தீர்ப்பு நாளில் தென்னாட்டு அரசி இத்தலைமுறையினரோடு எழுந்து இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார்.

✠ மத்தேயு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 38-42

அக்காலத்தில்

மறைநூல்அறிஞர் சிலரும் பரிசேயர் சிலரும் இயேசுவுக்கு மறுமொழியாக, “போதகரே, நீர் அடையாளம் ஒன்று காட்ட வேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறோம்” என்றனர்.

அதற்கு அவர் கூறியது: “இந்தத் தீய விபசாரத் தலைமுறையினர் அடையாளம் கேட்கின்றனர். இவர்களுக்கு இறைவாக்கினரான யோனாவின் அடையாளத்தைத் தவிர வேறு அடையாளம் எதுவும் கொடுக்கப்படமாட்டாது. யோனா மூன்று பகலும் மூன்று இரவும் ஒரு பெரிய மீனின் வயிற்றில் இருந்தார். அவ்வாறே மானிட மகனும் மூன்று பகலும் மூன்று இரவும் நிலத்தின் உள்ளே இருப்பார்.

தீர்ப்பு நாளில் நினிவே மக்கள் இத்தலைமுறையினரோடு எழுந்து, இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார்கள். ஏனெனில் யோனா அறிவித்த செய்தியைக் கேட்டு அவர்கள் மனம் மாறியவர்கள். ஆனால், இங்கிருப்பவர் யோனாவை விடப் பெரியவர் அல்லவா!

தீர்ப்பு நாளில் தென்னாட்டு அரசி இத்தலைமுறையினரோடு எழுந்து இவர்களைக் கண்டனம் செய்வார். ஏனெனில் அவர் சாலமோனின் ஞானத்தைக் கேட்க உலகின் கடைக்கோடியிலிருந்து வந்தவர். ஆனால் இங்கிருப்பவர் சாலமோனிலும் பெரியவர் அல்லவா!”

பார்வோனை வென்று நான் மாட்சியுறும்போது, `நானே ஆண்டவர்' என்று எகிப்தியர் உணர்ந்து கொள்வர்.

அந்நாள்களில்

மக்கள் ஓடிப் போய்விட்டார்கள் என எகிப்திய மன்னனுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, பார்வோனின் மனமும் அவன் அலுவலர் மனமும் இம்மக்களைப் பொறுத்தமட்டில் மாற்றம் கண்டது. “நாம் இப்படிச் செய்துவிட்டோமே! நமக்கு ஊழியம் செய்த இஸ்ரயேலரை ஏன்தான் அனுப்பிவிட்டோம்?” என்று அவர்கள் பேசிக்கொண்டனர். எனவே அவன் தன் தேரைப் பூட்டித் தன் ஆள்களையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு கிளம்பினான். தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட அறுநூறு தேர்களையும், மற்றும் எகிப்திலிருந்த எல்லாத் தேர்களையும், அவற்றின் படைத்தலைவர்கள் அனைவரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு புறப்பட்டான்.

ஆண்டவர் எகிப்திய மன்னனாகிய பார்வோனின் மனம் இறுகிவிடச் செய்தார்; அவனும் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களைத் துரத்திச் சென்றான். இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களோ வெற்றிக் கை உயர்த்தியவாறு சென்று கொண்டிருந்தனர். பார்வோனின் குதிரைகள், தேர்கள், குதிரை வீரர்கள், படை ஆகிய இவை அனைத்தோடும் எகிப்தியர் அவர்களைத் துரத்திச் சென்று பாகால் செபோனுக்கு எதிரேயுள்ள பிககிரோத்தின் எதிரே கடலின் அருகில் பாளையம் இறங்கியிருந்த அவர்களை நெருங்கினர்.

