அவர்கள் எதையும் அறியாதிருந்தார்கள். அப்படியே மானிடமகன் வருகையின்போதும் இருக்கும். இருவர் வயலில் இருப்பர். ஒருவர் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளப்படுவார்; மற்றவர் விட்டு விடப்படுவார். இருவர் திரிகையில் மாவரைத்துக்கொண்டிருப்பர். ஒருவர் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளப்படுவார்; மற்றவர் விட்டுவிடப்படுவார்.

விழிப்பாயிருங்கள்; ஏனெனில் உங்கள் ஆண்டவர் எந்த நாளில் வருவார் என உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது. இரவில் எந்தக் காவல் வேளையில் திருடன் வருவான் என்று வீட்டு உரிமையாளருக்குத் தெரிந்திருந்தால் அவர் விழித்திருந்து தம் வீட்டில் கன்னமிடவிடமாட்டார் என்பதை அறிவீர்கள். எனவே நீங்களும் ஆயத்தமாய் இருங்கள். ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் நினையாத நேரத்தில் மானிட மகன் வருவார்.”

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

இறுதிக்காலம் இதுவே என அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்; உறக்கத்தினின்று விழித்தெழும் நேரம் ஏற்கெனவே வந்துவிட்டது. நாம் கிறிஸ்துவின்மேல் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டபோது இருந்ததை விட மீட்பு இப்பொழுது மிக அண்மையில் உள்ளது.

இரவு முடியப்போகிறது; பகல் நெருங்கி உள்ளது. ஆகவே இருளின் ஆட்சிக்குரிய செயல்களைக் களைந்து விட்டு, ஒளியின் ஆட்சிக்குரிய படைக்கலங்களை அணிந்து கொள்வோமாக! பகலில் நடப்பதுபோல மதிப்போடு நடந்து கொள்வோமாக! களியாட்டம், குடிவெறி, கூடா ஒழுக்கம், காமவெறி, சண்டைச்சச்சரவு, ஆகியவற்றைத் தவிர்ப்போமாக! தீய இச்சைகளைத் தூண்டும் ஊனியல்பின் நாட்டங்களுக்கு இடம் கொடுக்க வேண்டாம். இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவை அணிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்.

இறையரசின் முடிவில்லா அமைதியில் நாடுகள் அனைத்தையும் ஆண்டவர் ஒன்றுசேர்க்கிறார்.

யூதாவையும் எருசலேமையும் குறித்து ஆமோட்சின் மகன் எசாயா கண்ட காட்சி:

இறுதி நாள்களில் ஆண்டவரின் கோவில் அமைந்துள்ள மலை எல்லா மலைகளுக்குள்ளும் உயர்ந்ததாய் நிலை நிறுத்தப்படும்; எல்லாக் குன்றுகளுக்குள்ளும் மேலாய் உயர்த்தப்படும்; மக்களினங்கள் அதைநோக்கிச் சாரை சாரையாய் வருவார்கள்.

வேற்றினத்தார் பலர் அங்கு வந்து சேர்ந்து ‘புறப்படுங்கள் ஆண்டவரின் மலைக்குச் செல்வோம்; யாக்கோபின் கடவுளின் கோவிலுக்குப் போவோம். அவர் தம் வழிகளை நமக்குக் கற்பிப்பார்; நாமும் அவர் நெறிகளில் நடப்போம்’ என்பார்கள். ஏனெனில், சீயோனிலிருந்தே திருச்சட்டம் வெளிவரும்; எருசலேமிலிருந்தே ஆண்டவரின் திருவாக்கு புறப்படும்.

அவர் வேற்றினத்தாரிடையே உள்ள வழக்குகளைத் தீர்த்து வைப்பார்; பல இன மக்களுக்கும் தீர்ப்பளிப்பார்; அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாள்களைக் கலப்பைக் கொழுக்களாகவும் தங்கள் ஈட்டிகளைக் கருக்கரிவாள்களாகவும் அடித்துக் கொள்வார்கள், ஓர் இனத்திற்கு எதிராக மற்றோர் இனம் வாள் எடுக்காது; அவர்கள் இனி ஒருபோதும் போர்ப்பயிற்சி பெற மாட்டார்கள். யாக்கோபின் குடும்பத்தாரே, வாருங்கள் நாம் ஆண்டவரின் ஒளியில் நடப்போம்.

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களுக்குக் கூறியது: “உங்கள் உள்ளங்கள் குடிவெறி, களியாட்டத்தாலும் இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கைக்குரிய கவலையினாலும் மந்தம் அடையாதவாறு அந்நாள் திடீரென வந்து ஒரு கண்ணியைப் போல் உங்களைச் சிக்க வைக்காதவாறும் எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள். மண்ணுலகு எங்கும் குடியிருக்கும் எல்லார் மீதும் அந்நாள் வந்தே தீரும். ஆகையால் நிகழப்போகும் அனைத்திலிருந்தும் தப்புவதற்கும் மானிடமகன் முன்னிலையில் நிற்க வல்லவராவதற்கும் எப்பொழுதும் விழிப்பாயிருந்து மன்றாடுங்கள்.”

