எனது சதை உண்மையான உணவு. எனது இரத்தம் உண்மையான பானம்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு யூதர்கள் கூட்டத்தை நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “விண்ணகத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்த வாழ்வு தரும் உணவு நானே. இந்த உணவை எவராவது உண்டால் அவர் என்றுமே வாழ்வார். எனது சதையை உணவாகக் கொடுக்கிறேன். அதை உலகு வாழ்வதற்காகவே கொடுக்கிறேன்.”

“நாம் உண்பதற்கு இவர் தமது சதையை எப்படிக் கொடுக்க இயலும்?” என்ற வாக்குவாதம் அவர்களிடையே எழுந்தது. இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: மானிட மகனுடைய சதையை உண்டு அவருடைய இரத்தத்தைக் குடித்தாலொழிய நீங்கள் வாழ்வு அடைய மாட்டீர்கள். எனது சதையை உண்டு என் இரத்தத்தைக் குடிப்பவர் நிலைவாழ்வைக் கொண்டுள்ளார். நானும் அவரை இறுதி நாளில் உயிர்த்தெழச் செய்வேன். எனது சதை உண்மையான உணவு. எனது இரத்தம் உண்மையான பானம். எனது சதையை உண்டு எனது இரத்தத்தைக் குடிப்போர் என்னோடு இணைந்திருப்பர், நானும் அவர்களோடு இணைந்திருப்பேன். வாழும் தந்தை என்னை அனுப்பினார். நானும் அவரால் வாழ்கிறேன். அதுபோல் என்னை உண்போரும் என்னால் வாழ்வர். விண்ணகத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்த உணவு இதுவே; இது நம் முன்னோர் உண்ட உணவு போன்றது அல்ல. அதை உண்டவர்கள் இறந்து போனார்கள். இவ்வுணவை உண்போர் என்றும் வாழ்வர்.”

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

அப்பம் ஒன்றே. ஆதலால் நாம் பலராயினும் ஒரே உடலாய் இருக்கிறோம்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதிய முதல் திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 10: 16-17

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

கடவுளைப் போற்றித் திருவிருந்துக் கிண்ணத்திலிருந்து பருகுகிறோமே, அது கிறிஸ்துவின் இரத்தத்தில் பங்கு கொள்ளுதல் அல்லவா! அப்பத்தைப் பிட்டு உண்ணுகிறோமே, அது கிறிஸ்துவின் உடலில் பங்குகொள்ளுதல் அல்லவா! அப்பம் ஒன்றே. ஆதலால் நாம் பலராயினும் ஒரே உடலாய் இருக்கிறோம். ஏனெனில் நாம் அனைவரும் அந்த ஒரே அப்பத்தில்தான் பங்கு கொள்கிறோம்.

ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.

சீயோனே, உன் மீட்பரைப் புகழ்வாய்,

கீதமும் பாடலும் இசைத்தே உந்தன்

ஆயரை, தலைவரைப் புகழ்வாயே.

எல்லாப் புகழும் கடந்தவர் அவரே;

இயலாது உன்னால் அவரைப் புகழ,

இயன்ற மட்டும் துணிந்திடுவாயே.

உயிர்மிகு அப்பம் உயிர்தரும் உணவாம்

போற்றுதற்குரிய இப்பேருண்மை

இன்று சிந்தனைக்கு ஏற்ற பொருளே.

தூய விருந்தின் பந்தியில் அன்று

பன்னிரு சோதரர் கூட்ட மதற்கே

கிடைத்த உணவிது; ஐயமே யில்லை.

ஆர்ப்பரிப் புடனே இனிமையும் கலந்த

நிறைபுகழ்க் கீதம் ஒலிப்பதோ டன்றி

மகிழ்வும் மனதில் பெருகிடல் தகுமே.

பெருஞ்சிறப்பான திருவிழா இன்றே

இத்திரு விருந்தை முதன் முதலாக

நிறுவிய நாளை நினைவுகூர்கின்றோம்.

