என் பொருட்டுத் தம் உயிரை இழக்கும் எவரும் அதைக் காத்துக்கொள்வார். 

✠ லூக்கா எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 9: 22-25 

அக்காலத்தில் இயேசு தம் சீடரை நோக்கி, ``மானிடமகன் பலவாறு துன்பப்படவும் மூப்பர்கள், தலைமைக் குருக்கள், மறைநூல் அறிஞர் ஆகியோரால் உதறித் தள்ளப்பட்டுக் கொலை செய்யப்படவும் மூன்றாம் நாளில் உயிருடன் எழுப்பப்படவும் வேண்டும்'' என்று சொன்னார். பின்பு அவர் அனைவரையும் நோக்கிக் கூறியது: ``என்னைப் பின்பற்ற விரும்பும் எவரும் தன்னலம் துறந்து தம் சிலுவையை நாள்தோறும் தூக்கிக் கொண்டு என்னைப் பின்பற்றட்டும். ஏனெனில், தம் உயிரைக் காத்துக்கொள்ள விரும்பும் எவரும் அதை இழந்துவிடுவார். என்பொருட்டுத் தம் உயிரை இழக்கும் எவரும் அதைக் காத்துக்கொள்வார். ஒருவர் உலகம் முழுவதையும் தமதாக்கிக்கொண்டாலும் வாழ்வையே இழப்பாரெனில் அவருக்குக் கிடைக்கும் பயன் என்ன?" 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.

நற்பேறு பெற்றவர் யார்? - அவர் பொல்லாரின் சொல்லின்படி நடவாதவர்; பாவிகளின் தீயவழி நில்லாதவர்; இகழ்வாரின் குழுவினில் அமராதவர்;

ஆனால், அவர் ஆண்டவரின் திருச்சட்டத்தில் மகிழ்ச்சியுறுபவர்; அவரது சட்டத்தைப்பற்றி இரவும் பகலும் சிந்திப்பவர். - பல்லவி

மோசே மக்களைப் பார்த்துக் கூறியது: இதோ பார், வாழ்வையும் நன்மையையும், சாவையும் தீமையையும் இன்று நான் உனக்கு முன்பாக வைத்துள்ளேன். அது இதுதான்; இன்று நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன். உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர்மீது அன்பு பாராட்டு. அவரைப் பின்பற்றி அவரது வழியில் நட. அவரது கட்டளைகளையும், நியமங்களையும், முறைமைகளையும் கடைப்பிடி. அப்போது நீ வாழ்வாய், நீ பலுகுவாய். நீ உடைமையாகக் கொள்ளப்போகும் நாட்டில் உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் உனக்கு ஆசி வழங்குவார்.

ஆனால் உனது உள்ளம் விலகிச் சென்று, நீ செவிகொடாமல் கெட்டலைந்து, வேறு தெய்வங்களை வணங்கி, அவற்றுக்குப் பணிவிடை புரிந்தால், இன்று நான் உனக்கு அறிக்கையிட்டுக் கூறுகிறேன். நீ நிச்சயம் அழிந்து போவாய். நீ உரிமையாக்கிக்கொள்ளுமாறு, யோர்தானைக் கடந்து சென்றடையும் பூமியில் உன் வாழ்நாள் நீடித்திருக்காது.

உன்மேல் இன்று நான் விண்ணையும் மண்ணையும் சான்றாக அழைத்து, வாழ்வையும் சாவையும், ஆசியையும் சாபத்தையும் உனக்கு முன் வைக்கிறேன். நீயும் உனது வழித்தோன்றல்களும் வாழும்பொருட்டு வாழ்வைத் தேர்ந்துகொள். உன் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர்மீது அன்பு பாராட்டு; அவரது குரலுக்குச் செவிகொடு; அவரையே பற்றிக்கொள். ஏனெனில், அவரே உனது வாழ்வு; அவரே உன் நீடிய வாழ்வு. அதனால், ஆபிரகாம், ஈசாக்கு, யாக்கோபு என்னும் உன் மூதாதையருக்குக் கொடுப்பதாக ஆண்டவர் ஆணையிட்டுக் கூறிய நாட்டில் நீ குடியேறுவாய்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke (9, 22-25) 

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: "The Son of man must suffer greatly, be rejected by the elders, the high priests and the scribes, be killed, and, on the third day, he comes back to life. "

He said to them all:" Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. What advantage will a man have in winning the whole world, if he is lost or ruined himself? "

Psalm 1 

Happy is the man who does not enter into the council of the wicked,

who does not follow the path of sinners,

does not sit with those who sneer,

but delights in the law of the Lord

and murmurs his law day and night! R 

He is like a tree planted by a stream,

which bears fruit in due time,

and its leaves never die;

whatever he does will be successful.

This is not the fate of the wicked. R 

But they're like windswept straw.

The Lord knows the way of the righteous,

but the way of the wicked will be lost. R

from the book of Deuteronomy (30, 15-20) 

Moses said to the people: “Look! Today I place before you either life and happiness, or death and misfortune. What I command you today is to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his commandments, his decrees and his ordinances. Then you will live and multiply; the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are going to take possession of. But if you turn your heart away, if you do not obey, if you allow yourself to be drawn into prostrating yourself before other gods and serving them, I tell you today: you will certainly perish, you will not live long. days on the land which you will take possession of when you have crossed the Jordan. Today I call heaven and earth to witness against you: I lay before you life or death, blessing or curse. Choose life, then, so that you and your descendants may live loving the Lord your God, listening to his voice, and being attached to him; this is where your life is, a long life on the earth that the Lord swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. "