உங்கள் உள்ளம் குடிவெறியினால் மந்தமடைய வேண்டாம்

குடிகாரனும் இயேசுவும்:

நன்றாகக் குடித்துவிட்டு வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பி வந்துகொண்டிருந்த குடிகாரன் ஒருவன், ஒரு குளத்தில் போதகர் ஒருவர் முழுக்குத் திருமுழுக்குக் கொடுத்துக் கொண்டிருபதைக் கண்டான். அவரிடம் முழுக்குத் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற பலர் வரிசையில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தார்கள். முழுக்குத் திருமுழுக்கு என்றால் என்னவென்றே தெரியாத அந்தக் குடிகாரன் அவர்களோடு வரிசையில் நின்றான்.

அவனுடைய முறை வந்தது. போதகர் அவனை நீருக்குள் முக்கி எடுத்து, “இயேசுவைக் கண்டுகொண்டாயா?” என்றார். அவன் இல்லை என்றதும், மீண்டுமாக அவர் அவனை நீருக்குள் முக்கி எடுத்து, முன்புகேட்ட அதே கேள்வியைக் கேட்டார். அப்போதும் அவன் அதே பதிலைச் சொன்னதால், மூன்றாம் முறையாக அவனை அவர் நீருக்குள் முக்கி எடுத்தார். இந்த முறை அவர் அவனை, அவனுக்கு மூச்சுமுட்டுகிற வரை முக்கி எடுத்ததால், அவன் சற்றே பதறிப்போனான். “இந்த முறையாவது நீ இயேசுவைக் கண்டுகொண்டாயா?” என்று போதகர் அவனிடம் தன் குரலை உயர்த்திக் கேட்டபோது, அவன் மிகவும் அப்பாவியாய், “இங்குதான் இயேசு விழுந்தாரா?” என்றான்.

வேடிக்கையான நிகழ்வாக இது இருந்தாலும், குடிக்கு அடிமையான ஒருவருடைய வாழ்க்கை எப்படிப் பாழாய்ப்போகிறது என்பதை உணர்த்துகின்றது. இன்று நாம் வாசிக்கக் கேட்ட இறைவார்த்தை, குடிக்கு அடிமையாகிவிடாமல் ஆண்டவர்மீது பற்றுக்கொண்டு வாழ அழைப்புத் தருகின்றது. அது குறித்து நாம் சிந்திப்போம்.

திருவிவிலியப் பின்னணி:

மானிட மகனுடைய இரண்டாம் வருகையைக் குறித்துப் பேசுகின்ற இயேசு, அவர் எப்போது வேண்டுமானாலும் வரலாம் என்பதால், உங்கள் உள்ளம் குடிவெறி, களியாட்டம், இவ்வுலக வாழ்வுக்குரிய கவலை ஆகியவற்றால் மந்த மடைந்துவிடாதவாறு எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள்.

குடிவெறியர் இறையாட்சியை உரிமையாக்கிக் கொள்ள முடியாது (1 கொரி 6:10; கலா 5:21). அதனால் இயேசு, குடிவேறியினாலும், இன்ன பிறவற்றாலும் உள்ளம் மந்தமடைந்திடாதவாறு எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள் என்கிறார். மேலும், மானிட மகனை எதிர்கொள்வதற்குத் தகுதியுள்ளவர்களாய் இருக்க விழிப்பாய் இருந்து மன்றாடுங்கள் என்கிறார்.

இவ்வாறு எவர் ஒருவர் குடிவேறியினால் மந்தமடைந்துவிடாது, விழிந்திருந்து மன்றாடுகின்றாரோ, அவர் இன்றைய முதல் வாசகத்தில் நாம் வாசிப்பது போல், உன்னதரின் புனித மக்களாய்த் திகழ்ந்து, ஆட்சியையும் அரசுரிமையையும் பெறுவார். நாம் உன்னதரின் புனித மக்களாய்த் திகழ்ந்து, இறையாட்சியைப் பெறத் தயாரா?

சிந்தனைக்கு:

 குடியினால் மூளையை அடகு வைத்தவன், எல்லாவற்றையும் அடகு வைப்பான்.

 குடி ஒருவனுடைய மூளையை மழுங்கடித்து, அவனை முன்னேற விடாமல் செய்துவிடுகின்றது.

 குடிக்கு அடிமையாய் இருப்பதைவிட, ஆண்டவருக்கு அடிமையாய் இருப்போருக்கு ஆசிகள் பல.

ஆன்றோர் வாக்கு:

‘மனிதர்களிடம் இருக்கும் மிக வலிமையான ஆயுதம் இறைவேண்டல்’ என்பார் காந்தியடிகள். ஆகையால், நமது இறைவேண்டலால் சோதனைகளை முறியடித்து, இறைவனின் அன்பு மக்களாகி, இறையருளை நிறைவாகப் பெறுவோம்.

தானியேல் ஆகிய நான் உள்ளம் கலங்கினேன். மனக்கண்முன் தோன்றிய காட்சிகள் என்னை அச்சுறுத்தின. அங்கு நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தவர்களுள் ஒருவரை அணுகி, ‘இவற்றிற்கெல்லாம் பொருள் என்ன?’ என்று கேட்டேன். அவர் அவற்றின் உட்பொருளை எல்லாம் எனக்கு விளக்கிக் கூறினார். இந்த நான்கு விலங்குகளும் உலகில் எழும்பப்போகும் நான்கு அரசர்களைக் குறிக்கின்றன. ஆனால் உன்னதரின் புனிதர்கள் அரசுரிமை பெறுவர்; அந்த அரசுரிமையை என்றும் ஊழிஊழிக்காலமும் கொண்டிருப்பர்.

