அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: நீங்கள் சென்று ‘விண்ணரசு நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது’ எனப் பறைசாற்றுங்கள். நலம் குன்றியவர்களைக் குணமாக்குங்கள்; இறந்தோரை உயிர் பெற்றெழச் செய்யுங்கள்; தொழுநோயாளரை நலமாக்குங்கள்; பேய்களை ஓட்டுங்கள்; கொடையாகப் பெற்றீர்கள்; கொடையாகவே வழங்குங்கள். பொன், வெள்ளி, செப்புக்காசு எதையும் உங்கள் இடைக் கச்சைகளில் வைத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டாம். பயணத்திற்காகப் பையோ, இரண்டு அங்கிகளோ, மிதியடிகளோ, கைத்தடியோ எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போக வேண்டாம். ஏனெனில் வேலையாள் தம் உணவுக்கு உரிமை உடையவரே.

நீங்கள் எந்த நகருக்கோ ஊருக்கோ சென்றாலும் அங்கே உங்களை ஏற்கத் தகுதியுடையவர் யாரெனக் கேட்டறியுங்கள். அங்கிருந்து புறப்படும்வரை அவரோடு தங்கியிருங்கள். அந்த வீட்டுக்குள் செல்லும்பொழுதே, வீட்டாருக்கு வாழ்த்துக் கூறுங்கள். வீட்டார் தகுதி உள்ளவராய் இருந்தால், நீங்கள் வாழ்த்திக் கூறிய அமைதி அவர்கள் மேல் தங்கட்டும்; அவர்கள் தகுதியற்றவர்களாய் இருந்தால் அது உங்களிடமே திரும்பி வரட்டும்.

உங்களை எவராவது ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளாமலோ, நீங்கள் அறிவித்தவற்றுக்குச் செவிசாய்க்காமலோ இருந்தால் அவரது வீட்டை, அல்லது நகரை விட்டு வெளியேறும் பொழுது உங்கள் கால்களில் படிந்துள்ள தூசியை உதறிவிடுங்கள். தீர்ப்பு நாளில் சோதோம் கொமோராப் பகுதிகளுக்குக் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனையை விட அந்நகருக்குக் கிடைக்கும் தண்டனை கடினமாகவே இருக்கும் என நான் உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

அவர்களுக்கு முன் ஒருவரை அனுப்பி வைத்தார்; யோசேப்பு என்பவர் அடிமையாக விற்கப்பட்டார். - பல்லவி

அவர்தம் கால்களுக்கு விலங்கிட்டு அவரைத் துன்புறுத்தினர். அவர்தம் கழுத்தில் இரும்புப் பட்டையை மாட்டினர்.

அந்நாள்களில்

யூதா, யோசேப்பு அருகில் வந்து, “என் தலைவரே! அடியேன் ஒரு வார்த்தை கூற அனுமதி தாரும். என் தலைவரே! செவிசாய்த்தருளும். உம் அடியான் மீது சினம் கொள்ள வேண்டாம். நீர் பார்வோனுக்கு இணையானவர். என் தலைவராகிய தாங்கள் உம் பணியாளர்களாகிய எங்களிடம், ‘உங்களுக்குத் தந்தையோ சகோதரனோ உண்டா?’ என்று கேட்டீர்கள். அதற்கு நாங்கள், ‘எங்களுக்கு வயது முதிர்ந்த தந்தையும், முதிர்ந்த வயதில் அவருக்குப் பிறந்த ஓர் இளைய சகோதரனும் உள்ளனர். அவனுடைய சகோதரன் இறந்துவிட்டான். அவன் தாயின் பிள்ளைகளில் அவன் ஒருவனே இருப்பதால், தந்தை அவன் மேல் அதிக அன்புகொண்டிருக்கிறார்” என்று தலைவராகிய தங்களுக்குச் சொன்னோம். அப்பொழுது தாங்கள், ‘அவனை என்னிடம் அழைத்து வாருங்கள். நான் அவனை நேரில் பார்க்க வேண்டும்’ என்று உம் அடியார்களுக்குச் சொன்னீர்கள். அதற்குத் தாங்கள் ‘உங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் உங்களோடு வராவிட்டால் என் முகத்தில் விழிக்க வேண்டாம்’ என்று உம் அடியார்களுக்குச் சொன்னீர்கள்.

