திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்ற இயேசு, கடவுளின் ஆவி தம்மீது இறங்கி வருவதைக் கண்டார்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு யோவானிடம் திருமுழுக்குப் பெறக் கலிலேயாவிலிருந்து யோர்தானுக்கு வந்தார். யோவான், “நான்தான் உம்மிடம் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற வேண்டியவன்; நீரா என்னிடம் வருகிறீர்?” என்று கூறித் தடுத்தார். இயேசு, “இப்பொழுது விட்டுவிடும். கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்புடையவை அனைத்தையும் நாம் நிறைவேற்றுவதுதான் முறை” எனப் பதிலளித்தார். அதற்கு யோவானும் இணங்கினார்.

இயேசு திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றவுடனே தண்ணீரை விட்டு வெளியேறினார். உடனே வானம் திறந்ததையும் கடவுளின் ஆவி, புறா இறங்குவதுபோலத் தம்மீது வருவதையும் அவர் கண்டார். அப்பொழுது, “என் அன்பார்ந்த மைந்தர் இவரே. இவர் பொருட்டு நான் பூரிப்படைகிறேன்” என்று வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு குரல் கேட்டது.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

கடவுள் இயேசுவின்மேல் தூய ஆவியாரின் வல்லமையைப் பொழிந்தருளினார்.

கொர்னேலியு மற்றும் அவரது வீட்டாரை நோக்கிப் பேதுரு கூறியது: “கடவுள் ஆள் பார்த்துச் செயல்படுவதில்லை என்பதை நான் உண்மையாகவே உணர்கிறேன். எல்லா இனத்தவரிலும் அவருக்கு அஞ்சி நடந்து, நேர்மையாகச் செயல்படுபவரே அவருக்கு ஏற்புடையவர்.

இயேசு கிறிஸ்து வாயிலாக அமைதி உண்டு என்னும் நற்செய்தியை அவர் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களுக்கு அனுப்பினார். அவரே அனைவருக்கும் ஆண்டவர். திருமுழுக்குப் பெறுங்கள் என்று யோவான் பறைசாற்றிய பின்பு கலிலேயா முதல் யூதேயா முழுவதிலும் நடந்தது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியும். கடவுள் நாசரேத்து இயேசுவின்மேல் தூய ஆவியாரின் வல்லமையைப் பொழிந்தருளினார். கடவுள் அவரோடு இருந்ததால் அலகையின் கொடுமைக்கு உட்பட்டிருந்த அனைவரையும் அவர் விடுவித்து எங்கும் நன்மை செய்துகொண்டே சென்றார்.

ஆண்டவராகிய நான் நீதியை நிலைநாட்டுமாறு உம்மை அழைத்தேன்; உம் கையைப் பற்றிப்பிடித்து, உம்மைப் பாதுகாப்பேன்; மக்களுக்கு உடன்படிக்கையாகவும் பிற இனத்தாருக்கு ஒளியாகவும் நீர் இருக்குமாறு செய்வேன். பார்வை இழந்தோரின் கண்களைத் திறக்கவும், கைதிகளின் தளைகளை அறுக்கவும், இருளில் இருப்போரைச் சிறையினின்று மீட்கவும் உம்மை அழைத்தேன்.

At that time: Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptised by him. John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptised by you, and do you come to me?” But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness.” Then he consented. And when Jesus was baptised, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

A Reading from the Acts of Apostles 10:34-38

In those days: Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I understand that God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him. As for the word that he sent to Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all), you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Here is my servant, in whom my soul delights

A Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah 42: 1-4, 6-7 

Thus says the Lord: Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;

he will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law. “I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.