அதன் பின்னர், மற்ற விலங்குகளினின்று மாறுபட்டு, மிகவும் அஞ்சி நடுங்கவைக்கும் தோற்றத்துடன், இரும்புப் பற்களும் வெண்கல நகங்களும் கொண்டு, அனைத்தையும் தூள் தூளாக நொறுக்கி விழுங்கி, எஞ்சியதைக் கால்களால் மிதித்துப்போட்ட அந்த நான்காம் விலங்கைப் பற்றி அறிந்துகொள்ள விரும்பினேன். அதன் தலையில் இருந்த பத்துக் கொம்புகளைப் பற்றியும், மூன்று கொம்புகள் தன் முன்னிலையில் விழுந்து போக அங்கே முளைத்த கண்களும் பெருமையாகப் பேசும் வாயும் கொண்டிருந்த ஏனையவற்றை விடப் பெரிதாகத் தோன்றிய அந்தக் கொம்பைப் பற்றியும் தெரிந்துகொள்ள விரும்பினேன். நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அந்தக் கொம்பு புனிதர்களுக்கு எதிராகப் போர் புரிந்து அவர்களை வென்றது. தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் வந்து உன்னதரின் புனிதர்களுக்கு நீதி வழங்கும் வரையிலும் உரிய காலத்தில் புனிதர்கள் அரசுரிமை பெறும் வரையில் இவ்வாறு நடந்தது.

So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of the things. “These four great beasts are four kings who shall arise out of the earth. But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom for ever, for ever and ever.’” Then I desired to know the truth about the fourth beast,

which was different from all the rest, exceedingly terrifying, with its teeth of iron and claws of bronze, and which devoured and broke in pieces and stamped what was left with its feet and about the ten horns that were on its head, and the other horn that came up and before which three of them fell, the horn that had eyes and a mouth that spoke great things, and that seemed greater than its companions. As I looked, this horn made war with the saints and prevailed over them, until the Ancient of Days came, and judgment was given for the saints of the Most High, and the time came when the saints possessed the kingdom. இரவில் நான் கண்ட காட்சியில் வானத்தின் நான்கு திசைக் காற்றுகளும் பெருங்கடலைக் கொந்தளிக்கச் செய்தன. அப்பொழுது நான்கு பெரிய விலங்குகள் கடலினின்று மேலெழும்பின. அவை வெவ்வேறு உருவம் கொண்டவை. அவற்றுள் முதலாவது கழுகின் இறக்கைகளை உடைய சிங்கத்தைப் போல் இருந்தது. நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அதன் இறக்கைகள் பிடுங்கப்பட்டன; அது தரையினின்று தூக்கப்பட்டு மனிதனைப் போல் இரண்டு கால்களில் நின்றது; அதற்கு மனித இதயமும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

அடுத்து, வேறொரு இரண்டாம் விலங்கைக் கண்டேன். கரடியைப் போன்ற அந்த விலங்கு பின்னங்கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்து நின்றது; தன் மூன்று விலா எலும்புகளைத் தன் வாயின் பற்களுக்கு இடையில் கவ்விக்கொண்டிருந்தது. ‘எழுந்திரு, ஏராளமான இறைச்சியை விழுங்கு’ என்று அதற்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. இன்னும் நோக்குகையில், வேங்கை போன்ற வேறொரு விலங்கு காணப்பட்டது. அதன் முதுகில் பறவையின் இறக்கைகள் நான்கு இருந்தன; அந்த விலங்குக்கு நான்கு தலைகள் இருந்தன; அதற்கும் ஆளும் உரிமை கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

இவற்றுக்குப் பிறகு, இரவின் காட்சியில் கண்ட நான்காம் விலங்கு, அஞ்சி நடுங்கவைக்கும் தோற்றமும் மிகுந்த வலிமையும் கொண்டதாய் இருந்தது. அதற்குப் பெரிய இரும்புப் பற்கள் இருந்தன. அது தூள் தூளாக நொறுக்கி விழுங்கியது; எஞ்சியதைக் கால்களால் மிதித்துப் போட்டது. இதற்குமுன் நான் கண்ட விலங்குகளுக்கு இது மாறுபட்டது. இதற்குப் பத்துக் கொம்புகள் இருந்தன. அந்தக் கொம்புகளை நான் கவனித்துப் பார்க்கையில், அவற்றின் நடுவில் வேறொரு சிறிய கொம்பு முளைத்தது; அதற்கு இடமளிக்கும் வகையில், முன்னைய கொம்புகளுள் மூன்று வேரோடு பிடுங்கப்பட்டன; அந்தக் கொம்பில் மனிதக் கண்களைப் போலக் கண்களும் பெருமை பேசும் வாயும் இருந்தன.

நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அரியணைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டன; தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் அங்கு அமர்ந்தார்; அவருடைய ஆடை வெண்பனி போலவும், அவரது தலைமுடி தூய பஞ்சு போலவும் இருந்தன; அவருடைய அரியணை தீக்கொழுந்துகளாயும் அதன் சக்கரங்கள் எரிநெருப்பாயும் இருந்தன. அவர் முன்னிலையிலிருந்து நெருப்பாலான ஓடை தோன்றிப் பாய்ந்தோடி வந்தது; பல்லாயிரம் பேர் அவருக்குப் பணி புரிந்தார்கள்; பல கோடிப் பேர் அவர்முன் நின்றார்கள்; நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பு வழங்க அமர்ந்தது; நூல்கள் திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டன. அந்தக் கொம்பு பேசின பெருமைமிக்க சொற்களை முன்னிட்டு நான் அதைக் கவனித்துப் பார்த்தேன். அப்படிப் பார்க்கையில், அந்த விலங்கு கொல்லப்பட்டது; அதன் உடல் சிதைக்கப்பட்டு நெருப்பிற்கு இரையாக்கப்பட்டது. மற்ற விலங்குகளிடமிருந்து அவற்றின் ஆட்சியுரிமை பறிக்கப்பட்டது; ஆயினும் அவற்றின் வாழ்நாள் குறிப்பிட்ட கால நேரம்வரை நீட்டிக்கப்பட்டது.

