மணமகன் விருந்தினரோடு இருக்கிறார். 

மாற்கு எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 2: 18-22 

யோவானுடைய சீடரும் பரிசேயரும் நோன்பு இருந்து வந்தனர். சிலர் இயேசுவிடம், ``யோவானுடைய சீடர்களும் பரிசேயருடைய சீடர்களும் நோன்பு இருக்க, உம்முடைய சீடர்கள் ஏன் நோன்பு இருப்பதில்லை?'' என்று கேட்டனர். அதற்கு இயேசு அவர்களை நோக்கி, ``மணமகன் தங்களோடு இருக்கும்வரை மணவிருந்தினர்கள் நோன்பு இருக்க முடியுமா? மணமகன் அவர்களோடு இருக்கும் காலமெல்லாம் அவர்கள் நோன்பு இருக்க முடியாது. ஆனால் மணமகன் அவர்களை விட்டுப் பிரியவேண்டிய காலம் வரும். அப்போது அவர்களும் நோன்பு இருப்பார்கள். எவரும் பழைய ஆடையில் புதிய துணியை ஒட்டுப்போடுவதில்லை. அவ்வாறு ஒட்டுப்போட்டால், அந்தப் புதிய துணி பழையதிலிருந்து கிழியும்; கிழிசலும் பெரிதாகும். அதுபோலப் பழைய தோற்பைகளில், எவரும் புதிய திராட்சை மதுவை ஊற்றி வைப்பதில்லை. ஊற்றி வைத்தால் மது தோற்பைகளை வெடிக்கச் செய்யும்; மதுவும் தோற்பைகளும் பாழாகும். புதிய மது புதுத் தோற் பைகளுக்கே ஏற்றது'' என்றார். 

இது கிறிஸ்து வழங்கும் நற்செய்தி.

1 ஆண்டவர் என் தலைவரிடம், `நான் உம் பகைவரை உமக்குக்

கால்மணையாக்கும்வரை நீர் என் வலப்பக்கம் வீற்றிரும்' என்று உரைத்தார். பல்லவி 

2 வலிமைமிகு உமது செங்கோலை ஆண்டவர் சீயோனிலிருந்து ஓங்கச் செய்வார்;

உம் எதிரிகளிடையே ஆட்சி செலுத்தும்! பல்லவி 

3 நீர் உமது படைக்குத் தலைமை தாங்கும் நாளில் தூய கோலத்துடன் உம் மக்கள் தம்மை உவந்தளிப்பர்;

இறைமகனாய் இருந்தும், துன்பங்கள் வழியே கீழ்ப்படிதலைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டார். 

எபிரேயருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 5: 1-10 

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, தலைமைக் குரு ஒவ்வொருவரும் மனிதரிடமிருந்து தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டு, பாவங்களுக்குக் கழுவாயாகக் காணிக்கைகளையும் பலிகளையும் செலுத்துவதற்காக மக்கள் சார்பாகக் கடவுள் முன் பணிபுரிய ஏற்படுத்தப் படுகிறார். அவர் தாமே வலுவின்மைக்கு ஆளாகியிருப்பதால், அறியாமையில் இருப்போருக்கும் நெறி தவறி நடப்போருக்கும் பரிவு காட்டக் கூடியவராய் இருக்கிறார். அவர் மக்களுடைய பாவத்திற்குக் கழுவாயாகப் பலி செலுத்துவதுபோல, தம் வலுவின்மையின் பொருட்டுத் தமக்காகவும் பலி செலுத்தக் கடமைப்பட்டிருக்கிறார். மேலும், யாரும் இம்மதிப்புக்குரிய பணியைத் தாமே தேர்ந்துகொள்வதில்லை. ஆரோனுக்கு வந்ததுபோன்று கடவுளிடமிருந்தே அழைப்பு வரவேண்டும். அவ்வாறே கிறிஸ்துவும் தலைமைக் குருவாகத் தம்மையே உயர்த்திக்கொள்ளவில்லை. ``நீர் என் மைந்தர்; இன்று நான் உம்மைப் பெற்றெடுத்தேன்'' என்று அவரிடம் கூறியவரே அந்த மேன்மையை அவருக்கு அளித்தார். இவ்வாறே மற்றோரிடத்தில், ``மெல்கிசதேக்கின் முறைப்படி நீர் என்றென்றும் குருவே'' என்றும் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. அவர் இவ்வுலகில் வாழ்ந்த காலத்தில், தம்மைச் சாவிலிருந்து காப்பாற்ற வல்லவரை நோக்கி உரத்த குரல் எழுப்பி, கண்ணீர் சிந்தி, மன்றாடி வேண்டினார். அவர் கொண்டிருந்த இறைப்பற்று கலந்த அச்சத்தை முன்னிட்டு, கடவுள் அவருக்குச் செவிசாய்த்தார். அவர் இறைமகனாயிருந்தும், துன்பங்கள் வழியே கீழ்ப்படிதலைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டார். அவர் நிறைவுள்ளவராகி, `தமக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிவோர் அனைவரும் என்றென்றும் மீட்படையக் காரணமானார். ``மெல்கிசதேக்கின் முறைப்படி வந்த தலைமைக் குரு'' என்று கடவுள் அவருக்குப் பெயர் சூட்டினார். 

இது ஆண்டவர் வழங்கும் அருள்வாக்கு.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark (2, 18-22) 

At that time, as the disciples of John the Baptist and the Pharisees were fasting, Jesus was asked: "Why, while the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, are not your disciples fasting?" Jesus said to them, "Could the wedding guests fast while the Bridegroom is with them?" As long as they have the Bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. But the days will come when the Bridegroom will be taken from them; then on that day they will fast.

No one mends an old garment with a new piece of cloth; otherwise the new piece added pulls on the old fabric and the tear gets bigger. Or again, no one puts new wine in old wineskins; for then the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be lost. New wine, new wineskins. "

FIRST READING 

"Although he is the Son, he learned obedience through his sufferings" 

the letter to the Hebrews (5, 1-10) 

Every high priest is taken from among men; it is established to intervene on behalf of men in their relations with God; he must offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is capable of understanding towards those who commit faults out of ignorance or delusion, for he, too, is filled with weakness; and, because of this weakness, he must offer sacrifices for his own sins as for those of the people. We do not take this honor to ourselves, we are called by God, like Aaron.

It is just so with Christ: he did not give himself the glory of becoming high priest; he received it from God, who said to him: You are my Son, today I have begotten you, for he also said to him in another psalm: You are a priest of the order of Melkizedek for eternity.

During the days of his life in the flesh, he offered, with a loud cry and in tears, prayers and supplications to God who could save him from death, and it was answered because of his great respect. Although he is the Son, he learned obedience through his sufferings and, led to his perfection, he became for all those who obey him the cause of eternal salvation, for God proclaimed him high priest of the order. from Melkizedek.
