அனைவரும் முழுமையாய் ஒன்றித்திருப்பார்களாக!

✠ யோவான் எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 17: 20-26

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு வானத்தை அண்ணாந்து பார்த்து வேண்டியது: “தந்தையே, என் சீடர்களுக்காக மட்டும் நான் வேண்டவில்லை; அவர்களுடைய வார்த்தையின் வழியாக என்னிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொள்வோருக்காகவும் வேண்டுகிறேன். எல்லாரும் ஒன்றாய் இருப்பார்களாக! தந்தையே, நீர் என்னுள்ளும் நான் உம்முள்ளும் இருப்பதுபோல் அவர்களும் ஒன்றாய் இருப்பார்களாக! இதனால் நீரே என்னை அனுப்பினீர் என்று உலகம் நம்பும்.

நாம் ஒன்றாய் இருப்பதுபோல் அவர்களும் ஒன்றாய் இருக்குமாறு நீர் எனக்கு அருளிய மாட்சியை நான் அவர்களுக்கு அளித்தேன். இவ்வாறு, நான் அவர்களுள்ளும் நீர் என்னுள்ளும் இருப்பதால் அவர்களும் முழுமையாய் ஒன்றித்திருப்பார்களாக. இதனால் நீரே என்னை அனுப்பினீர் எனவும் நீர் என்மீது அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளது போல் அவர்கள்மீதும் அன்பு கொண்டுள்ளீர் எனவும் உலகு அறிந்துகொள்ளும்.

தந்தையே, உலகம் தோன்றும் முன்னே நீர் என்மீது அன்பு கொண்டு எனக்கு மாட்சி அளித்தீர். நீர் என்னிடம் ஒப்படைத்தவர்கள் என் மாட்சியைக் காணுமாறு அவர்களும் நான் இருக்கும் இடத்திலேயே என்னோடு இருக்க வேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறேன்.

நீதியுள்ள தந்தையே, உலகு உம்மை அறியவில்லை; ஆனால் நான் உம்மை அறிந்துள்ளேன். நீரே என்னை அனுப்பினீர் என அவர்களும் அறிந்துகொண்டார்கள். நான் அவர்களோடு இணைந்திருக்கவும் நீர் என்மீது கொண்டிருந்த அன்பு அவர்கள்மீது இருக்கவும் உம்மைப்பற்றி அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்தேன்; இன்னும் அறிவிப்பேன்.”

அந்நாள்களில்

யூதர்கள் பவுல்மீது என்ன குற்றம் சுமத்துகிறார்கள் என்பதை உறுதியாக அறிய ஆயிரத்தவர் தலைவர் விரும்பினார். எனவே மறுநாள் தலைமைக் குருக்களும், தலைமைச் சங்கத்தினர் அனைவரும் கூடிவருமாறு அவர் ஆணை பிறப்பித்துப் பவுலைச் சிறையிலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்து அவர்கள் முன் நிறுத்தினார்.

அவர்களுள் ஒரு பகுதியினர் சதுசேயர் என்றும், மறு பகுதியினர் பரிசேயர் என்றும் பவுல் அறிந்து, “சகோதரரே! நான் ஒரு பரிசேயன். பரிசேய மரபில் பிறந்தவன்; இறந்தோர் உயிர்த்தெழுவர் என்னும் எதிர்நோக்கின் பொருட்டு விசாரிக்கப்படுகிறேன்” என்று தலைமைச் சங்கத்தின் முன் உரத்த குரலில் கூறினார்.

அவர் இப்படிச் சொன்னபோது பரிசேயருக்கும் சதுசேயருக்கும் இடையே வாக்குவாதம் எழுந்தது. எனவே அங்குத் திரண்டிருந்தோர் இரண்டாகப் பிரிந்தனர். சதுசேயப் பிரிவினர் வானதூதரும் உயிர்த்தெழுதல், ஆவிகள் ஆகியனவும் இல்லை என்று கூறிவந்தனர்; பரிசேயர் இவையனைத்தும் உண்டென ஏற்றுக்கொண்டனர். அங்குப் பெருங்கூச்சல் எழுந்தது. பரிசேயப் பிரிவினைச் சேர்ந்த மறைநூல் அறிஞருள் சிலர் எழுந்து, “இவரிடம் தவறொன்றையும் காணோமே! வானதூதர் ஒருவரோ, ஓர் ஆவியோ இவரோடு பேசியிருக்கலாம் அல்லவா!” என வாதாடினர்.

வாக்குவாதம் முற்றவே அவர்கள் பவுலைப் பிய்த்தெறிந்துவிடுவர் என ஆயிரத்தவர் தலைவர் அஞ்சிப் படைவீரரை வரச்சொல்லி அவரை அவர்கள் நடுவிலிருந்து பிடித்துக் கோட்டைக்குள் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு செல்லுமாறு ஆணை பிறப்பித்தார்.

மறுநாள் இரவு ஆண்டவர் அவரருகில் நின்று, “துணிவோடிரும்; எருசலேமில் என்னைப்பற்றிச் சான்று பகர்ந்ததுபோல உரோமையிலும் நீர் சான்றுபகர வேண்டும்” என்றார்.

"That they become perfectly one" 

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To John (17, 20-26) 

At that time, his eyes raised to heaven, Jesus prayed thus: “Holy Father, I do not pray only for those who are there, but also for those who, thanks to their word, will believe in me. May all be one, like you, Father, you are in me, and I in you. May they be one in us, too, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. And I, I gave them the glory that you gave me, so that they may be one as we are ONE: I in them, and you in me. May they thus become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me, and that you loved them as you loved me.

Father, those whom you have given to me, I want that where I am, they also be with me, and that they contemplate my glory, that which you gave to me because you loved me before the foundation of the world.

Righteous Father, the world has not known you, but I have known you, and these have recognized that you sent me. I have made known your name to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and so that I too may be in them. "

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (22, 30; 23, 6-11) 

In those days Paul had been arrested in Jerusalem. The next day the commandant wanted to know for sure what the Jews were accusing him of. He made her remove her ties; then he called together the high priests and all the supreme council, and he sent down Paul to bring him before them. Knowing that the Supreme Council was divided between Sadducees and Pharisees, Paul exclaimed before them: “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, son of Pharisees. It is because of our hope, the resurrection of the dead, that I stand on trial. No sooner had he said this when there was a clash between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the assembly was divided. Indeed, the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, no more than an angel or a spirit, while the Pharisees profess all this. There was then a great uproar. A few scribes on the Pharisees' side stood up and protested vigorously, “We find nothing wrong with this man. What if it was a spirit speaking to him, or an angel? The confrontation became very violent, and the captain feared that Paul would be cut to pieces. He ordered the troops to descend to snatch him from the melee and bring him back to the fortress.
