அக்காலத்தில்

இடையர்கள் பெத்லகேமுக்கு விரைந்து சென்று, மரியாவையும் யோசேப்பையும் தீவனத் தொட்டியில் கிடத்தியிருந்த குழந்தையையும் கண்டார்கள். பின்பு அந்தக் குழந்தையைப் பற்றித் தங்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்ட செய்தியைத் தெரிவித்தார்கள். அதைக் கேட்ட யாவரும், இடையர்கள் தங்களுக்குச் சொன்னவற்றைக் குறித்து வியப்படைந்தனர். ஆனால் மரியா இந்நிகழ்ச்சிகளையெல்லாம் தம் உள்ளத்தில் இருத்திச் சிந்தித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார். இடையர்கள் தாங்கள் கேட்டவை, கண்டவை அனைத்தையும் குறித்துக் கடவுளைப் போற்றிப் புகழ்ந்து பாடிக்கொண்டே திரும்பிச் சென்றார்கள். அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டவாறு எல்லாம் நிகழ்ந்திருந்தது.

குழந்தைக்கு விருத்தசேதனம் செய்யவேண்டிய எட்டாம் நாள் வந்தது. தாயின் வயிற்றில் உருவாகுமுன்பே வானதூதர் சொல்லியிருந்தவாறு அதற்கு இயேசு என்று பெயரிட்டார்கள்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

காலம் நிறைவேறியபோது திருச்சட்டத்திற்கு உட்பட்டிருந்த நம்மை மீட்டுத் தம் பிள்ளைகள் ஆக்குமாறு கடவுள் தம் மகனைப் பெண்ணிடம் பிறந்தவராகவும் திருச்சட்டத்திற்கு உட்பட்டவராகவும் அனுப்பினார்.

நீங்கள் பிள்ளைகளாய் இருப்பதால் கடவுள் தம் மகனின் ஆவியை உங்கள் உள்ளங்களுக்குள் அனுப்பியுள்ளார்; அந்த ஆவி ‘அப்பா, தந்தையே,’ எனக் கூப்பிடுகிறது. ஆகையால் இனி நீங்கள் அடிமைகளல்ல; பிள்ளைகள்தாம்; பிள்ளைகளாகவும் உரிமைப்பேறு உடையவர்களாகவும் இருக்கிறீர்கள். இது கடவுளின் செயலே.