“I, Daniel, saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea. And four great beasts came up out of the sea, different from one another. The first was like a lion and had eagles’ wings. Then as I looked its wings were plucked off, and it was lifted up from the ground and made to stand on two feet like a man, and the mind of a man was given to it. And behold, another beast, a second one, like a bear. It was raised up on one side. It had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told, ‘Arise, devour much flesh.’ After this I looked, and behold, another, like a leopard, with four wings of a bird on its back. And the beast had four heads, and dominion was given to it. After this I saw in the night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, terrifying and dreadful and exceedingly strong. இயேசு தம் சீடர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “எருசலேமைப் படைகள் சூழ்ந்திருப்பதை நீங்கள் காணும்போது அதன் அழிவு நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது என அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள். அப்போது யூதேயாவில் உள்ளவர்கள் மலைகளுக்குத் தப்பி ஓடட்டும்; நகரத்தின் நடுவில் உள்ளவர்கள் வெளியேறட்டும்; நாட்டுப் புறங்களில் இருப்பவர்கள் நகரத்துக்குள்ளே வரவேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் அவை பழிவாங்கும் நாள்கள். அப்போது மறைநூலில் எழுதியுள்ள யாவும் நிறைவேறும்.

அந்நாள்களில் கருவுற்றிருப்போர், பாலூட்டுவோர் ஆகியோரின் நிலைமை அந்தோ பரிதாபம்! ஏனெனில் மண்ணுலகின்மீது பேரிடரும் அம்மக்கள்மீது கடவுளின் சினமும் வரும். அவர்கள் கூரான வாளால் வீழ்த்தப்படுவார்கள்; எல்லா நாடுகளுக்கும் சிறைப்பிடித்துச் செல்லப்படுவார்கள்; பிற இனத்தார் காலம் நிறைவு பெறும்வரை எருசலேம் அவர்களால் மிதிக்கப்படும்.

மேலும் கதிரவனிலும் நிலாவிலும் விண்மீன்களிலும் அடையாளங்கள் தென்படும். மண்ணுலகில் மக்களினங்கள் கடலின் கொந்தளிப்பின் முழக்கத்தினால் கலங்கி, என்ன செய்வதென்று தெரியாது குழப்பம் அடைவார்கள். உலகிற்கு என்ன நேருமோ என எண்ணி மனிதர் அச்சத்தினால் மயக்கமுறுவர். ஏனெனில், வான்வெளிக் கோள்கள் அதிரும்.

அப்போது மிகுந்த வல்லமையோடும் மாட்சியோடும் மானிடமகன் மேகங்கள்மீது வருவதை அவர்கள் காண்பார்கள். இவை நிகழத் தொடங்கும்போது, நீங்கள் தலை நிமிர்ந்து நில்லுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் உங்கள் மீட்பு நெருங்கி வருகின்றது.”

கடவுள் தம் தூதரை அனுப்பிச் சிங்கங்களின் வாய்களைக் கட்டிப் போட்டார்.

இறைவாக்கினர் தானியேல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 11-27

அந்நாள்களில்

முன்னரே கூடிப் பேசிக்கொண்டபடி, அந்த மனிதர்கள் உள்ளே நுழைந்து தானியேல் தம் கடவுளிடம் வேண்டுவதையும் மன்றாடுவதையும் கண்டார்கள்.

உடனே அவர்கள் அரசனை அணுகி, அவனது தடையுத்தரவைப் பற்றிக் குறிப்பிட்டு, “அரசரே! முப்பது நாள்வரையில் அரசராகிய உம்மிடமன்றி வேறெந்தத் தெய்வத்திடமோ மனிதனிடமோ யாதொரு விண்ணப்பமும் செய்கின்ற எந்த மனிதனும் சிங்கக் குகையில் தள்ளப்படுவான் என்ற தடையுத்தரவில் கையொப்பமிட்டுள்ளீர் அல்லவா?” என்றார்கள்.

அதற்கு அரசன், “ஆம், மேதியர், பாரசீகரின் சட்டங்கள் மாறாதிருப்பது போல், இதுவும் மாறாததே” என்றான்.

உடனே அவர்கள் அரசனை நோக்கி, “யூதாவிலிருந்து சிறைப்பிடித்துக் கொண்டு வரப்பட்டவர்களுள் ஒருவனாகிய தானியேல் உம்மை மதியாமல், நீர் கையொப்பமிட்டுள்ள தடையுத்தரவை மீறி நாள்தோறும் மூன்று வேளையும் வேண்டுதல் செய்கிறான்” என்றார்கள். ஆனால், அரசன் இந்தச் சொற்களைக் கேட்டு மிகவும் மனம் வருந்தினான்; தானியேலைக் காப்பாற்றத் தனக்குள் உறுதி பூண்டவனாய், அன்று கதிரவன் மறையும் வரையில் அவரைக் காப்பாற்ற வழி தேடினான்.

