A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.John 15: 26-16:4

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning. I have said all these things to you to keep you from falling away. They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you.”

The Lord opened Lydia's heart to accept what Paul was saying

A Reading from the Acts of Apostles 16: 11-15 

Setting sail from Troas, we made a direct voyage to Samothrace, and the following day to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city some days. And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the riverside, where we supposed there was a place of prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the women who had come together. One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshipper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us.

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “தந்தையிடமிருந்து நான் உங்களுக்கு அனுப்பப்போகிற துணையாளர் வருவார். அவரே தந்தையிடமிருந்து வந்து உண்மையை வெளிப்படுத்தும் தூய ஆவியார். அவர் வரும்போது என்னைப் பற்றிச் சான்று பகர்வார். நீங்களும் சான்று பகர்வீர்கள். ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் தொடக்கமுதல் என்னோடு இருந்து வருகிறீர்கள்.

நீங்கள் நம்பிக்கை இழந்துவிடாதிருக்க இவற்றையெல்லாம் உங்களிடம் சொன்னேன். உங்களைத் தொழுகைக்கூடத்திலிருந்து விலக்கி வைப் பார்கள். உங்களைக் கொல்லுவோர் கடவுளுக்குத் திருப்பணி செய்வதாக எண்ணும் காலமும் வருகிறது. தந்தையையும் என்னையும் அவர்கள் அறியாமல் இருப்பதால்தான் இவ்வாறு செய்வார்கள். இவை நிகழும் நேரம் வரும்போது நான் உங்களுக்கு இவை பற்றி முன்பே சொன்னதை நினைவுபடுத்திக்கொள்ளுங்கள். இதற்காகவே இவற்றை உங்களிடம் கூறினேன்.”

பவுல் பேசியதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுமாறு ஆண்டவர் அவர் உள்ளத்தைத் திறந்தார்.

திருத்தூதர் பணிகள் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 16: 11-15

பவுல், சீலா, திமொத்தேயு, லூக்கா ஆகிய நாங்கள் துரோவாவிலிருந்து கப்பலேறிச் சமொத்திராக்கு தீவுக்கும், மறு நாள் நெயாப்பொலி நகருக்கும் நேராகச் சென்றோம்; அங்கிருந்து மாசிதோனியப் பகுதியின் முக்கிய நகரான பிலிப்பி சென்றோம். அது உரோமையரின் குடியேற்ற நகரம். அந்நகரில் சில நாள்கள் தங்கியிருந்தோம். ஓய்வுநாளன்று நாங்கள் நகர வாயிலுக்கு வெளியே வந்து ஆற்றங்கரைக்குச் சென்றோம். அங்கு இறைவேண்டல் செய்யும் இடம் ஏதேனும் இருக்கும் என்று எண்ணி அமர்ந்து, அங்கே கூடியிருந்த பெண்களோடு பேசினோம்.

அங்குத் தியத்திரா நகரைச் சேர்ந்த பெண் ஒருவர் நாங்கள் பேசியதைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர் பெயர் லீதியா. செந்நிற ஆடைகளை விற்பவரான அவர் கடவுளை வழிபட்டுவந்தார். பவுல் பேசியதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுமாறு ஆண்டவர் அவர் உள்ளத்தைத் திறந்தார். அவரும் அவர் வீட்டாரும் திருமுழுக்குப் பெற்றனர். அதன்பின் அவர் எங்களிடம், “நான் ஆண்டவரிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டவள் என்று நீங்கள் கருதினால் என் வீட்டுக்கு வந்து தங்குங்கள்” என்று கெஞ்சிக் கேட்டு எங்களை இணங்கவைத்தார்.

At that time: Jesus said to his disciples, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you for ever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.”
