கடவுளின் திருவுளத்தை நிறைவேற்றுபவரே, என் சகோதரரும் சகோதரியும் தாயும் ஆவார்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசுவின் தாயும் சகோதரர்களும் வந்து வெளியே நின்றுகொண்டு அவரை வரச் சொல்லி ஆள் அனுப்பினார்கள். அவரைச் சூழ்ந்து மக்கள் கூட்டம் அமர்ந்திருந்தது. “அதோ, உம் தாயும் சகோதரர்களும் சகோதரிகளும் வெளியே நின்றுகொண்டு உம்மைத் தேடுகிறார்கள்” என்று அவரிடம் சொன்னார்கள்.

அவர் அவர்களைப் பார்த்து, “என் தாயும் என் சகோதரர்களும் யார்?” என்று கேட்டு, தம்மைச் சூழ்ந்து அமர்ந்திருந்தவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் பார்த்து, “இதோ! என் தாயும் என் சகோதரர்களும் இவர்களே. கடவுளின் திருவுளத்தை நிறைவேற்றுபவரே என் சகோதரரும் சகோதரியும் தாயும் ஆவார்” என்றார்.

பலியையும் காணிக்கையையும் நீர் விரும்பவில்லை; எரிபலியையும் பாவம் போக்கும் பலியையும் நீர் கேட்கவில்லை; ஆனால், என் செவிகள் திறக்கும்படி செய்தீர்.

இதோ உமது திருவுளத்தை நிறைவேற்ற, வருகின்றேன்.

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

வரப்போகும் நலன்களின் உண்மை உருவைத் திருச்சட்டம் எடுத்துக்காட்டவில்லை; அது அவற்றின் நிழலாக மட்டுமே உள்ளது. எனவேதான் ஆண்டுதோறும் இடைவிடாமல் செலுத்தப்படும் அதே பலிகளால் வழிபட வருபவர்களை நிறைவுள்ளவர்களாக்க அதற்கு வலிமை இல்லை. அவ்வாறு இருந்திருந்தால், பலி செலுத்துவது நின்றிருக்கும் அல்லவா? ஏனெனில், வழிபடுபவர்கள் ஒரே முறையில் தூய்மை அடைந்திருந்தால், பாவத்தைப் பற்றிய உணர்வே அவர்களிடம் இராதே! மாறாக, பாவங்கள் நீங்கவில்லை என்பதை அந்தப் பலிகள் ஆண்டுதோறும் நினைவுபடுத்திக்கொண்டே இருக்கின்றன. ஆம், காளைகள், வெள்ளாட்டுக் கிடாய்கள் இவற்றின் இரத்தம் பாவங்களைப் போக்க முடியாது.

அதனால்தான் கிறிஸ்து உலகிற்கு வந்தபோது, “பலியையும் காணிக்கையையும் நீர் விரும்பவில்லை, ஆனால் ஓர் உடலை எனக்கு அமைத்துத் தந்தீர். எரிபலிகளும் பாவம் போக்கும் பலிகளும் உமக்கு உகந்தவையல்ல. எனவே நான் கூறியது: என் கடவுளே, உமது திருவுளத்தை நிறைவேற்ற, இதோ வருகின்றேன். என்னைக் குறித்துத் திருநூல் சுருளில் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது” என்கிறார்.

திருச்சட்டப்படி செலுத்தப்பட்ட போதிலும், “நீர் பலிகளையும் காணிக்கைகளையும் எரிபலிகளையும் பாவம் போக்கும் பலிகளையும் விரும்பவில்லை; இவை உமக்கு உகந்தவையல்ல” என்று அவர் முதலில் கூறுகிறார். பின்னர் “உமது திருவுளத்தை நிறைவேற்ற, இதோ வருகின்றேன்” என்கிறார். பின்னையதை நிலைக்கச் செய்ய முன்னையதை நீக்கிவிடுகிறார்.

இந்தத் திருவுளத்தால்தான் இயேசு கிறிஸ்து ஒரே ஒரு முறை தம் உடலைப் பலியாகச் செலுத்தியதன் மூலம் நாம் தூயவர் ஆக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறோம்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 3:31-35 

The mother and brothers of Jesus arrived and, standing outside, sent in a message asking for him. A crowd was sitting round him at the time the message was passed to him, ‘Your mother and brothers and sisters are outside asking for you.’ He replied, ‘Who are my mother and my brothers?’ And looking round at those sitting in a circle about him, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers. Anyone who does the will of God, that person is my brother and sister and mother.’

Christ’s self-offering sanctifies us

A reading from the letter to the Hebrews 10: 1-10 

Since the Law has no more than a reflection of these realities, and no finished picture of them, it is quite incapable of bringing the worshippers to perfection, with the same sacrifices repeatedly offered year after year. Otherwise, the offering of them would have stopped, because the worshippers, when they had been purified once, would have no awareness of sins. Instead of that, the sins are recalled year after year in the sacrifices. Bulls’ blood and goats’ blood are useless for taking away sins, and this is what he said, on coming into the world:

You who wanted no sacrifice or oblation,

prepared a body for me.

You took no pleasure in holocausts or sacrifices for sin;

then I said,

just as I was commanded in the scroll of the book,

‘God, here I am! I am coming to obey your will.’

Notice that he says first: You did not want what the Law lays down as the things to be offered, that is: the sacrifices, the oblations, the holocausts and the sacrifices for sin, and you took no pleasure in them; and then he says: Here I am! I am coming to obey your will. He is abolishing the first sort to replace it with the second. And this will was for us to be made holy by the offering of his body made once and for all by Jesus Christ.