ஆனால் அந்த மனிதர்கள் முன்னரே கூடிப் பேசிக்கொண்டபடி, அரசனிடம் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி, “அரசரே! மேதியர், பாரசீகரின் சட்டப்படி, அரசன் விடுத்த தடையுத்தரவோ சட்டமோ மாற்றத்திற்கு அப்பாற்பட்டது என்பதைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளும்” என்றனர்.

ஆகவே, அரசனுடைய கட்டளைப்படி தானியேல் கொண்டு வரப்பட்டுச் சிங்கக் குகையில் தள்ளப்பட்டார். அப்பொழுது அரசன் தானியேலை நோக்கி, “நீ இடைவிடாமல் வழிபடும் உன் கடவுள் உன்னை விடுவிப்பாராக!” என்றான். அவர்கள் ஒரு பெரிய கல்லைப் புரட்டிக் கொண்டுவந்து குகையின் வாயிலை அடைத்தார்கள்; தானியேலுக்குச் செய்யப்பட்டதில் யாதொன்றும் மாற்றப்படாதிருக்கும்படி அரசன் தன் மோதிரத்தாலும் தம் உயர்குடி மக்களின் மோதிரங்களாலும் அதற்கு முத்திரையிட்டான்.

பின்னர் அரசன் அரண்மனைக்குத் திரும்பிச்சென்று, அன்றிரவு முழுவதும் உணவு கொள்ளவில்லை; வேறு எந்தக் களியாட்டத்திலும் ஈடுபடவில்லை. உறக்கமும் அவனை விட்டு அகன்றது. பொழுது புலர்ந்தவுடன், அவன் எழுந்து சிங்கக் குகைக்கு விரைந்து சென்றான். தானியேல் இருந்த குகையருகில் வந்தவுடன் துயரக் குரலில் அவன் தானியேலை நோக்கி, “தானியேல்! என்றுமுள கடவுளின் ஊழியனே! நீ இடைவிடாமல் வழிபடும் உன் கடவுளால் உன்னைச் சிங்கங்களினின்று விடுவிக்க முடிந்ததா?” என்று உரக்கக் கேட்டான்.

அதற்குத் தானியேல் அரசனிடம், “அரசரே! நீர் நீடூழி வாழ்க! என் கடவுள் தம் தூதரை அனுப்பிச் சிங்கங்களின் வாய்களைக் கட்டிப் போட்டார். அவை எனக்குத் தீங்கு எதுவும் செய்யவில்லை; ஏனெனில் அவர் திருமுன் நான் மாசற்றவன். மேலும் அரசரே! உம் முன்னிலையிலும் நான் குற்றமற்றவனே” என்று மறுமொழி கொடுத்தார். எனவே, அரசன் மிகவும் மனம் மகிழ்ந்து, உடனே தானியேலைக் குகையிலிருந்து விடுவிக்குமாறு கட்டளையிட்டான். அவ்வாறே தானியேலைக் குகையிலிருந்து வெளியே தூக்கினார்கள். அவருக்கு யாதொரு தீங்கும் நேரிடவில்லை; ஏனெனில் அவர் தம் கடவுளை உறுதியாக நம்பினார். பிறகு அரசனது கட்டளைக்கிணங்க, தானியேலைக் குற்றம் சாட்டியவர்கள் இழுத்துக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டனர். அவர்களும் அவர்களுடைய மனைவி, மக்களும் சிங்கக் குகையினுள் தள்ளப்பட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் குகையின் அடித்தளத்தை அடையும் முன்னே சிங்கங்கள் அவர்களைக் கவ்விப் பிடித்து, அவர்களுடைய எலும்புகளை எல்லாம் நொறுக்கிவிட்டன.

அப்பொழுது தாரியு அரசன் நாடெங்கும் வாழ்ந்துவந்த எல்லா இனத்தவருக்கும் நாட்டினருக்கும் மொழியினருக்கும் ஓர் அறிக்கை விடுத்தான். “உங்களுக்கு மிகுந்த சமாதானம் உண்டாவதாக! என் ஆட்சிக்குட்பட்ட நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள மக்கள் தானியேலின் கடவுளுக்கு அஞ்சி நடுங்க வேண்டும். இது என் ஆணை. ஏனெனில், அவரே வாழும் கடவுள்; அவர் என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கின்றார்; அவரது ஆட்சி என்றும் அழிவற்றது; அவரது அரசுரிமைக்கு முடிவே இராது. தானியேலைச் சிங்கங்களின் பிடியினின்று காப்பாற்றியவர் அவரே; அவரே மீட்பவர்! விடுதலை அளிப்பவரும் அவரே! விண்ணிலும் மண்ணிலும் அரிய செயல்களையும் விந்தைகளையும் ஆற்றுபவர் அவரே!”

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, for these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all that is written. Alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. A Reading from the Book of Daniel 6: 12-28. 

