 சனவரி 17 :  நற்செய்தி வாசகம்

நேர்மையாளர்களை அல்ல, பாவிகளையே அழைக்க வந்தேன்.

இயேசு மீண்டும் கடலோரம் சென்றார். மக்கள் கூட்டத்தினர் எல்லாரும் அவரிடம் வரவே, அவர் அவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தார். பின்பு அங்கிருந்து அவர் சென்றபோது அல்பேயுவின் மகன் லேவி சுங்கச் சாவடியில் அமர்ந்திருந்ததைக் கண்டார்; அவரிடம், “என்னைப் பின்பற்றி வா” என்றார். அவரும் எழுந்து இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றிச் சென்றார்.

பின்பு அவருடைய வீட்டில் பந்தி அமர்ந்திருந்தபோது வரிதண்டுபவர்கள், பாவிகள் ஆகிய பலர் இயேசுவோடும் அவருடைய சீடரோடும் விருந்துண்டனர். ஏனெனில் இவர்களுள் பலர் இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றியவர்கள். அவர் பாவிகளோடும் வரிதண்டுபவர்களோடும் உண்பதைப் பரிசேயரைச் சார்ந்த மறைநூல் அறிஞர் கண்டு, அவருடைய சீடரிடம், “இவர் வரிதண்டுபவர்களோடும் பாவிகளோடும் சேர்ந்து உண்பதேன்?” என்று கேட்டனர்.

இயேசு, இதைக் கேட்டவுடன் அவர்களை நோக்கி, “நோயற்றவருக்கு அல்ல, நோயுற்றவருக்கே மருத்துவர் தேவை. நேர்மையாளர்களை அல்ல, பாவிகளையே அழைக்க வந்தேன்." என்றார்.

ஆண்டவரே, உமது வல்லமையில் அரசர் பூரிப்படைகின்றார்; நீர் அளித்த வெற்றியில் எத்துணையோ அவர் அக்களிக்கின்றார்!

நீர்அவருக்கு வெற்றியளித்ததால் அவரது மாட்சிமை பெரிதாயிற்று. மேன்மையையும் மாண்பையும் அவருக்கு அருளினீர்.

உண்மையாகவே, எந்நாளும் நிலைத்திருக்கும் ஆசிகளை அவர் பெற்றுள்ளார்; உமது முகத்தை அவர் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் கண்டு களிக்கச் செய்தீர். - பல்லவி

 ஏழைகளுக்கு நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவும் சிறைப்பட்டோர் விடுதலை அடைவர், பார்வையற்றோர் பார்வை பெறுவர் என முழக்கமிடவும் ஒடுக்கப்பட்டோரை விடுதலை செய்து அனுப்பவும் ஆண்டவர் என்னை அனுப்பியுள்ளார். அல்லேலூயா.

இதோ நான் உனக்குச் சொன்ன மனிதன் சவுல்! இவனே என் மக்கள்மீது ஆட்சிபுரிவான்.

அந்நாள்களில்

பென்யமின் குலத்தில் கீசு என்ற ஆற்றல்மிகு வீரர் ஒருவர் இருந்தார். அவர் பென்யமினியன் அபியாவுக்குப் பிறந்த பெக்கோராத்தின் மகனான செரோரின் மகன் அபியேலுக்குப் பிறந்தவர். அவருக்குச் சவுல் என்ற ஓர் இளமையும் அழகும் கொண்ட மகன் இருந்தார். இஸ்ரயேலின் புதல்வருள் அவரைவிட அழகு வாய்ந்தவர் எவரும் இலர். மற்ற அனைவரையும்விட அவர் உயரமானவர். மற்ற அனைவரும் அவர் தோள் உயரமே இருந்தனர்.

சவுலின் தந்தை கீசின் கழுதைகள் காணாமற் போயின. கீசு தம் மகன் சவுலை அழைத்து, “பணியாளன் ஒருவனை உன்னோடு கூட்டிக் கொண்டு, கழுதைகளைத் தேடிப் போ” என்றார். அவர் எப்ராயிம் மலைநாட்டையும் சாலிசா பகுதியையும் கடந்து சென்றார்; அவற்றைக் காணவில்லை; சாலிம் நாட்டு வழியே சென்றார், அங்கும் அவை இல்லை; பென்யமின் நாட்டைக் கடந்து சென்றார், அங்கும் அவை தென்படவில்லை.

சாமுவேல் சவுலைக் கண்டதும், ஆண்டவர் அவரிடம், “இதோ நான் உனக்குச் சொன்ன மனிதன்! இவனே என் மக்கள்மீது ஆட்சிபுரிவான்” என்றார்.

சவுல் வாயிலின் நடுவே சாமுவேலை நெருங்கி, “திருக்காட்சியாளரின் வீடு எங்கே? தயைகூர்ந்து சொல்லும்” என்று கேட்டார். சாமுவேல் சவுலுக்குக் கூறியது: “நானே திருக்காட்சியாளன். எனக்கு முன்பாக தொழுகை மேட்டுக்குச் செல். இன்று நீ என்னோடு உண்ண வேண்டும். உன் உள்ளத்தில் இருப்பது அனைத்தையும் நாளைக் காலையில் நான் உனக்கு எடுத்துரைத்து உன்னை அனுப்பிவிடுகிறேன்.”

அப்போது சாமுவேல் தைலக் குப்பியை எடுத்து, அவர் தலைமீது வார்த்து, அவரை முத்தமிட்டுக் கூறியது: “ஆண்டவர் தம் உரிமைச் சொத்துக்குத் தலைவனாக இருக்கும்படி உன்னைத் திருப்பொழிவு செய்துள்ளார் அன்றோ?”

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 2:13-17

At that time: Jesus went out again beside the lake, and all the crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them. And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

A Reading from the First Book of  Samuel 9: 1-4,17-19,10:1 

There was a man of Benjamin whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Becorath, son of Aphiah, a Benjaminite, a man of wealth. And he had a son whose name was Saul, a handsome young man. There was not a man among the people of Israel more handsome than he. From his shoulders upwards he was taller than any of the people. Now the donkeys of Kish, Saul’s father, were lost. So Kish said to Saul his son, “Take one of the young men with you, and arise, go and look for the donkeys.” And he passed through the hill country of Ephraim and passed through the land of Shalishah, but they did not find them. And they passed through the land of Shaalim, but they were not there. Then they passed through the land of Benjamin, but did not find them.

When Samuel saw Saul, the Lord told him, “Here is the man of whom I spoke to you! He it is who shall restrain my people.” Then Saul approached Samuel in the gate and said, “Tell me where is the house of the seer?” Samuel answered Saul, “I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for today you shall eat with me, and in the morning I will let you go and will tell you all that is on your mind.” Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on his head, and kissed him and said, “Has not the Lord anointed you to be prince over his people Israel? And you shall reign over the people of the Lord and you will save them from the hand of their surrounding enemies.”
