அக்காலத்தில்

பரிசேயர் ஒருவர் இருந்தார்; அவர் பெயர் நிக்கதேம். அவர் யூதத் தலைவர்களுள் ஒருவர். அவர் ஓர் இரவில் இயேசுவிடம் வந்து, “ரபி, நீர் கடவுளிடமிருந்து வந்த போதகர் என்பதை நாங்கள் அறிவோம். கடவுள் தம்மோடு இருந்தாலன்றி, நீர் செய்யும் இவ்வரும் அடையாளங்களை யாரும் செய்ய இயலாது” என்றார். இயேசு அவரைப் பார்த்து, “மறுபடியும் பிறந்தாலன்றி எவரும் இறையாட்சியைக் காண இயலாது என மிக உறுதியாக உமக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்” என்றார்.

நிக்கதேம் அவரை நோக்கி, “வயதானபின் ஒருவர் எப்படிப் பிறக்க முடியும்? அவர் மீண்டும் தாயின் வயிற்றில் புகுந்து பிறக்க முடியுமா?” என்று கேட்டார். இயேசு அவரைப் பார்த்து, “ஒருவர் தண்ணீராலும் தூய ஆவியாலும் பிறந்தாலன்றி இறையாட்சிக்கு உட்பட இயலாது என்று மிக உறுதியாக உமக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். மனிதரால் பிறப்பவர் மனித இயல்பை உடையவர். தூய ஆவியால் பிறப்பவர் தூய ஆவியின் இயல்பை உடையவர். நீங்கள் மறுபடியும் பிறக்க வேண்டும் என்று நான் உமக்குக் கூறியது பற்றி நீர் வியப்படைய வேண்டாம். காற்று விரும்பிய திசையில் வீசுகிறது. அதன் ஓசை உமக்குக் கேட்கிறது. ஆனால் அது எங்கிருந்து வருகிறது என்றும் எங்குச் செல்கிறது என்றும் உமக்குத் தெரியாது. தூய ஆவியால் பிறந்த அனைவருக்கும் இது பொருந்தும்” என்றார்.

வேற்றினத்தார் சீறி எழுவதேன்? மக்களினங்கள் வீணாகச் சூழ்ச்சி செய்வதேன்?

ஆண்டவர்க்கும் அவர்தம் அருள்பொழிவு பெற்றவர்க்கும் எதிராகப் பூவுலகின் அரசர்கள் அணிவகுத்து நிற்கின்றார்கள்; ஆள்வோர் ஒன்றுகூடிச் சதிசெய்கின்றார்கள்;

நீர் விரும்புவதை என்னிடம் கேளும்; பிற நாடுகளை உமக்கு உரிமைச் சொத்தாக்குவேன்; பூவுலகை அதன் கடையெல்லைவரை உமக்கு உடைமையாக்குவேன்.

முதல் வாசகம்

அனைவரும் தூய ஆவியால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்டவர்களாய்க் கடவுளின் வார்த்தைகளைத் துணிவுடன் எடுத்துக் கூறினர்.

திருத்தூதர் பணிகள் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 4: 23-31

அந்நாள்களில்

விடுதலை பெற்ற சீடர்கள், தங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களிடம் வந்து, தலைமைக் குருக்களும் மூப்பர்களும் தங்களுக்குக் கூறிய யாவற்றையும் அறிவித்தார்கள். இவற்றைக் கேட்ட யாவரும் ஒரே மனத்துடன் தங்கள் குரலைக் கடவுள்பால் எழுப்பி, பின்வருமாறு மன்றாடினர்:

“ஆண்டவரே, ‘விண்ணுலகையும் மண்ணுலகையும் கடலையும் அவற்றிலுள்ள அனைத்தையும் படைத்தவர் நீரே'. எங்கள் தந்தையும் உம் ஊழியருமாகிய தாவீது வாயிலாகத் தூய ஆவி மூலம் ‘வேற்றினத்தார் சீறி எழுவதேன்? மக்களினங்கள் வீணாகச் சூழ்ச்சி செய்வதேன்? பூவுலகின் அரசர்களும் தலைவர்களும் ஆண்டவருக்கும் அவர்தம் மெசியாவுக்கும் எதிராக அணிவகுத்து நின்றனர்’ என்று உரைத்தீர். அதன்படியே இந்நகரில் உம்மால் அருள்பொழிவு பெற்ற உம் தூய ஊழியராகிய இயேசுவுக்கு எதிராக ஏரோதும் பொந்தியு பிலாத்தும் பிற இனத்தவரோடும் இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களோடும் ஒன்றுதிரண்டனர். உமது கைவன்மையும் உமது திட்டமும் முன்குறித்த அனைத்தையும் அவர்கள் செய்து முடித்தனர்.

இப்போது கூட ஆண்டவரே, அவர்கள் அச்சுறுத்துவதைப் பாரும். உம் அடியார் முழுத் துணிவுடன் உமது வார்த்தைகளை எடுத்துக் கூற அருள் தாரும். உமது தூய ஊழியர் இயேசுவின் பெயரால் உமது கையை நீட்டி நோயுற்றோருக்கு நலமளியும்; அடையாளங்களும் அருஞ்செயல்களும் நடைபெறச் செய்யும்.”

இவ்வாறு மன்றாடியவுடன் அவர்கள் கூடியிருந்த இடம் அதிர்ந்தது. அவர்கள் அனைவரும் தூய ஆவியால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்டவர்களாய்க் கடவுளின் வார்த்தைகளைத் துணிவுடன் எடுத்துக் கூறினர்.

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (3, 1-8) 

There was a man, a Pharisee named Nicodemus; he was a notable among the Jews. He came to find Jesus during the night. He said to him: "Rabbi, we know, it is from God that you came as a teacher who teaches, for no one can perform the signs that you, you perform, if God is not with him. . Jesus answered him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, unless one is born from on high, one cannot see the kingdom of God." Nicodemus replied: "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mother's womb a second time and be reborn? Jesus answered, "Amen, amen, I say to you, no one, except being born of water and of the Spirit, can enter into the kingdom of God." What is born of the flesh is flesh; what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Don't be surprised if I told you: you have to be born from above. In those days, when Peter and John were released, they came to their people and reported everything the high priests and elders had told them. After having listened, all, with one heart, raised their voice to God, saying: “Master, you, you made the sky and the earth and the sea and all that they contain. Through the Holy Spirit you have put these words into the mouth of our father David your servant: Why this tumult of the nations, this vain murmur of the peoples? The kings of the earth have arisen, the rulers are united among themselves against the Lord and against his Christ? And it is true: in this city, Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the nations and the people of Israel, united against Jesus, your Holy One, your Servant, the Christ to whom you anointed; they did all that you had decided in advance in your power and according to your design. And now, Lord, be attentive to their threats: allow those who serve You to speak your word with total assurance.
