A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 21:5-11 

When some were talking about the Temple, remarking how it was adorned with fine stonework and votive offerings, Jesus said, ‘All these things you are staring at now – the time will come when not a single stone will be left on another: everything will be destroyed.’ And they put to him this question: ‘Master,’ they said ‘when will this happen, then, and what sign will there be that this is about to take place?’

  ‘Take care not to be deceived,’ he said ‘because many will come using my name and saying, “I am he” and, “The time is near at hand.” Refuse to join them. And when you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened, for this is something that must happen but the end is not so soon.’ Then he said to them, ‘Nation will fight against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes and plagues and famines here and there; there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.’

The harvest and the vintage of the earth are ripe.

Apocalypse 14:14-19 

In my vision I, John, saw a white cloud and, sitting on it, one like a son of man with a gold crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. Then another angel came out of the sanctuary, and shouted aloud to the one sitting on the cloud, ‘Put your sickle in and reap: harvest time has come and the harvest of the earth is ripe.’ Then the one sitting on the cloud set his sickle to work on the earth, and the earth’s harvest was reaped.

  Another angel, who also carried a sharp sickle, came out of the temple in heaven, and the angel in charge of the fire left the altar and shouted aloud to the one with the sharp sickle, ‘Put your sickle in and cut all the bunches off the vine of the earth; all its grapes are ripe.’ So the angel set his sickle to work on the earth and harvested the whole vintage of the earth and put it into a huge winepress, the winepress of God’s anger.

அக்காலத்தில்

கோவிலைப் பற்றிச் சிலர் பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்தனர். கவின்மிகு கற்களாலும், நேர்ச்சைப் பொருள்களாலும் கோவில் அழகுபடுத்தப் பட்டிருக்கிறது என்று சிலர் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். இயேசு, “இவற்றை யெல்லாம் பார்க்கிறீர்கள் அல்லவா? ஒரு காலம் வரும்; அப்போது கற்கள் ஒன்றின்மேல் ஒன்று இராதபடி இவையெல்லாம் இடிக்கப்படும்” என்றார்.

அவர்கள் இயேசுவிடம், “போதகரே, நீர் கூறியவை எப்போது நிகழும்? இவை நிகழப்போகும் காலத்திற்கான அறிகுறி என்ன?” என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

அதற்கு அவர், “நீங்கள் ஏமாறாதவாறு பார்த்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்; ஏனெனில் பலர் என் பெயரை வைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்து, ‘நானே அவர்’ என்றும், ‘காலம் நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது’ என்றும் கூறுவார்கள்; அவர்கள் பின்னே போகாதீர்கள். ஆனால் போர் முழக்கங்களையும் குழப்பங்களையும் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்படும்போது திகிலுறாதீர்கள்; ஏனெனில் இவை முதலில் நிகழத்தான் வேண்டும். ஆனால் உடனே முடிவு வராது” என்றார்.

மேலும் அவர் அவர்களிடம் தொடர்ந்து கூறியது: “நாட்டை எதிர்த்து நாடும் அரசை எதிர்த்து அரசும் எழும். பெரிய நிலநடுக்கங்களும் பல இடங்களில் பஞ்சமும் கொள்ளைநோயும் ஏற்படும்; அச்சுறுத்தக்கூடிய பெரிய அடையாளங்களும் வானில் தோன்றும்.”

உமது அரிவாளை எடுத்து அறுவடை செய்யும்; ஏனெனில் அறுவடைக் காலம் வந்துவிட்டது.

திருத்தூதர் யோவான் எழுதிய திருவெளிப்பாட்டிலிருந்து வாசகம் 14: 14-20

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

யோவான் என்னும் நான் ஒரு வெண் மேகத்தைக் கண்டேன். அதன்மீது மானிட மகனைப் போன்ற ஒருவர் வீற்றிருந்தார். அவரது தலையில் பொன் முடியும் கையில் கூர்மையான அரிவாளும் காணப்பட்டன.

மற்றொரு வானதூதர் கோவிலிலிருந்து வெளியே வந்து, மேகத்தின்மீது வீற்றிருந்தவரை நோக்கி, “உமது அரிவாளை எடுத்து அறுவடை செய்யும்; ஏனெனில் அறுவடைக் காலம் வந்துவிட்டது; மண்ணுலகம் என்னும் பயிர் முற்றிவிட்டது” என்று உரத்த குரலில் கத்தினார். உடனே மேகத்தின்மீது வீற்றிருந்தவர் மண்ணுலகெங்கும் தமது அரிவாளை வீசி அறுவடை செய்தார்.