In those days: Some men came by agreement and found Daniel making petition and plea before his God. Then they came near and said before the king, concerning the injunction, “O king! Did you not sign an injunction, that anyone who makes petition to any god or man within thirty days except to you, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions?” The king answered and said, “The thing stands fast, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be revoked.” Then they answered and said before the king, “Daniel, who is one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or the injunction you have signed, but makes his petition three times a day.” Then the king, when he heard these words, was much distressed and set his mind to deliver Daniel. And he laboured till the sun went down to rescue him. Then these men came by agreement to the king and said to the king, “Know, O king, that it is a law of the Medes and Persians that no injunction or ordinance that the king establishes can be changed.” Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!” And a stone was brought and laid on the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, that nothing might be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace and spent the night fasting; no diversions were brought to him, and sleep fled from him. Then, at break of day, the king arose and went in haste to the den of lions. As he came near to the den where Daniel was, he cried out in a tone of anguish. The king declared to Daniel, “O Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?” Then Daniel said to the king, “O king, live for ever! My God sent his angel and shut the lions’ mouths, and they have not harmed me,

because I was found blameless before him; and also before you, O king, I have done no harm.” Then the king was exceedingly glad, and commanded that Daniel be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no kind of harm was found on him, because he had trusted in his God. And the king commanded, and those men who had maliciously accused Daniel were brought and cast into the den of lions— they, their children, and their wives. And before they reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and broke all their bones in pieces. Then King Darius wrote

to all the peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: “Peace be multiplied to you. I make a decree, that in all my royal dominion people are to tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for he is the living God, enduring for ever; his kingdom shall never be destroyed, and his dominion shall be to the end. He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.”

அந்நாள்களில்

பெல்சாட்சர் என்ற அரசன் உயர்குடி மக்கள் ஆயிரம் பேருக்குப் பெரியதொரு விருந்து வைத்தான்; அந்த ஆயிரம் பேருடன் அவனும் திராட்சை மது குடித்தான். அவ்வாறு குடித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தபொழுது, அரசன் தானும் தன் மனைவியரும் வைப்பாட்டிகளும் குடிப்பதற்கென்று, தன் தந்தையாகிய நெபுகத்னேசர் எருசலேம் திருக்கோவிலிலிருந்து கொண்டு வந்திருந்த பொன், வெள்ளிக் கிண்ணங்களைக் கொண்டுவரச் சொன்னான்.

அதன்படி, எருசலேமிலிருந்த கடவுளின் கோவிலிலிருந்து கொண்டு வந்த பொன் கிண்ணங்களை எடுத்து வந்தார்கள்; அரசனும் அவனுடைய உயர்குடி மக்களும், அவனுடைய மனைவியரும், வைப்பாட்டியரும் அந்தக் கிண்ணங்களிலிருந்து குடித்தார்கள். அவர்கள் திராட்சை மது குடித்துக் கொண்டே பொன், வெள்ளி, வெண்கலம், இரும்பு, மரம், கல் ஆகியவற்றாலான தங்கள் தெய்வங்களைப் புகழ்ந்தார்கள்.

திடீரென்று ஒரு மனிதனுடைய கைவிரல்கள் தோன்றி அரசனது அரண்மனை உட்சுவரில் விளக்குத் தூணுக்கு எதிரே எழுதத் தொடங்கின. அவ்வாறு எழுதும்போது அரசன் அந்த உள்ளங்கையைப் பார்த்தான். அதைக் கண்டு அரசன் முகம் கறுத்து, நெஞ்சம் கலங்கி, குலைநடுங்கி, தொடை நடுக்கமுற்றான்.

இதற்கு விளக்கம் அளிக்குமாறு, அரசன் முன்னிலைக்குத் தானியேல் அழைத்து வரப்பட்டார். அரசன் அவரைப் பார்த்து, “என் தந்தையாகிய அரசன் யூதாவிலிருந்து சிறைப்பிடித்து வந்தவர்களுள் ஒருவனாகிய தானியேல் என்பவன் நீதானே? உன்னிடத்தில் புனிதமிகு கடவுளின் ஆவியும் அறிவொளியும் நுண்ணறிவும் சிறந்த ஞானமும் உண்டென உன்னைப் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டுள்ளேன். விளக்கங்கள் கூறவும் சிக்கல்களைத் தீர்க்கவும் உன்னால் முடியும் எனக் கேள்விப்படுகிறேன். இப்பொழுது நீ இந்தச் சொற்களைப் படித்து இவற்றின் உட்பொருளை விளக்கினால், உனக்கு அரச உடை உடுத்தி, கழுத்தில் பொன் மாலை அணிவித்து, என் அரசில் மூன்றாம் நிலையில் உன்னை அமர்த்துவேன்” என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது அரசனுக்குத் தானியேல் மறுமொழியாகக் கூறியது: “உம்முடைய அன்பளிப்புகள் உம்மிடமே இருக்கட்டும்; உம் பரிசுகளை வேறு யாருக்காவது கொடும். ஆயினும், இந்தச் சொற்களை அரசருக்குப் படித்துக் காட்டி அவற்றின் உட்பொருளை விளக்கிக் கூறுவேன். விண்ணுலக ஆண்டவருக்கு எதிராக உம்மையே உயர்த்தினீர்; அவரது கோவிலின் கிண்ணங்களைக் கொண்டு வரச் செய்து, நீரும் உம் உயர்குடி மக்களும், உம்முடைய மனைவியரும், வைப்பாட்டியரும் அவற்றிலிருந்து திராட்சை மது குடித்தீர்கள்; மேலும் காணவோ, கேட்கவோ, எதையும் உணரவோ இயலாத வெள்ளி, பொன், வெண்கலம், இரும்பு, மரம், கல் ஆகியவற்றாலான தெய்வங்களைப் புகழ்ந்தீர்கள். ஆனால் உமது உயிரையும் உம் வழிகளையும் தம் கைக்குள் வைத்திருக்கும் கடவுளை நீர் பெருமைப்படுத்தவில்லை. ஆகையால் அவர் இந்தக் கையைத் தம் திருமுன்னின்று அனுப்பி, இந்த எழுத்துக்களைப் பொறிக்கச் செய்தார்."