பார்வோன் நெருங்கிவந்துகொண்டிருக்க, இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களும் தம் கண்களை உயர்த்தி எகிப்தியர் தங்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து வந்து கொண்டிருப்பதைக் கண்டனர். பெரிதும் அச்சமுற்றவராய் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் ஆண்டவரை நோக்கிக் கூக்குரல் எழுப்பினர். அவர்கள் மோசேயை நோக்கி, “எகிப்தில் சவக்குழிகள் இல்லையென்றா நீர் எங்களைப் பாலைநிலத்தில் சாவதற்கு இழுத்து வந்தீர்? எகிப்திலிருந்து எங்களை வெளியேற்றி இப்படி எங்களுக்குச் செய்துவிட்டீரே! ‘எங்களை விட்டு விடும்; நாங்கள் எகிப்தியர்களுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்வோம்’ என்பதுதானே எகிப்தில் நாங்கள் உம்மிடம் கூறிய வார்த்தை! ஏனெனில் பாலைநிலத்தில் செத்தொழிவதைவிட, எகிப்தியருக்கு ஊழியம் செய்வதே எங்களுக்கு நலம்” என்றனர்.

மோசே மக்களை நோக்கி, “அஞ்சாதீர்கள்! நிலைகுலையாதீர்கள்! இன்று ஆண்டவர்தாமே உங்களுக்காக ஆற்றும் விடுதலைச் செயலைப் பாருங்கள். இன்று நீங்கள் காணும் எகிப்தியரை இனிமேல் என்றுமே காணப் போவதில்லை. ஆண்டவரே உங்களுக்காகப் போரிடுவார்; நீங்கள் அமைதியாயிருங்கள்” என்றார்.

ஆண்டவர் மோசேயை நோக்கி, “ஏன் என்னை நோக்கி அழவேண்டும்? முன்னோக்கிச் செல்லும்படி இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களிடம் சொல். கோலை உயர்த்திப் பிடித்தவாறு உன் கையைக் கடல்மேல் நீட்டி அதனைப் பிரித்து விடு. இஸ்ரயேல் மக்கள் கடல் நடுவே உலர்ந்த தரையில் நடந்து செல்வார்கள். நான் எகிப்தியரின் மனத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்துவேன். அவர்கள் இஸ்ரயேலரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து செல்வார்கள். அப்போது பார்வோனையும் அவனுடைய படைகள், தேர்கள், குதிரை வீரர்கள் அனைவரையும் வென்று நான் மாட்சியுறுவேன். பார்வோனையும் அவன் தேர்களையும் குதிரை வீரர்கள் அனைவரையும் வென்று நான் மாட்சியுறும்போது, ‘நானே ஆண்டவர்’ என்று எகிப்தியர் உணர்ந்து கொள்வர்” என்றார்.

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Matthew (12, 38-42) 

At that time some of the scribes and Pharisees spoke to Jesus: “Master, we want to see a sign from you. He answered them: "This evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, but, in fact of a sign, it will be given only the sign of the prophet Jonah. Indeed, as Jonah remained in the belly of the sea monster three days and three nights, the Son of man will also remain in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. At the judgment, the inhabitants of Nineveh will arise together with this generation, and they will condemn it; for they were converted in response to Jonah's proclamation, and there is more here than Jonah. At the Judgment, the Queen of Sheba will rise up at the same time as this generation, and she will condemn it; indeed, she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is more here than Solomon. "

A Reading from the book of Exodus (14, 5-18) 

In those days it was announced to the king of Egypt that the people of Israel had fled. So Pharaoh and his servants changed their minds towards this people. They said, "What have we done by letting Israel go: it will no longer be in our service!" Pharaoh had his chariot harnessed and his troops assembled; he took six hundred chosen chariots and all the chariots of Egypt, each with his crew. The Lord made sure that Pharaoh, king of Egypt, persisted in pursuing the children of Israel, while they advanced freely. The Egyptians, all the horses, Pharaoh's chariots, his warriors and his army pursued and joined them as they encamped by the sea, near Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Sefone. , the children of Israel looked and, Seeing the Egyptians chasing them, they were very afraid, and they cried out to the Lord.
