அக்காலத்தில்

யோவான் கைது செய்யப்பட்டதை இயேசு கேள்விப்பட்டுக் கலிலேயாவுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். அவர் நாசரேத்தை விட்டு அகன்று செபுலோன், நப்தலி ஆகிய இடங்களின் எல்லையில் கடலோரமாய் அமைந்திருந்த கப்பர்நாகுமுக்குச் சென்று குடியிருந்தார். இறைவாக்கினர் எசாயா உரைத்த பின்வரும் வாக்கு இவ்வாறு நிறைவேறியது:

‘‘செபுலோன் நாடே! நப்தலி நாடே! பெருங்கடல் வழிப் பகுதியே! யோர்தானுக்கு அப்பாலுள்ள நிலப்பரப்பே! பிற இனத்தவர் வாழும் கலிலேயப் பகுதியே! காரிருளில் இருந்த மக்கள் பேரொளியைக் கண்டார்கள். சாவின் நிழல் சூழ்ந்துள்ள நாட்டில் குடியிருப்போர்மேல் சுடரொளி உதித்துள்ளது.”

அதுமுதல் இயேசு, ‘‘மனம் மாறுங்கள், ஏனெனில் விண்ணரசு நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது” எனப் பறைசாற்றத் தொடங்கினார்.

இயேசு கலிலேயக் கடலோரமாய் நடக்கும்போது, சகோதரர் இருவரைக் கண்டார். ஒருவர் பேதுரு எனப்படும் சீமோன், மற்றவர் அவர் சகோதரரான அந்திரேயா. மீனவரான அவ்விருவரும் கடலில் வலை வீசிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, ‘‘என் பின்னே வாருங்கள்; நான் உங்களை மனிதரைப் பிடிப்பவர் ஆக்குவேன்” என்றார். உடனே அவர்கள் வலைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு அவரைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.

அங்கிருந்து அப்பால் சென்றபோது வேறு இரு சகோதரர்களைக் கண்டார். அவர்கள் செபதேயுவின் மகன் யாக்கோபும் அவர் சகோதரரான யோவானும் ஆவர். அவர்கள் தங்கள் தந்தை செபதேயுவுடன் படகில் வலைகளைப் பழுது பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களையும் அழைத்தார். உடனே அவர்கள் தங்கள் படகையும் தந்தையையும் விட்டுவிட்டு அவரைப் பின்பற்றினார்கள்.

அவர் கலிலேயப் பகுதி முழுவதும் சுற்றி வந்தார்; அவர்களுடைய தொழுகைக்கூடங்களில் கற்பித்தார்; விண்ணரசு பற்றிய நற்செய்தியைப் பறைசாற்றினார்; மக்களிடையே இருந்த நோய் நொடிகள் அனைத்தையும் குணமாக்கினார்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

நம் ஆண்டவர் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் பெயரால் நான் உங்களைக் கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டுக்கொள்வது இதுவே: நீங்கள் ஒத்த கருத்துடையவர்களாய் இருங்கள். உங்களிடையே பிளவுகள் வேண்டாம். ஒரே மனமும் ஒரே நோக்கமும் கொண்டிருங்கள்.

என் அன்பர்களே, உங்களிடையே சண்டை சச்சரவுகள் இருப்பதாகக் குலோயி வீட்டார் எனக்குத் தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். நான் இதைச் சொல்லக் காரணம், உங்களுள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ‘நான் பவுலைச் சார்ந்துள்ளேன்’ என்றோ ‘நான் அப்பொல்லோவைச் சார்ந்துள்ளேன்’ என்றோ ‘நான் கேபாவைச் சார்ந்துள்ளேன்’ என்றோ, ‘நான் கிறிஸ்துவைச் சார்ந்துள்ளேன்’ என்றோ சொல்லிக்கொள்கிறீர்களாம்.

