நற்செய்தி வாசகம் 

என் அமைதியையே உங்களுக்கு அளிக்கிறேன். 

✠ யோவான் எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 14: 27-31b 

அக்காலத்தில் 

இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: அமைதியை உங்களுக்கு விட்டுச் செல்கிறேன்; என் அமைதியையே உங்களுக்கு அளிக்கிறேன். நான் உங்களுக்குத் தரும் அமைதி உலகம் தரும் அமைதி போன்றது அல்ல. நீங்கள் உள்ளம் கலங்க வேண்டாம்; மருள வேண்டாம். ‘நான் போகிறேன், பின் உங்களிடம் திரும்பி வருவேன்’ என்று நான் உங்களிடம் சொன்னதைக் கேட்டீர்களே! நீங்கள் என்மீது அன்பு கொண்டிருந்தால் நான் தந்தையிடம் செல்வதுபற்றி மகிழ்ச்சி அடைவீர்கள். ஏனெனில் தந்தை என்னைவிடப் பெரியவர். 

இவை நிகழும்போது நீங்கள் நம்புமாறு இப்போதே, இவை நிகழுமுன்பே, சொல்லிவிட்டேன். இனி நான் உங்களோடு மிகுதியாகப் பேசப் போவதில்லை; ஏனெனில் இவ்வுலகின் தலைவன் வந்துகொண்டிருக்கிறான். அவனுக்கு என்மேல் அதிகாரம் இல்லை. ஆனால் நான் தந்தைமீது அன்புகொண்டுள்ளேன் என்பதையும் அவர் எனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி செயல்படுகிறேன் என்பதையும் உலகு தெரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும்.

முதல் வாசகம் 

திருச்சபையைக் கூட்டி, கடவுள் தங்கள் வழியாகச் செய்த அனைத்தையும் அறிவித்தார்கள். 

திருத்தூதர் பணிகள் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 14: 19-28 

அந்நாள்களில் 

அந்தியோக்கியாவிலிருந்தும் இக்கோனியாவிலிருந்தும் யூதர்கள் வந்து மக்களைத் தூண்டிவிட்டு, பவுல்மேல் கல் எறிந்தார்கள்; அவர் இறந்துவிட்டார் என்று எண்ணி நகருக்கு வெளியே அவரை இழுத்துப் போட்டார்கள். சீடர்கள் அவரைச் சூழ்ந்து நின்றபோது அவர் எழுந்து நகரினுள் சென்றார். மறுநாள் அவர் பர்னபாவுடன் தெருபைக்குப் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றார். 

அந்த நகரில் அவர்கள் நற்செய்தி அறிவித்துப் பலரைச் சீடராக்கியபின் லிஸ்திரா, இக்கோனியா, அந்தியோக்கியா ஆகிய நகரங்களுக்குத் திரும்பி வந்தார்கள். அங்குள்ள சீடர்களின் உள்ளத்தை அவர்கள் உறுதிப்படுத்தி, “நாம் பல வேதனைகள் வழியாகவே இறையாட்சிக்கு உட்படவேண்டும்” என்று கூறி நம்பிக்கையில் நிலைத்திருக்கும்படி அவர்களை ஊக்குவித்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ஒவ்வொரு திருச்சபையிலும் மூப்பர்களைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்து, நோன்பிருந்து இறைவனிடம் வேண்டித் தாங்கள் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருந்த ஆண்டவரிடம் அவர்களை ஒப்படைத்தார்கள்; பின்பு பிசிதியா வழியாகப் பம்பிலியா வந்தார்கள். பெருகை நகரில் இறைவார்த்தையை அறிவித்தபின் அத்தாலியா வந்தார்கள்; அங்கிருந்து கப்பலேறி அந்தியோக்கியா வந்தார்கள்; அங்குதான் அவர்கள் அருள் வழங்கும் கடவுளின் பணிக்கென்று அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டார்கள். இப்போது அப்பணியைச் செய்து முடித்துவிட்டார்கள். அவர்கள் அங்கு வந்ததும் திருச்சபையைக் கூட்டி, கடவுள் தங்கள் வழியாகச் செய்த அனைத்தையும், அவர் பிற இனத்தவர்க்கு நம்பிக்கை கொள்ளும் வாய்ப்பைக் கொடுத்ததையும் அறிவித்தார்கள். அங்கே அவர்கள் சீடர்களுடன் பல நாள்கள் தங்கினார்கள்.

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “I leave you in peace, I give you my peace; I am not giving it to you in the fashion of the world. May your heart not be upset or afraid. You have heard what I said to you: I am going away, and I am coming back to you. If you loved me, you would be in joy since I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than me. I've told you these things now, before they happened; so when they come, you'll believe. From now on, I will not speak much with you any more, for he is coming, the prince of the world. Of course, he has no hold on me, but the world must know that I love the Father, and that I do as the Father has commanded me. "

FIRST READING 

"Having gathered the Church together, they brought back all that God had done with them" 

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (14, 19-28) 

In those days, as Paul and Barnabas were in Lystra, Jews came from Antioch, Pisidia and Iconium; they rallied the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, thinking he was dead. But, when the disciples made a circle around him, he got up and entered the city. The next day, with Barnabé, he left for Derbé. They proclaimed the Good News to this city and made a good number of disciples.

Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch of Pisidia; they strengthened the courage of the disciples; they exhorted them to persevere in the faith, saying, “We have to go through many trials to enter the kingdom of God. They appointed Elders for each of their Churches and, after praying and fasting, they entrusted to the Lord those men who had put their faith in him. They crossed Pisidia and went to Pamphylia. After having proclaimed the Word to the people of Perge, they went down to the port of Attalia, and embarked for Antioch in Syria, whence they had left; it was there that they were given to the grace of God for the work they had done. When they arrived, having gathered the Church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the nations. They then spent some time with the disciples.
