காற்றும் கடலும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே! இவர் யாரோ?

✠ மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 4: 35-41.

ஒரு நாள் மாலை நேரம். இயேசு சீடர்களை நோக்கி, “அக்கரைக்குச் செல்வோம், வாருங்கள்” என்றார். அவர்கள் மக்கள் கூட்டத்தை அனுப்பிவிட்டு, படகில் இருந்தவாறே அவரைக் கூட்டிச் சென்றார்கள். வேறு படகுகளும் அவருடன் சென்றன.

அப்பொழுது ஒரு பெரும் புயல் அடித்தது. அலைகள் படகின் மேல் தொடர்ந்து மோத, அது தண்ணீரால் நிரம்பிக்கொண்டிருந்தது. அவரோ படகின் பிற்பகுதியில் தலையணை வைத்துத் தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தார். அவர்கள், “போதகரே, சாகப்போகிறோமே! உமக்குக் கவலையில்லையா?” என்று சொல்லி அவரை எழுப்பினார்கள். அவர் விழித்தெழுந்து காற்றைக் கடிந்துகொண்டார். கடலை நோக்கி, “இரையாதே, அமைதியாயிரு” என்றார். காற்று அடங்கியது; மிகுந்த அமைதி உண்டாயிற்று.

பின் அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி, “ஏன் அஞ்சுகிறீர்கள்? உங்களுக்கு இன்னும் நம்பிக்கை இல்லையா?” என்று கேட்டார். அவர்கள் பேரச்சம் கொண்டு, “காற்றும் கடலும் இவருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகின்றனவே! இவர் யாரோ?” என்று ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பேசிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

கிறிஸ்துவின் பேரன்பே எங்களை ஆட்கொள்கிறது. ஏனெனில் ஒருவர் அனைவருக்காகவும் இறந்தார். அனைவரும் அவரோடு இறந்தனர். இது நமக்குத் தெரியும். வாழ்வோர் இனித் தங்களுக்கென வாழாமல் தங்களுக்காக இறந்து உயிர்பெற்றெழுந்தவருக்காக வாழ வேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவே அவர் அனைவருக்காகவும் இறந்தார்.

ஆகவே இனிமேல் நாங்கள் எவரையும் மனித முறைப்படி மதிப்பிடுவதில்லை; முன்பு நாங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவையும் மனித முறைப்படிதான் மதிப்பிட்டோம். ஆனால் இப்போது அவ்வாறு செய்வதில்லை. எனவே ஒருவர் கிறிஸ்துவோடு இணைந்திருக்கும்போது அவர் புதிதாகப் படைக்கப்பட்டவராய் இருக்கிறார். பழையன கழிந்து புதியன புகுந்தன அன்றோ!

அவர் ஒரு வார்த்தை சொல்ல, புயல் காற்று எழுந்தது; அது கடலின் அலைகளைக் கொந்தளிக்கச் செய்தது.

அவர்கள் வானமட்டும் மேலே வீசப்பட்டனர்; பாதாளமட்டும் கீழே தள்ளப்பட்டனர்; அவர்கள் உள்ளமோ இக்கட்டால் நிலைகுலைந்தது. - பல்லவி

தம் நெருக்கடியில் அவர்கள் ஆண்டவரைக் கூவியழைத்தனர்; அவர்களுக்குற்ற துன்பங்களிலிருந்து அவர் அவர்களை விடுவித்தார்.

புயல் காற்றை அவர் பூந்தென்றலாக மாற்றினார்; கடல் அலைகளும் ஓய்ந்துவிட்டன. - பல்லவி

அமைதி உண்டானதால் அவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியுற்றனர்; அவர்கள் விரும்பிய துறைமுகத்திற்கு அவர் அவர்களைக் கொண்டு போய்ச் சேர்த்தார்.

ஆண்டவர் சூறாவளியினின்று யோபுக்கு அருளிய பதில்:

“கருப்பையினின்று கடல் உடைப்பெடுத்து ஓடிய பொழுது அதனைக் கதவிட்டு அடைத்தவர் யார்? மேகத்தை அதற்கு மேலாடையாக்கி, காரிருளைப் பொதி துணியாக்கி, எல்லைகளை நான் அதற்குக் குறித்து கதவையும் தாழ்ப்பாளையும் பொருத்தி ‘இதுவரை வருவாய், இதற்கு மேல் அல்ல; உன் இறுமாப்பின் அலைகள் இங்கே நிற்க!’ என்று நான் இயம்பியபோது எங்கிருந்தாய் நீ?”

With the coming of evening, Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Let us cross over to the other side.’ And leaving the crowd behind they took him, just as he was, in the boat; and there were other boats with him. Then it began to blow a gale and the waves were breaking into the boat so that it was almost swamped. But he was in the stern, his head on the cushion, asleep. They woke him and said to him, ‘Master, do you not care? We are going down!’ And he woke up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Quiet now! Be calm!’ And the wind dropped, and all was calm again. Then he said to them, ‘Why are you so frightened? How is it that you have no faith?’ They were filled with awe and said to one another, ‘Who can this be? Even the wind and the sea obey him.’

We do not judge anyone by the standards of the flesh.

A Reading from the Second Letter of St.Paul to the Corinthians 5:14-17.

The love of Christ overwhelms us when we reflect that if one man has died for all, then all men should be dead; and the reason he died for all was so that living men should live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised to life for them.

  From now onwards, therefore, we do not judge anyone by the standards of the flesh. Even if we did once know Christ in the flesh, that is not how we know him now. And for anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation; the old creation has gone, and now the new one is here.

From the heart of the tempest the Lord gave Job his answer. He said:

Who pent up the sea behind closed doors

  when it leapt tumultuous out of the womb,

when I wrapped it in a robe of mist

  and made black clouds its swaddling bands;

when I marked the bounds it was not to cross

  and made it fast with a bolted gate?

Come thus far, I said, and no farther:

  here your proud waves shall break.
