தாவீதின் மகனான யோசேப்புக்கு மண ஒப்பந்தமான மரியாவிடமிருந்து இயேசு பிறப்பார்.

✠ மத்தேயு எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 18-24

இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் பிறப்பையொட்டிய நிகழ்ச்சிகள்:

அவருடைய தாய் மரியாவுக்கும் யோசேப்புக்கும் திருமண ஒப்பந்தம் செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது. அவர்கள் கூடி வாழும் முன் மரியா கருவுற்றிருந்தது தெரிய வந்தது. அவர் தூய ஆவியால் கருவுற்றிருந்தார். அவர் கணவர் யோசேப்பு நேர்மையாளர். அவர் மரியாவை இகழ்ச்சிக்கு உள்ளாக்க விரும்பாமல் மறைவாக விலக்கிவிடத் திட்டமிட்டார். அவர் இவ்வாறு சிந்தித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது ஆண்டவரின் தூதர் அவருக்குக் கனவில் தோன்றி, “யோசேப்பே, தாவீதின் மகனே, உம்மனைவி மரியாவை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள அஞ்ச வேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் அவர் கருவுற்றிருப்பது தூய ஆவியால்தான். அவர் ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்றெடுப்பார். அவருக்கு இயேசு எனப் பெயரிடுவீர். ஏனெனில் அவர் தம் மக்களை அவர்களுடைய பாவங்களிலிருந்து மீட்பார்” என்றார்.

“இதோ! கன்னி கருவுற்று ஓர் ஆண்மகவைப் பெற்றெடுப்பார். அக்குழந்தைக்கு இம்மானுவேல் எனப் பெயரிடுவர்” என்று இறைவாக்கினர் வாயிலாக ஆண்டவர் உரைத்தது நிறைவேறவே இவை யாவும் நிகழ்ந்தன. இம்மானுவேல் என்றால் ‘கடவுள் நம்முடன் இருக்கிறார்’ என்பது பொருள். யோசேப்பு தூக்கத்திலிருந்து விழித்தெழுந்து ஆண்டவரின் தூதர் தமக்குப் பணித்தவாறே தம் மனைவியை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் உரோமையருக்கு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 1-7

கடவுளின் அன்பைப் பெற்று இறைமக்களாக அழைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள உரோமை நகர மக்கள் அனைவருக்கும் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் பணியாளனும் திருத்தூதனாக அழைப்புப் பெற்றவனும் கடவுளின் நற்செய்திப் பணிக்கென ஒதுக்கி வைக்கப்பட்டவனுமாகிய பவுல் எழுதுவது:

நம் தந்தையாம் கடவுளிடமிருந்தும் ஆண்டவராம் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவிடமிருந்தும் உங்களுக்கு அருளும் அமைதியும் உரித்தாகுக!

நற்செய்தியைத் தருவதாகக் கடவுள் தம் இறைவாக்கினர் வழியாக ஏற்கெனவே திருமறை நூலில் வாக்களித்திருந்தார். இந்த நற்செய்தி அவருடைய மகனைப் பற்றியதாகும். இவர் மனிதர் என்னும் முறையில் தாவீதின் வழிமரபினர்; தூய ஆவியால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்ட நிலையில் வல்லமையுள்ள இறைமகன். இவர் இறந்து உயிர்த்தெழுந்ததால் இந்த உண்மை நிலைநாட்டப்பட்டது. இவரே நம் ஆண்டவர் இயேசு கிறிஸ்து. பிற இனத்தார் அனைவரும் இவர்மீது நம்பிக்கை கொண்டு இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியுமாறு இவர் பெயர் விளங்க இவர் வழியாகவே நாங்கள் திருத்தூதுப்பணி செய்வதற்குரிய அருளைப் பெற்றுக் கொண்டோம். பிற இனத்தவராகிய நீங்களும் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு உரியவர்களாய் இருக்க அழைப்புப் பெற்றிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

அந்நாள்களில்

ஆண்டவர் ஆகாசுக்கு மீண்டும் தம் திருவாக்கை அருளிச் சொல்லியது: “உம் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் உமக்கு ஓர் அடையாளத்தை அருளுமாறு கேளும்; அது கீழே பாதாளத்திலோ, மேலே வானத்திலோ தோன்றுமாறு கேட்டுக்கொள்ளும்” என்றார். அதற்கு ஆகாசு, “நான் கேட்கமாட்டேன். ஆண்டவரைச் சோதிக்க மாட்டேன்” என்றார்.

அதற்கு எசாயா: “தாவீதின் குடும்பத்தாரே! நான்சொல்வதைக் கேளுங்கள்; மனிதரின் பொறுமையைச் சோதித்து மனம் சலிப்படையச் செய்தது போதாதோ? என் கடவுளின் பொறுமையைக்கூட சோதிக்கப் பார்க்கிறீர்களோ? ஆதலால் ஆண்டவர்தாமே உங்களுக்கு ஓர் அடையாளத்தை அருள்வார். இதோ, கருவுற்றிருக்கும் அந்த இளம் பெண் ஓர் ஆண்மகவைப் பெற்றெடுப்பார்; அக்குழந்தைக்கு அவள் ‘இம்மானுவேல்’ என்று பெயரிடுவார்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 1:18-24 

Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to send her away quietly. But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife.

A Reading from the Letter of St.Paul to the Romans 1:1-7 

Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