பொறிக்கப்பட்ட சொற்களாவன: “மேனே மேனே, தேகேல், பார்சின்” இவற்றின் உட்பொருள்: ‘மேனே: கடவுள் உமது அரசின் நாள்களை எண்ணி வரையறுத்து அதனை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டு வந்துவிட்டார். தேகேல்: நீர் தராசில் நிறுக்கப்பட்டீர்; எடையில் மிகவும் குறைந்துள்ளீர். பார்சின்: உமது அரசு பிரிக்கப்பட்டு மேதியருக்கும் பாரசீகருக்கும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது’ என்றார்.

In those days: King Belshazzar made a great feast for a thousand of his lords and drank wine in front of the thousand. Belshazzar, when he tasted the wine, commanded that the vessels of gold and of silver that Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple in Jerusalem be brought, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them. Then they brought in the golden vessels that had been taken out of the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them. They drank wine and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone. Immediately the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace, opposite the lampstand. And the king saw the hand as it wrote. Then the king’s colour changed, and his thoughts alarmed him; his limbs gave way, and his knees knocked together. Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king answered and said to Daniel, “You are that Daniel, one of the exiles of Judah, whom the king my father brought from Judah. I have heard of you that the spirit of the gods is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you. “I have heard that you can give interpretations and solve problems. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold round your neck and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.” Then Daniel answered and said before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king and make known to him the interpretation.

You have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And the vessels of his house have been brought in before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honoured. “Then from his presence the hand was sent, and this writing was inscribed. And this is the writing that was inscribed: Mene, Mene, Tekel, and Parsin. This is the interpretation of the matter:

Mene, God has numbered the days of your kingdom and brought it to an end; Tekel, you have been weighed in the balances and found wanting; Peres, your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”

அக்காலத்தில்

கோவிலைப் பற்றிச் சிலர் பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். கவின்மிகு கற்களாலும், நேர்ச்சைப் பொருள்களாலும் கோவில் அழகுபடுத்தப் பட்டிருக்கிறது என்று சிலர் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். இயேசு, “இவற்றை யெல்லாம் பார்க்கிறீர்கள் அல்லவா? ஒரு காலம் வரும்; அப்போது கற்கள் ஒன்றின்மேல் ஒன்று இராதபடி இவையெல்லாம் இடிக்கப்படும்” என்றார்.

அவர்கள் இயேசுவிடம், “போதகரே, நீர் கூறியவை எப்போது நிகழும்? இவை நிகழப்போகும் காலத்திற்கான அறிகுறி என்ன?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

அதற்கு அவர், “நீங்கள் ஏமாறாதவாறு பார்த்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் பலர் என் பெயரை வைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்து, ‘நானே அவர்’ என்றும், ‘காலம் நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது’ என்றும் கூறுவார்கள்; அவர்கள் பின்னே போகாதீர்கள். ஆனால் போர் முழக்கங்களையும் குழப்பங்களையும் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்படும்போது திகிலுறாதீர்கள்; ஏனெனில் இவை முதலில் நிகழத்தான் வேண்டும். ஆனால் உடனே முடிவு வராது” என்றார்.

மேலும் அவர் அவர்களிடம் தொடர்ந்து கூறியது: “நாட்டை எதிர்த்து நாடும் அரசை எதிர்த்து அரசும் எழும். பெரிய நிலநடுக்கங்களும் பல இடங்களில் பஞ்சமும் கொள்ளைநோயும் ஏற்படும்; அச்சுறுத்தக்கூடிய பெரிய அடையாளங்களும் வானில் தோன்றும்.”

அந்நாள்களில்

தானியேல் அரசனுக்குச் சொன்ன மறுமொழி: “அரசரே! நீர் பெரிய சிலை ஒன்றைக் கண்டீர். உம் கண் எதிரே நின்ற அம்மாபெரும் சிலை பளபளக்கும் ஒளிமிக்கதாயும் அச்சுறுத்தும் தோற்றமுடையதாயும் இருந்தது. அச்சிலையின் தலை பசும்பொன்னால் ஆனது; அதன் மார்பும் புயங்களும் வெள்ளியால் ஆனவை; வயிறும் தொடைகளும் வெண்கலத்தால் ஆனவை. அதன் கால்கள் இரும்பினால் ஆனவை; அதன் காலடிகள் ஒரு பகுதி இரும்பினாலும் மறு பகுதி களிமண்ணாலும் ஆனவை.

நீர் அச்சிலையைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தபொழுது, மனிதக் கை படாத கல் ஒன்று பெயர்ந்து உருண்டு வந்தது. அந்தக் கல் இரும்பினாலும் களிமண்ணாலுமான அதன் காலடிகளில் வந்து மோதி அவற்றை நொறுக்கியது. அப்பொழுது இரும்பு, களிமண், வெண்கலம், வெள்ளி, பொன் ஆகியவை யாவும் நொறுங்கி, கோடை காலத்தில் கதிரடிக்கும் களத்துப் பதரைப் போல் ஆயின. அவற்றின் அடையாளம் இராதபடி காற்று அவற்றை அடித்துக் கொண்டு போய்விட்டது; ஆனால் சிலையை மோதிய அந்தக் கல் பெரிய மலை ஆகி உலகம் முழுவதையும் நிரப்பிற்று.