மற்றொரு வானதூதரும் விண்ணகத்தில் உள்ள கோவிலிலிருந்து வெளியே வந்தார். அவரிடமும் கூர்மையான அரிவாள் ஒன்று இருந்தது. நெருப்பின் மேல் அதிகாரம் கொண்டிருந்த இன்னுமொரு வானதூதர் பலிபீடத்திலிருந்து வெளியே வந்தார். அவர் கூர்மையான அரிவாளை வைத்திருந்தவரிடம், “உமது கூர்மையான அரிவாளை எடுத்து மண்ணுலகின் திராட்சைக் குலைகளை அறுத்துச் சேர்த்திடும்; ஏனெனில் திராட்சை கனிந்துவிட்டது” என்று உரத்த குரலில் கூறினார். ஆகவே அந்த வானதூதர் மண்ணுலகின் மீது தம் அரிவாளை வீசி மண்ணுலகின் திராட்சைக் குலைகளை அறுத்துச் சேர்த்தார்; கடவுளின் சீற்றம் என்னும் பெரிய பிழிவுக் குழியில் அவற்றைப் போட்டார். நகருக்கு வெளியே இருந்த அந்தப் பிழிவுக் குழியில் அவை மிதிக்கப்பட்டன. அந்தப் பிழிவுக் குழியிலிருந்து இரத்த வெள்ளம் ஏறத்தாழ இரண்டு மீட்டர் ஆழம், முந்நூறு கிலோ மீட்டர் தொலைக்குப் பாய்ந்தோடியது.

1 [Psalm Of David] To Yahweh belong the earth and all it contains, the world and all who live there; 

2 it is he who laid its foundations on the seas, on the flowing waters fixed it firm. 

3 Who shall go up to the mountain of Yahweh? Who shall take a stand in his holy place? 

4 The clean of hands and pure of heart, whose heart is not set on vanities, who does not swear an oath in order to deceive. 

5 Such a one will receive blessing from Yahweh, saving justice from the God of his salvation.

*A reading from the Book of Revelation 14:1-3, 4-5*

Next in my vision I saw Mount Zion, and standing on it the Lamb who had with him a hundred and forty-four thousand people, all with his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. I heard a sound coming out of heaven like the sound of the ocean or the roar of thunder; it was like the sound of harpists playing their harps. There before the throne they were singing a new hymn in the presence of the four living creatures and the elders, a hymn that could be learnt only by the hundred and forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the world. These are the sons who have kept their virginity and not been defiled with women; they follow the Lamb wherever he goes; they, out of all people, have been redeemed to be the first-fruits for God and for the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths and no fault can be found in them.

அக்காலத்தில் இயேசு நிமிர்ந்து பார்த்தபோது செல்வர்கள் தங்கள் காணிக்கைகளைக் காணிக்கைப் பெட்டிக்குள் போடுவதைக் கண்டார். வறுமையில் வாடிய ஒரு கைம்பெண்ணும் இரண்டு காசுகளை அதில் போடுவதைக் கண்டார். அவர், ``இந்த ஏழைக் கைம்பெண் எல்லாரையும் விட மிகுதியான காணிக்கை போட்டிருக்கிறார் என உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் அனைவரும் தங்களுக்கு இருந்த மிகுதியான செல்வத்திலிருந்து காணிக்கை போட்டனர். இவரோ தமக்குப் பற்றாக்குறை இருந்தும் தம் பிழைப்புக்காக வைத்திருந்த எல்லாவற்றையுமே போட்டுவிட்டார்'' என்றார்.

_விண்ணகத்திலிருந்து ஒரு குரலைக் கேட்டேன்._

*திருத்தூதர் யோவான் எழுதிய திருவெளிப்பாட்டிலிருந்து வாசகம் 14: 1-5*

யோவான் என்னும் நான் சீயோன் மலைமீது ஆட்டுக்குட்டி நிற்கக் கண்டேன். அதன் பெயரையும் அதனுடைய தந்தையின் பெயரையும் தங்களது நெற்றியில் பொறித்திருந்த ஓர் இலட்சத்து நாற்பத்து நான்காயிரம் பேர் அதனுடன் இருந்தனர். பின்பு விண்ணகத்திலிருந்து ஒரு குரலைக் கேட்டேன். அது பெரும் வெள்ளத்தின் இரைச்சல் போலும் பேரிடி முழக்கம் போலும் யாழை மீட்டுவோர் எழுப்பும் இசை போலும் ஒலித்தது. அந்த ஓர் இலட்சத்து நாற்பத்து நான்காயிரம் பேரும் அரியணை முன்னிலையில் நான்கு உயிர்களுக்கும் மூப்பர்களுக்கும் முன்பாகப் புதியதொரு பாடலைப் பாடிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். மண்ணுலகிலிருந்து விலை கொடுத்து மீட்கப்பட்ட அவர்களைத் தவிர வேறு யாராலும் அந்தப் பாடலைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ள இயலவில்லை. அவர்கள் பெண்களோடு சேர்ந்து தங்களைக் கறைப்படுத்திக் கொள்ளாமல் கற்பைக் காத்துக் கொண்டவர்கள். ஆட்டுக்குட்டி சென்ற இடம் எங்கும் அதைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தவர்கள்; கடவுளுக்கும் ஆட்டுக் குட்டிக்கும் உரிய முதற்கனியாக மனித குலத்திலிருந்து விலை கொடுத்து மீட்கப்பட்டவர்கள். அவர்களது வாயினின்று பொய்யே வந்ததில்லை; ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் மாசற்றவர்கள்.
