நற்செய்தி வாசகம் 

காற்றும் கடலும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே! இவர் யாரோ? 

மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 4: 35-41 

அன்றொரு நாள் மாலை நேரம். இயேசு சீடர்களை நோக்கி, ``அக்கரைக்குச் செல்வோம், வாருங்கள்'' என்றார். அவர்கள் மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை அனுப்பிவிட்டு, படகில் இருந்தவாறே அவரைக் கூட்டிச் சென்றார்கள். வேறு படகுகளும் அவருடன் சென்றன. அப்பொழுது ஒரு பெரும் புயல் அடித்தது. அலைகள் படகின் மேல் தொடர்ந்து மோத, அது தண்ணீரால் நிரம்பிக்கொண்டிருந்தது. அவரோ படகின் பிற்பகுதியில் தலையணை வைத்துத் தூங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர்கள், ``போதகரே, சாகப் போகிறோமே! உமக்குக் கவலை இல்லையா?'' என்று சொல்லி அவரை எழுப்பினார்கள். அவர் விழித்தெழுந்து காற்றைக் கடிந்துகொண்டார். கடலை நோக்கி, ``இரையாதே, அமைதியாயிரு'' என்றார், காற்று அடங்கியது; மிகுந்த அமைதி உண்டாயிற்று. பின் அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி, ``ஏன் அஞ்சுகிறீர்கள்? உங்களுக்கு இன்னும் நம்பிக்கை இல்லையா?'' என்று கேட்டார். அவர்கள் பேரச்சம் கொண்டு, ``காற்றும் கடலும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே! இவர் யாரோ?'' என்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

69 தம் தூய இறைவாக்கினர் வாயினால்

70 தொடக்க முதல் அவர் மொழிந்தபடியே அவர் தம் ஊழியராகிய தாவீதின் குடும்பத்தில் வல்லமை உடைய மீட்பர் ஒருவர் நமக்காகத் தோன்றச் செய்தார். -பல்லவி 

71 நம் பகைவரிடமிருந்தும் நம்மை வெறுப்போர் அனைவரின் பிடியிலிருந்தும் நம்மை மீட்பார்.

72 அவர் நம் மூதாதையருக்கு இரக்கம் காட்டி,

73 தமது தூய உடன்படிக்கையையும், நம் தந்தையாகிய ஆபிரகாமுக்கு அவர் இட்ட ஆணையையும் நிறைவேற்ற நினைவு கூர்ந்தார்.-பல்லவி 

74 இவ்வாறு நாம் பகைவரின் பிடியிலிருந்து

75 விடுவிக்கப்பட்டுத் தூய்மையோடும் நேர்மையோடும் வாழ்நாளெல்லாம் அச்சமின்றி அவர் திருமுன் பணி செய்யுமாறு வழிவகுத்தார்.-பல்லவி

அல்லேலூயா, அல்லேலூயா! தம் ஒரே மகன்மீது நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளும் எவரும் அழியாமல் நிலைவாழ்வு பெறும்பொருட்டு அந்த மகனையே அளிக்கும் அளவுக்குக் கடவுள் உலகின்மேல் அன்பு கூர்ந்தார். அல்லேலூயா.

முதல் வாசகம் 

கடவுளைத் தன் சிற்பியும், கட்டுபவருமாகக் கொண்ட நகரை ஆபிரகாம் எதிர்நோக்கியிருந்தார். 

எபிரேயருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 11: 1-2, 8-19 

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, நம்பிக்கை என்பது நாம் எதிர்நோக்கி இருப்பவை கிடைக்கும் என்னும் உறுதி; கண்ணுக்குப் புலப்படாதவை பற்றிய ஐயமற்ற நிலை. இந்த நம்பிக்கையால்தான் நம் மூதாதையர் நற்சான்று பெற்றனர். ஆபிரகாம் தாம் அழைக்கப்பட்டபோது கீழ்ப்படிந்து, உரிமைப்பேறாகப் பெறவிருந்த இடத்திற்குச் சென்றதும் நம்பிக்கையினால்தான். தாம் எங்கே போகவேண்டும் என்று தெரியாதிருந்தும் அவர் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். வாக்களிக்கப்பட்ட நாட்டில் அவர் குடியேறி ஓர் அன்னியரைப்போல வாழ்ந்தது நம்பிக்கையினாலேயே. அதே வாக்குறுதிக்கு உடன் உரிமையாளர்களான ஈசாக்குடனும், யாக்கோபுடனும் அவர் கூடாரங்களில் குடியிருந்தார். ஏனெனில், அவர் அசையாத அடித்தளமுள்ள ஒரு நகரை எதிர்நோக்கியிருந்தார். அதைத் திட்டமிட்டவரும் கட்டியவரும் கடவுளே. ஆபிரகாம் வயது முதியவராயும் சாரா கருவுற இயலாதவராயும் இருந்தபோதிலும், அவர் ஒரு தந்தையாவதற்கான ஆற்றல் பெற்றதும் நம்பிக்கையினால்தான். ஏனெனில் வாக்களித்தவர் நம்பிக்கைக்குரியவர் என அவர் கருதினார். இவ்வாறு, உயிரற்றவர் போலிருந்த இந்த ஒருவரிடமிருந்து வானத்திலுள்ள திரளான விண்மீன்களைப் போலவும் கடற்கரையிலுள்ள எண்ணிறந்த மணலைப் போலவும் கணக்கற்ற மக்கள் பிறந்தனர். இவர்கள் எல்லாம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டவர்களாய் இறந்தார்கள்; வாக்களிக்கப்பட்டவற்றை அவர்கள் பெறவில்லையெனினும், தொலையில் அவற்றைக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்தார்கள்; இவ்வுலகில் தாங்கள் அன்னியர் என்பதையும் தற்காலிகக் குடிகள் என்பதையும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டார்கள். இவ்வாறு ஏற்றுக்கொள்வோர் தம்முடைய தாய்நாட்டைத் தேடிச் செல்வோர் என்பது தெளிவு. தாங்கள் விட்டுவந்த நாட்டை அவர்கள் நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கவில்லை. அப்படி நினைத்திருந்தால் திரும்பிச் செல்ல அவர்களுக்கு வாய்ப்புக் கிடைத்திருக்கும். ஆனால், அவர்கள் சிறப்பான ஒரு நாட்டை, அதாவது, விண்ணக நாட்டையே நாடுகிறார்கள். அதனால்தான் கடவுளும் தம்மை, ஹஹஅவர்களுடைய கடவுள்"" என்று அழைத்துக்கொள்ள வெட்கப்படவில்லை. அவர்களுக்கென அவர் ஒரு நகரை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தியுள்ளார். ஆபிரகாம் சோதிக்கப்பட்டபோது ஈசாக்கைப் பலியிடத் துணிந்தது நம்பிக்கையினால்தான். ஹஹஈசாக்கின் மூலமே, உன் வழிமரபு விளங்கும்"" என்ற வாக்குறுதியை அவர் பெற்றிருந்தபோதிலும், அவர் தம் ஒரே மகனைப் பலியிட முன்வந்தார். ஏனெனில், இறந்தோரைக் கடவுள் உயிரோடு எழுப்ப வல்லவர் என்பதை அவர் உணர்ந்திருந்தார். எனவே, அவர் தம் மகனை மீண்டும் பெற்றுக் கொண்டார். பின்பு நடக்க இருந்ததற்கு இது ஓர் அறிகுறி. 

இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

"Who is this man, then, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"  

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark (4, 35-41) 

That day, when evening came, Jesus said to his disciples: “Let us cross over to the other bank. Leaving the crowd, they took Jesus, as he was, in the boat, and other boats accompanied him.

A violent storm arises. The waves threw themselves on the boat, so that it was already filling up. He was sleeping on the pillow in the back. The disciples wake him up and say to him, “Master, we are lost; don't you mind? Awake, he threatened the wind and said to the sea: "Silence, shut up! The wind died down, and there was a great calm. Jesus said to them, “Why are you so fearful? Do you not yet have faith? "Seized with great fear, they said to each other:" Who is he, this one, that even the wind and the sea obey him? "

FIRST READING 

"He was waiting for the city of which God himself is the builder and the architect" 

the letter to the Hebrews (11, 1-2.8-19) 

Brothers, faith is a way of having what one hopes for, a way of knowing realities that one does not see. And when the Scripture testifies to the elders, it's because of their faith.

Thanks to faith, Abraham obeyed God's call: he set out for a land which he was to receive as an inheritance, and he left without knowing where he was going. Thanks to faith, he came to stay as an immigrant in the Promised Land, as in a foreign land; he lived in the tent, as did Isaac and Jacob, heirs of the same promise, for he awaited the city which would have true foundations, the city of which God himself is the builder and the architect.

Through faith Sarah, too, despite her age, was enabled to be the source of offspring because she believed that God was faithful to his promises. This is why, from a single man, already marked by death, an offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky and the sand by the sea, an innumerable multitude could be born. It is in faith, without having known the fulfillment of the promises, that they all died; but they had seen and greeted her from afar, asserting that on earth they were strangers and travelers. However, to speak in this way is to clearly show that we are looking for a homeland. If they had thought of the one they had left, they would have had the opportunity to come back. In fact, they longed for a better homeland, that of heaven. So God is not ashamed to be called their God,

Through faith, when he was tested, Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice. And he was offering the only begotten son, even though he had received the promises and heard this saying: Through Isaac shall their descendants bear your name. He believed in fact that God is capable even of raising the dead; that is why his son was restored to him: there is a prefiguration there.