புதிய பேரரசரின் இத்திருப் பந்தியில்

புதிய ஏற்பாட்டின் புதுத்தனிப் பாஸ்கா

பழைய பாஸ்காவை முடிவுறச் செய்யும்.

புதுமை பழமையைப் போக்குதல் காணீர்,

உண்மை நிழலை ஓட்டுதல் காணீர்,

ஒளியோ இரவை ஒழித்தல் காணீர்.

திருவிருந்ததனில் நிறைவேற்றியதைத்

தம் நினைவாகச் சீடரும் செய்யக்

கட்டளை தந்தார் கிறிஸ்து பெருமான்.

திருக் கட்டளையால் அறிவுரை பெற்று

அப்பமும் இரசமும் மீட்புக்குரிய

பலிப் பொருளாக அர்ச்சிக்கின்றோம்.

அப்பம் மாறி அவர் ஊன் ஆவதும்,

இரசமது மாறி இரத்தமாவதும்

கிறிஸ்துவர்க் கருளிய உண்மையாமே.

புலனையும் அறிவையும் முற்றும் கடந்து,

இயற்கை முறைமைக் கப்பால்,

உள்ளத்தை உறுதியோ டேற்கும் உயிர்விசு வாசம்.

அப்பமும் இரசமும் குணங்களில் வேறாய்

அவற்றின் தோற்றம் மட்டுமே யிருக்க

அற்புத உட்பொருள் மறைவாய் உள்ளதே.

ஊனே உணவு, இரத்தமே பானம்

இருவித குணங்கள் ஒவ்வொன் றுள்ளும்

கிறிஸ்து முழுவதும் உண்டெனக் கொள்வீர்.

உண்பவர் அவரைப் பிய்ப்பதுமில்லை.

உடைப்பதுமில்லை, பிரிப்பதுமில்லை.

அவரை முழுதாய் உண்கின் றனரே.

உண்பவர் ஒருவரோ, ஆயிரம் பேரோ,

ஒருவர் உண்பதையே அனைவரும் உண்பர்;

உண்பதால் என்றுமே தீர்வதுமில்லை.

நல்லவர் உண்பர், தீயரும் உண்பர்

அதனால் அவர் பெறும் பயன் வெவ்வேறாம்

முன்னவர் வாழ்வார், பின்னவர் அழிவார்.

நல்லோர் வாழ்வார், தீயோர் அழிவார்:

உணவொன்றாயினும் எத்துணை வேறாம்

பயன்விளைத் திடுமெனப் பகுத்துணர் வாயே.

அப்ப மதனைப் பிட்ட பின்னரும்

முழுமையில் எதுவோ அதுவே பகுதியில்

உளதாம், அறிந்திடு, ஐயமே வேண்டா.

உட்பொருள் பிளவு படுவதே யில்லை;

குணத்தில் மட்டும் பிடப்படுமே

அவரது நிலையும் உருவும் குறையா.

வானவர் உணவிதோ வழிநடப் போர்க்கும்

உணவா யிற்றே; மக்களின் உணவை

நாய்கட் கெறிதல் நலமா காதே.

ஈசாக் பலியிலும் பாஸ்கா மறியிலும்

நம் முன்னோர்க்குத் தந்த மன்னாவிலும்

இந்தப் பலியின் முன்குறி காண்பீர்.

நல்ல ஆயனே, உண்மை உணவே,

யேசுவே, எம்மேல் இரங்கிடு வீரே,

எமக்குநல் அமுதே ஊட்டிடுவீரே.

நும்திரு மந்தை எம்மைக் காத்து,

நித்திய வாழ்வினர் வாழும் நாட்டில்

நலன்கள் அனைத்தும் காணச் செய்வீர்.

