அக்காலத்தில்

எருசலேமிலிருந்து வந்திருந்த மறைநூல் அறிஞர், “இவனைப் பெயல்செபூல் பிடித்திருக்கிறது” என்றும் “பேய்களின் தலைவனைக் கொண்டே இவன் பேய்களை ஓட்டுகிறான்” என்றும் சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

ஆகவே இயேசு அவர்களைத் தம்மிடம் வரவழைத்து அவர்களுக்கு உவமைகள் வாயிலாகக் கூறியது: “சாத்தான் சாத்தானை எப்படி ஓட்ட முடியும்? தனக்கு எதிராகத் தானே பிளவுபடும் எந்த அரசும் நிலைத்து நிற்க முடியாது. தனக்கு எதிராகத் தானே பிளவுபடும் எந்த வீடும் நிலைத்து நிற்க முடியாது. சாத்தான் தன்னையே எதிர்த்து நின்று பிளவுபட்டுப் போனால் அவன் நிலைத்து நிற்க முடியாது. அதுவே அவனது அழிவு. முதலில் வலியவரைக் கட்டினாலன்றி அவ்வலியவருடைய வீட்டுக்குள் நுழைந்து அவருடைய பொருள்களை எவராலும் கொள்ளையிட முடியாது; அவரைக் கட்டி வைத்த பிறகுதான் அவருடைய வீட்டைக் கொள்ளையிட முடியும்.

உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன். தூய ஆவியாரைப் பழித்து உரைப்பவர் எவரும் எக்காலத்திலும் மன்னிப்புப் பெறார்; அவர் என்றென்றும் தீராத பாவத்திற்கு ஆளாவார். ஆனால் மக்களுடைய மற்றப் பாவங்கள், அவர்கள் கூறும் பழிப்புரைகள் அனைத்தும் அவர்களுக்கு மன்னிக்கப்படும்.” ‘இவனைத் தீய ஆவி பிடித்திருக்கிறது’ என்று தம்மைப்பற்றி அவர்கள் சொல்லி வந்ததால் இயேசு இவ்வாறு கூறினார்.

அந்நாள்களில்

இஸ்ரயேலின் அனைத்துக் குலங்களும் எபிரோனுக்கு வந்து தாவீதிடம் கூறியது: “நாங்கள் உம் எலும்பும் சதையுமானவர்கள். சவுல் எங்கள் மீது ஆட்சி செய்த கடந்த காலத்திலும் கூட நீரே இஸ்ரயேலை நடத்திச் சென்றவர். ‘நீயே என் மக்கள் இஸ்ரயேலின் ஆயனாக இருப்பாய்; நீயே இஸ்ரயேலுக்குத் தலைமை தாங்குவாய்’ என்று உமக்கே ஆண்டவர் கூறினார்.”

இஸ்ரயேலின் பெரியோர்கள் எல்லாரும் அரசரைக் காண எபிரோனுக்கு வந்தனர். அரசர் தாவீது எபிரோனில் ஆண்டவர் திருமுன் அவர்களோடு உடன்படிக்கை செய்து கொண்டார். இஸ்ரயேலின் அரசராக அவர்கள் தாவீதைத் திருப்பொழிவு செய்தனர்.

முப்பது வயதில் அரசரான தாவீது, நாற்பது ஆண்டுகள் ஆட்சி புரிந்தார். எபிரோனில் தங்கி யூதாவை ஏழு ஆண்டுகள் ஆறு மாதங்களும், பிறகு எருசலேமில் தங்கி அனைத்து இஸ்ரயேல்-யூதாவை முப்பத்து மூன்று ஆண்டுகளும் அவர் ஆட்சி புரிந்தார்.

அரசரும் அவருடைய ஆள்களும் அம்மண்ணின் மைந்தர் எபூசியருக்கு எதிராக எருசலேம் சென்றபோது, அவர்கள் தாவீதை நோக்கி, “நீர் இங்கே வர முடியாது; பார்வையற்றவரும் முடவரும்கூட உம்மை அப்புறப்படுத்தி விடுவார்கள்” - அதாவது “இங்கே தாவீது வர முடியாது” என்றனர்.

இருப்பினும், தாவீது சீயோன் கோட்டையைக் கைப்பற்றினார். அதுவே தாவீதின் நகர். தாவீது தொடர்ந்து வளர்ச்சி பெற்றார். படைகளின் கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவர் அவரோடு இருந்தார்.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Mark 3:22-30

The scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were saying, ‘Beelzebul is in him’ and, ‘It is through the prince of devils that he casts devils out.’ So he called them to him and spoke to them in parables, ‘How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot last. And if a household is divided against itself, that household can never stand. Now if Satan has rebelled against himself and is divided, he cannot stand either – it is the end of him. But no one can make his way into a strong man’s house and burgle his property unless he has tied up the strong man first. Only then can he burgle his house.

  ‘I tell you solemnly, all men’s sins will be forgiven, and all their blasphemies; but let anyone blaspheme against the Holy Spirit and he will never have forgiveness: he is guilty of an eternal sin.’ This was because they were saying, ‘An unclean spirit is in him.’

'You shall be shepherd of my people Israel'

A reading from the second book of  Samuel 5:1-7,10 

All the tribes of Israel then came to David at Hebron. ‘Look’ they said ‘we are your own flesh and blood. In days past when Saul was our king, it was you who led Israel in all their exploits; and the Lord said to you, “You are the man who shall be shepherd of my people Israel, you shall be the leader of Israel.”’ So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David made a pact with them at Hebron in the presence of the Lord, and they anointed David king of Israel.

David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned for forty years. He reigned in Hebron over Judah for seven years and six months; then he reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah for thirty-three years.

  David and his men marched on Jerusalem against the Jebusites living there. These said to David, ‘You will not get in here. The blind and the lame will hold you off.’ (That is to say: David will never get in here.) But David captured the fortress of Zion, that is, the Citadel of David.

  David grew greater and greater, and the Lord, the God of Hosts, was with him.
