இயேசு கடல்மீது நடப்பதைக் கண்டனர்.

✠ மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 45-52

ஐயாயிரம் பேர் உணவு உண்ட பின் இயேசு கூட்டத்தினரை அனுப்பிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அப்பொழுது தம் சீடரையும் உடனே படகேறித் தமக்கு முன் அக்கரையிலுள்ள பெத்சாய்தாவுக்குச் செல்லுமாறு அவர் கட்டாயப்படுத்தினார். அவர் அவர்களிடமிருந்து விடைபெற்றுக் கொண்டு, இறைவனிடம் வேண்டுவதற்காக ஒரு மலைக்குச் சென்றார்.

பொழுது சாய்ந்த பிறகும் படகு நடுக்கடலில் இருந்தது. ஆனால் அவர் தனியே கரையில் இருந்தார். அப்போது எதிர்க்காற்று அடித்தது. சீடர்கள் தண்டு வலிக்கப் பெரிதும் வருந்துவதைக் கண்ட அவர் கடல்மீது நடந்து அவர்களை நோக்கி வந்தார்; அவர்களைக் கடந்து செல்ல விரும்பினார். அப்போது ஏறக்குறைய நான்காம் காவல்வேளை. அவர் கடல்மீது நடப்பதைக் கண்டு, ‘அது பேய்’ என்று எண்ணி அவர்கள் அலறினார்கள். ஏனெனில் எல்லாருமே அவரைக் கண்டு அஞ்சிக் கலங்கினர். உடனே இயேசு அவர்களிடம் பேசினார். “துணிவோடு இருங்கள்; நான்தான், அஞ்சாதீர்கள்” என்றார்; பிறகு அவர்களோடு படகில் ஏறினார். காற்று அடங்கியது. அவர்கள் மிகமிக மலைத்துப் போனார்கள்.

ஏனெனில் அப்பங்கள் பற்றிய நிகழ்ச்சியை அவர்கள் புரிந்து கொள்ளவில்லை. அவர்கள் உள்ளம் மழுங்கிப் போயிருந்தது.

நாம் ஒருவர் மற்றவரிடம் அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோம் என்றால் கடவுள் நம்மோடு நிலைத்திருக்கிறார்.

அன்பார்ந்தவர்களே,

கடவுள் நம்மீது அன்பு கொண்டார் என்றால், நாமும் ஒருவர் மற்றவர்மீது அன்பு கொள்ளக் கடமைப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம். கடவுளை எவரும் என்றுமே கண்டதில்லை. நாம் ஒருவர் மற்றவரிடம் அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளோம் என்றால் கடவுள் நம்மோடு இணைந்திருப்பார்; அவரது அன்பு நம்மிடம் நிறைவு பெறும்.

அவர் தமது ஆவியை நமக்கு அருளியதால் நாம் அவரோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறோம் எனவும் அவர் நம்மிடம் இணைந்திருக்கிறார் எனவும் அறிந்துகொள்கிறோம். தந்தை தம் மகனை உலகிற்கு மீட்பராக அனுப்பினார் என்பதை நாங்களே கண்டறிந்தோம்; சான்றும் பகர்கிறோம். இயேசுவே இறைமகன் என ஏற்று அறிக்கையிடுபவரோடு கடவுள் இணைந்திருக்கிறார்; அவரும் கடவுளோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறார்.

கடவுள் நம்மிடம் கொண்டுள்ள அன்பை அறிந்துள்ளோம்; அதை நம்புகிறோம். கடவுள் அன்பாய் இருக்கிறார். அன்பில் நிலைத்திருக்கிறவர் கடவுளோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறார். கடவுளும் அவரோடு இணைந்திருக்கிறார். கடவுள் இருப்பதுபோல் நாமும் இவ்வுலகில் இருக்கிறோம். எனவே தீர்ப்பு நாளில் உறுதியான நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருப்போம். இவ்வாறு நம்மிடையே உள்ள அன்பு நிறைவடைகிறது. அன்பில் அச்சத்திற்கு இடமில்லை; மாறாக நிறை அன்பு அச்சத்தை அகற்றிவிடும். ஏனெனில் அச்சத்தில் தண்டனை உணர்வு அடங்கியுள்ளது; அச்சம் கொண்டுள்ளவரிடம் அன்பு முழு நிறைவு அடையாது.

After the five thousand men were satisfied, Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dismissed the crowd. And after he had taken leave of them, he went up on the mountain to pray. And when evening came, the boat was out on the sea, and he was alone on the land. And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.” And he got into the boat with them, and the wind ceased. And they were utterly astounded, for they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

As long as we love one another God's love will be complete in us

A Reading from the First Letter of St.John 4: 11-18 

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us,

so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