அனைத்தும் அறிவோய், அனைத்தும் வல்லோய்,

மாந்தர்க் கிங்கு உணவினைத் தருவோய்,

அங்கும் பந்தியில் அமரச் செய்வாய்.

அமர்ந்து நும்முடன் பங்கினைக் கொள்ளவும்,

வான்திருக் கூட்டத்தின் நட்பினராகவும், அருள்வீர்,

ஆமென், அல்லேலூயா.

நற்செய்திக்கு முன் வாழ்த்தொலி

யோவா 6: 51-52

அல்லேலூயா, அல்லேலூயா!

 விண்ணகத்திலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்த வாழ்வு தரும் உணவு நானே. இந்த உணவை எவராவது உண்டால் அவர் என்றுமே வாழ்வார், என்கிறார் ஆண்டவர். அல்லேலூயா.

மோசே மக்களை நோக்கிக் கூறியது:

உங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் பாலைநிலத்தில் உங்களைக் கூட்டிச் சென்ற எல்லா வழிகளையும் நினைவில் கொள்ளுங்கள். அதன் மூலமே அவர் உங்களை எளியவராக்கினார். அவர்தம் கட்டளைகளை நீங்கள் கடைப்பிடிப்பீர்களோ மாட்டீர்களோ என உங்கள் உள்ளச் சிந்தனையை அறிந்து கொள்ளவும் சோதித்தார்.

அடிமைத்தனத்தின் வீடாகிய எகிப்து நாட்டிலிருந்து உங்களைக் கூட்டி வந்த உங்கள் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரை மறந்துவிட வேண்டாம். அவரே, கொள்ளிவாய்ப் பாம்புகளும் தேள்களும் நிறைந்த, நீரற்று வறண்ட நிலமான பரந்த கொடிய பாலைநிலத்தில் உங்களை வழிநடத்தியவர்; இறுகிய பாறையிலிருந்து உங்களுக்காக நீரைப் புறப்படச் செய்தவர். உங்கள் மூதாதையருக்குத் தெரிந்திராத மன்னாவால் பாலைநிலத்தில் உங்களை உண்பித்தவர்.

My flesh is real food and my blood is real drink

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.John 6:51-58 

Jesus said to the crowd:

‘I am the living bread which has come down from heaven.

Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever;

and the bread that I shall give is my flesh,

for the life of the world.’

Then the Jews started arguing with one another: ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ they said. Jesus replied:

‘I tell you most solemnly,

if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,

you will not have life in you.

Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood

has eternal life,

and I shall raise him up on the last day.

For my flesh is real food

and my blood is real drink.

He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood

lives in me

and I live in him.

As I, who am sent by the living Father,

myself draw life from the Father,

so whoever eats me will draw life from me.

This is the bread come down from heaven;

not like the bread our ancestors ate:

they are dead,

but anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.’

That there is only one loaf means that, though we are many, we form one body

A Reading from the First Letter of St.Paul to the  Corinthians 10:16-17 

The blessing-cup that we bless is a communion with the blood of Christ, and the bread that we break is a communion with the body of Christ. The fact that there is only one loaf means that, though there are many of us, we form a single body because we all have a share in this one loaf.

Sing forth, O Zion, sweetly sing

The praises of thy Shepherd-King,

  In hymns and canticles divine;

  The living, life-dispensing food –

He fed you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known

A Reading from the Book of Deuteronomy 8: 2-3,14-16 

Moses said to the people: ‘Remember how the Lord your God led you for forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, to test you and know your inmost heart – whether you would keep his commandments or not. He humbled you, he made you feel hunger, he fed you with manna which neither you nor your fathers had known, to make you understand that man does not live on bread alone but that man lives on everything that comes from the mouth of the Lord.

  ‘Do not become proud of heart. Do not forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery: who guided you through this vast and dreadful wilderness, a land of fiery serpents, scorpions, thirst; who in this waterless place brought you water from the hardest rock; who in this wilderness fed you with manna that your fathers had not known.’