அரசரே! இதுவே நீர் கண்ட கனவு; அதன் உட்பொருளையும் உமக்கு இப்பொழுது விளக்கிக் கூறுவோம். அரசரே! நீர் அரசர்க்கரசராய் விளங்குகின்றீர். விண்ணகக் கடவுள் உமக்கு அரசுரிமை, ஆற்றல், வலிமை, மாட்சி ஆகியவற்றைத் தந்துள்ளார். உலகெங்கும் உள்ள மனிதர்களையும், வயல்வெளி விலங்குகளையும், வானத்துப் பறவைகளையும் உம் பொறுப்பில் அவர் ஒப்படைத்து, அவற்றையெல்லாம் நீர் ஒருவரே ஆளும்படி செய்துள்ளார். எனவே, பொன்னாலாகிய சிலையின் தலை உம்மையே குறிக்கின்றது.

உமக்குப்பின் உமது அரசை விட ஆற்றல் குறைந்த வேறோர் அரசு தோன்றும்; அடுத்து வெண்கலம் போன்ற மூன்றாம் அரசு எழும்பும்; அது உலகெல்லாம் ஆளும். பின்னர், அனைத்தையும் நொறுக்கும் இரும்பைப் போல் வலிமை வாய்ந்த நான்காம் அரசு தோன்றும்; அந்த அரசும் இரும்பு நொறுக்குவது போல் அனைத்தையும் தகர்த்துத் தவிடுபொடியாக்கும்.

மேலும், நீர் அச்சிலையின் அடிகளையும் கால் விரல்களையும், ஒரு பகுதி குயவனின் களிமண்ணாகவும், மறு பகுதி இரும்பாகவும் கண்டதற்கிணங்க, அந்த அரசு பிளவுபட்ட அரசாய் இருக்கும். ஆனால், சேற்றுக் களிமண்ணோடு இரும்பு கலந்திருக்க நீர் கண்டதற்கிணங்க, இரும்பின் உறுதியும் ஓரளவு காணப்படும். அடிகளின் விரல்கள் ஒரு பகுதி இரும்பும் மறு பகுதி களிமண்ணுமாய் இருந்தது போல் அந்த அரசும் ஓரளவு வலிமையுள்ளதாயும் ஓரளவு வலிமையற்றதாயும் இருக்கும். இரும்பு களிமண்ணோடு கலந்திருப்பதாக நீர் கண்டதற்கிணங்க, அவர்களும் தங்களுக்குள் திருமணத்தின் மூலம் உறவு கொள்வார்கள்; ஆனால் இரும்பு களிமண்ணோடு கலக்காதது போல், அவர்கள் ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் ஒன்றித்திருக்க மாட்டார்கள்.

அந்த அரசர்களின் காலத்தில் விண்ணகக் கடவுள் ஓர் அரசை நிறுவுவார்; அது என்றுமே அழியாது; அதன் ஆட்சியுரிமை வேறெந்த மக்களினத்திற்கும் தரப்படாது. அது மற்ற அரசுகளை எல்லாம் நொறுக்கி அவற்றிற்கு முடிவுகட்டும்; அதுவோ என்றென்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கும். மனிதக் கை படாது பெயர்ந்து மலையிலிருந்து உருண்டு வந்து, இரும்பையும் வெண்கலத்தையும் களிமண்ணையும் வெள்ளியையும் பொன்னையும் நொறுக்கியதாக நீர் கண்ட அந்தக் கல் இந்த அரசையே குறிக்கிறது. இவ்வாறு எதிர்காலத்தில் நிகழப்போவதை மாபெரும் கடவுள் அரசருக்குத் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார். கனவும் உண்மையானது; அதன் உட்பொருள் நிறைவேறுவதும் உறுதி.

As you looked, a stone was cut out by no human hand, and it struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, all together were broken in pieces, and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that not a trace of them could be found. And as you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it shall be a divided kingdom, but some of the firmness of iron shall be in it, just as you saw iron mixed with the soft clay. And as the toes of the feet were partly iron and partly clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly brittle. As you saw the iron mixed with soft clay,

so they will mix with one another in marriage, but they will not hold together, just as iron does not mix with clay. And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand for ever, just as you saw that a stone was cut from a mountain by no human hand, and that it broke in pieces the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold. A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.”

வறுமையில் வாடிய ஒரு கைம்பெண் இரண்டு காசுகளை அதில் போடுவதைக் கண்டார்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு நிமிர்ந்து பார்த்தபோது செல்வர்கள் தங்கள் காணிக்கைகளைக் காணிக்கைப் பெட்டிக்குள் போடுவதைக் கண்டார். வறுமையில் வாடிய ஒரு கைம்பெண்ணும் இரண்டு காசுகளை அதில் போடுவதைக் கண்டார்.

அவர், “இந்த ஏழைக் கைம்பெண் எல்லாரையும் விட மிகுதியான காணிக்கை போட்டிருக்கிறார் என உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் அனைவரும் தங்களுக்கு இருந்த மிகுதியான செல்வத்திலிருந்து காணிக்கை போட்டனர். இவரோ தமக்குப் பற்றாக்குறை இருந்தும் தம் பிழைப்புக்காக வைத்திருந்த எல்லாவற்றையுமே போட்டுவிட்டார்” என்றார்.
