MASS READINGS
FIRST READING
"In our life as in our death, we belong to the Lord"
Reading of the letter of Saint Paul the apostle to the Romans 14: 7-12
Brothers,
none of us lives for ourselves,
and none of us dies for ourselves:
if we live, we live for the Lord;
if we die, we die for the Lord.
Thus, in our life as in our death,
we belong to the Lord.
For if Christ knew death, then life,
it was to become the Lord both of the dead and of the living.
So you, why judge your brother?
You, why despise your brother?
All of us, indeed, will appear before the tribunal of God.
For it is written:
As true as I live, saith the Lord,
every knee shall bow before me,
and every tongue will proclaim the praise of God.
So each of us
will give an account to God for himself.
- Word of the Lord.
