முதலில் உங்கள் கண்ணிலிருந்து மரக் கட்டையை எடுத்தெறியுங்கள்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “பிறர் குற்றவாளிகள் எனத் தீர்ப்பு அளிக்காதீர்கள்; அப்போதுதான் நீங்களும் தீர்ப்புக்கு உள்ளாக மாட்டீர்கள். நீங்கள் அளிக்கும் தீர்ப்பையே நீங்களும் பெறுவீர்கள். நீங்கள் எந்த அளவையால் அளக்கிறீர்களோ, அதே அளவையாலே உங்களுக்கும் அளக்கப்படும்.

உங்கள் கண்ணில் இருக்கும் மரக் கட்டையைப் பார்க்காமல் உங்கள் சகோதரர் அல்லது சகோதரியின் கண்ணில் இருக்கும் துரும்பை நீங்கள் கூர்ந்து கவனிப்பதேன்? அல்லது அவரிடம், ‘உங்கள் கண்ணிலிருந்து துரும்பை எடுக்கட்டுமா?’ என்று எப்படிக் கேட்கலாம்? இதோ! உங்கள் கண்ணில்தான் மரக் கட்டை இருக்கிறதே! வெளிவேடக்காரரே, முதலில் உங்கள் கண்ணிலிருந்து மரக் கட்டையை எடுத்தெறியுங்கள். அதன்பின் உங்கள் சகோதரர் அல்லது சகோதரியின் கண்ணிலிருந்து துரும்பை எடுக்க உங்களுக்குத் தெளிவாய்க் கண் தெரியும்.”

ஆண்டவரைத் தன் கடவுளாகக் கொண்ட இனம் பேறுபெற்றது; அவர் தமது உரிமைச் சொத்தாகத் தெரிந்தெடுத்த மக்கள் பேறு பெற்றோர்.

தமக்கு அஞ்சி நடப்போரையும் தம் பேரன்புக்காகக் காத்திருப் போரையும் ஆண்டவர் கண்ணோக்குகின்றார்.

ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமுக்குக் கூறியபடியே அவர் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார்.

தொடக்க நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 1-9

அந்நாள்களில்

ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமை நோக்கி, “உன் நாட்டிலிருந்தும் உன் இனத்தவரிடமிருந்தும் உன் தந்தை வீட்டிலிருந்தும் புறப்பட்டு நான் உனக்குக் காண்பிக்கும் நாட்டிற்குச் செல். உன்னை நான் பெரிய இனமாக்குவேன்; உனக்கு ஆசி வழங்குவேன். உன் பெயரை நான் சிறப்புறச் செய்வேன்; நீயே ஆசியாக விளங்குவாய். உனக்கு ஆசி கூறுவோர்க்கு நான் ஆசி வழங்குவேன்; உன்னைச் சபிப்போரை நானும் சபிப்பேன்; உன் வழியாக மண்ணுலகின் மக்களினங்கள் அனைத்தும் ஆசி பெறும்” என்றார்.

ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமுக்குக் கூறியபடியே அவர் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். அவருடன் லோத்தும் சென்றார். ஆபிராம் ஆரானை விட்டுச் சென்ற பொழுது அவருக்கு வயது எழுபத்தைந்து. ஆபிராம் தம் மனைவி சாராயையும் தம் சகோதரன் லோத்தையும் உடனழைத்துச் சென்றார். அவர்கள் ஆரானில் சேர்த்திருந்த செல்வத்துடனும், வைத்திருந்த ஆள்களுடனும் கானான் நாட்டிற்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று அந்நாட்டைச் சென்றடைந்தனர்.

ஆபிராம் அந்நாட்டில் நுழைந்து செக்கேமில் இருந்த மோரேயின் கருவாலி மரத்தை அடைந்தார். அப்பொழுது கானானியர் அந்நாட்டில் வாழ்ந்து வந்தனர்.

ஆண்டவர் ஆபிராமுக்குத் தோன்றி, “உன் வழிமரபினர்க்கு இந்நாட்டைக் கொடுப்பேன்” என்றார். ஆகவே தமக்குத் தோன்றிய ஆண்டவருக்கு அங்கே அவர் ஒரு பலி பீடத்தை எழுப்பினார்.

ஆபிராம் அங்கிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, பெத்தேலுக்குக் கிழக்கே இருந்த மலைப்பக்கம் சென்று பெத்தேலுக்கு மேற்கே ஆயிக்குக் கிழக்கே கூடாரம் அமைத்துக் குடியிருந்தார். அங்கே ஆண்டவருக்கு அவர் ஒரு பலிபீடத்தை எழுப்பி ஆண்டவரது திருப்பெயரைத் தொழுதார். இவ்வாறு ஆபிராம் படிப்படியாக நெகேபு நோக்கிப் பயணம் செய்தார்.

"First remove the beam from your eye" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (7, 1-5) 

At that time Jesus said to his disciples: “Judge not, so as not to be judged; the way you judge you will be judged; of the measure you measure, you will be measured. What! you look at the straw in your brother's eye; and the beam that's in your eye, don't you notice it? Or again: How are you going to say to your brother: “Let me take the straw out of your eye”, when there is a beam in your eye? Hypocrite! First remove the beam from your eye; then you will see clearly to remove the straw that is in your brother's eye. "

We look to the Lord for our life:

he is a support, a shield for us.

"Abram went away, as the Lord had told him" 

A Reading from the book of Genesis (12, 1-9) 

In those days the Lord said to Abram, then living in Chaldea, "Leave your land, your kinship, and your father's house, and go to the land that I will show you." I will make you a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will become a blessing. I will bless those who bless you; whoever curses you, I will reprove him. In you will be blessed all the families of the earth. Abram went away, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was 75 when he left Harane. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the goods they had acquired, and the people with whom they had surrounded themselves in Haran; they set out for Canaan and they came to this land. Abram crossed the country to a place called Shechem, at the Oak of Moreh. The Canaanites were in the land then. The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land. And there Abram built an altar to the Lord who had appeared to him. From there he went into the mountain east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Ai on the east. There he built an altar to the Lord and called on the name of the Lord. Then, from camp to camp, Abram went to the Negev.