கிறிஸ்து இப்படிப் பிளவுபட்டுள்ளாரா? அல்லது பவுலா உங்களுக்காகச் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டான்? அல்லது பவுலின் பெயரிலா நீங்கள் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டீர்கள்? திருமுழுக்குக் கொடுப்பதற்கு அல்ல, நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கவே கிறிஸ்து என்னை அனுப்பினார். மனித ஞானத்தின் அடிப்படையிலான சொற்களில் இந்நற்செய்தியை அறிவித்தல் ஆகாது. அவ்வாறு அறிவித்தால் கிறிஸ்துவின் சிலுவை பொருளற்றுப் போய்விடும்.

When Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. A Reading from the First Letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 1:10-13,17 

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe’s people that there is quarrelling among you, my brothers. What I mean is that each one of you says, “I follow Paul”, or “I follow Apollos”, or “I follow Cephas”, or “I follow Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptised in the name of Paul? For Christ did not send me to baptise but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

அந்நாள்களில்

சவுல் இறந்தபின், அமலேக்கியரைத் தோற்கடித்துத் திரும்புகையில் தாவீது சிக்லாகில் இரண்டு நாள்கள் தங்கினார். மூன்றாம் நாள், சவுலின் பாசறையினின்று கிழிந்த ஆடைகளோடும், புழுதிபடிந்த தலையோடும் ஒருவன் வந்தான். அவன் தாவீதிடம் வந்ததும், தரையில் வீழ்ந்து வணங்கினான். “நீ எங்கிருந்து வருகிறாய்?” என்று தாவீது அவனை வினவ, “நான் இஸ்ரயேல் பாசறையினின்று தப்பி வந்துவிட்டேன்” என்று அவன் பதில் கூறினான். “என்ன நடந்தது? என்னிடம் சொல்” என்று தாவீது கேட்க, அவன், “வீரர்கள் போரினின்று ஓடிவிட்டனர்; அவர்களுள் பலர் வீழ்ந்து மடிந்துவிட்டனர்; சவுலும் அவருடைய மகன் யோனத்தானும் இறந்துவிட்டனர்” என்று கூறினான்.

தாவீது தம் ஆடைகளைப் பற்றிக் கிழித்தார். அவரோடு இருந்தவர்களும் அவ்வாறே செய்தனர். சவுலுக்காகவும், அவருடைய மகன் யோனத் தானுக்காகவும், ஆண்டவரின் மக்களுக்காகவும் இஸ்ரயேல் வீட்டாருக்காகவும் அவர்கள் அழுது புலம்பி மாலைவரை நோன்பு இருந்தார்கள். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் வாளால் மடிந்துவிட்டார்கள். ‘இஸ்ரயேலே! உனது மாட்சி உன் மலைகளிலே மாண்டு கிடக்கின்றது! மாவீரர் எவ்வாறு மடிந்தனர்! சவுல்! யோனத்தான்! அன்புடையார், அருளுடையார்! வாழ்விலும் சாவிலும் இணைபிரியார்! கழுகினும் அவர்கள் விரைந்து செல்வர்! அரியினும் அவர்கள் வலிமைமிக்கோர்!

இஸ்ரயேல் புதல்வியரே! சவுலுக்காக அழுங்கள்! செந்நிற மென்துகிலால் உங்களை உடுத்தியவர் அவரே! பொன்னின் நகைகளினால் உம் உடைகளை ஒளிரச் செய்தாரே! போர் முனையில் வீரர் எங்ஙனம் வீழ்ந்துபட்டனர்! உன் மலைகளிலே யோனத்தான் மாண்டு கிடக்கின்றான்! சகோதரன் யோனத்தான்! உனக்காக என் உளம் உடைந்து போனது! எனக்கு உவகை அளித்தவன் நீ! என்மீது நீ பொழிந்த பேரன்பை என்னென்பேன்! அது மகளிரின் காதலையும் மிஞ்சியது அன்றோ! மாவீரர் எவ்வாறு மடிந்தனர்! போர்க்கலன்கள் எங்ஙனம் அழிந்தன!