உம் பணியாளராகிய எங்கள் தந்தையிடம் திரும்பியவுடன் என் தலைவராகிய தாங்கள் சொல்லியவற்றை அவரிடம் எடுத்துரைத்தோம். பிறகு எங்கள் தந்தை, ‘நீங்கள் திரும்பிப்போய் நமக்குக் கொஞ்சம் உணவுப் பொருள் வாங்கி வாருங்கள்’ என்றார். நாங்கள் ‘எங்களால், போக இயலாது, எங்கள் இளைய சகோதரன் எங்களோடு சேர்ந்து வந்தால் மட்டுமே புறப்படுவோம். வராவிட்டால், இவன் இல்லாமல் நாங்கள் அவர் முகத்தில் விழிக்க மாட்டோம்’ என்றோம். உம் பணியாளராகிய எங்கள் தந்தை எங்களிடம் ‘என் மனைவி, எனக்கு இரு பிள்ளைகளையே பெற்றெடுத்தாள் என்று உங்களுக்குத் தெரியும். ஒருவன் என்னைப் பிரிந்து வெளியே சென்றான். அவன் ஒரு கொடிய விலங்கால் பீறிக் கிழிக்கப்பட்டான் என்று நினைத்துக்கொண்டேன். ஏனெனில், இதுவரை அவனைக் காணவில்லை. இப்பொழுது நீங்கள் இவனையும் என்னிடமிருந்து பிரிக்கிறீர்கள். இவனுக்கு ஏதாவது ஆபத்து நேரிட்டால், நரைத்த முடியுள்ள என்னைத் துயருக்குள்ளாக்கிப் பாதாளத்திற்குள் இறங்கச் செய்வீர்கள்’ என்றார்.

அப்பொழுது யோசேப்பு தம் பணியாளர் அனைவர் முன்னிலையிலும் இதற்குமேல் தம்மை அடக்கிக் கொள்ள முடியாமல், ‘எல்லாரும் என்னைவிட்டு வெளியே போங்கள்’ என்று உரத்த குரலில் சொன்னார். யோசேப்பு தம் சகோதரருக்குத் தம்மைத் தெரியப்படுத்தும்பொழுது வேற்று மனிதர் எவரும் அவரோடு இல்லை. உடனே அவர் கூக்குரலிட்டு அழுதார். எகிப்தியர் அதைக் கேட்டனர். பார்வோன் வீட்டாரும் அதைப் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டனர்.

பின்பு, அவர் தம் சகோதரர்களை நோக்கி, “நான்தான் யோசேப்பு! என் தந்தை இன்னும் உயிரோடு இருக்கிறாரா?” என்று கேட்டார். ஆனால் அவரைப் பார்த்து அவர் சகோதரர்கள் திகில் அடைந்ததால், அவர்களால் பதில் சொல்ல முடியவில்லை. ஆனால் யோசேப்பு தம் சகோதரர்களை நோக்கி, “என் அருகில் வாருங்கள்” என்றார். அவர்கள் அருகில் வந்தவுடன் அவர், “நீங்கள் எகிப்திற்குச் செல்லுமாறு விற்ற உங்கள் சகோதரனாகிய யோசேப்பு நான்தான்! நான் இங்குச் செல்லுமாறு நீங்கள் என்னை விற்றுவிட்டது குறித்து மனம் கலங்க வேண்டாம். உங்கள்மீதே சினம் கொள்ளவேண்டாம். ஏனெனில், உயிர்களைக் காக்கும் பொருட்டே கடவுள் உங்களுக்கு முன்னே என்னை எகிப்திற்கு அனுப்பியருளினார்” என்றார்.

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (10, 7-15) 

At that time, Jesus said to his Apostles: “On your journey proclaim that the kingdom of Heaven is very near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. You received for free, give for free. Do not buy gold, silver, copper coins to put in your belts, travel bag, spare tunic, sandals, or staff. The worker, in fact, deserves his food. In each town or village you enter, find out who is worthy of welcoming you, and stay there until you leave. As you enter the house, greet those who inhabit it. If this house is worthy of it, may your peace come upon it. If it is not worthy of it, may your peace return to you. If we do not welcome you and if we do not listen to your words, come out of this house or town, and shake the dust off your feet. Amen, I tell you: on the Day of Judgment, the land of Sodom and Gomorrah will be treated less severely than this city. "

A Reading from the book of Genesis (44, 18-21. 23b-29; 45, 1-5) 

In those days Judah and his brethren, the sons of Jacob, had been brought before Joseph. Judah approached him and said, "Please, my lord, allow your servant to speak to you without my lord's anger being kindled against your servant, for you are as great as Pharaoh!" My lord had asked his servants: “Do you still have your father or another brother?” And we answered my Lord: “We still have our old father and a little brother, the child he had in his old age; this one had a brother who died, so he remains the only child of his mother, and our father loves him! ” So you said to your servants: “Bring him to me: I want to take care of him. If your younger brother does not come back with you, you will no longer be admitted to my presence. ” Therefore, when we returned to our father your servant, we told him my lord's words. And, when our father said: “Go back to buy us some food”, we replied: “We will not be able to leave if our youngest brother is not with us, because we will not be able to be admitted in presence of this man if our younger brother is not with us. ” So our father, your servant, said to us: “You know very well that my wife Rachel only gave me two sons.
