ஆகஸ்ட் 6 :  நற்செய்தி வாசகம்

என் அன்பார்ந்த மைந்தர் இவரே.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு பேதுருவையும் யாக்கோபையும் யோவானையும் அழைத்து, ஓர் உயர்ந்த மலைக்கு அவர்களை மட்டும் தனிமையாகக் கூட்டிக் கொண்டு போனார். அங்கே அவர்கள்முன் அவர் தோற்றம் மாறினார். அவருடைய ஆடைகள் இவ்வுலகில் எந்தச் சலவைக்காரரும் வெளுக்க முடியாத அளவுக்கு வெள்ளை வெளேரென ஒளிவீசின.

அப்போது எலியாவும் மோசேயும் அவர்களுக்குத் தோன்றினர். இருவரும் இயேசுவோடு உரையாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

பேதுரு இயேசுவைப் பார்த்து, “ரபி, நாம் இங்கேயே இருப்பது நல்லது. உமக்கு ஒன்றும் மோசேக்கு ஒன்றும் எலியாவுக்கு ஒன்றுமாக மூன்று கூடாரங்களை அமைப்போம்” என்றார். தாம் சொல்வது என்னவென்று அவருக்குத் தெரியவில்லை. ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் மிகுந்த அச்சம் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

அப்போது ஒரு மேகம் வந்து அவர்கள் மேல் நிழலிட அந்த மேகத்தினின்று, “என் அன்பார்ந்த மைந்தர் இவரே; இவருக்குச் செவிசாயுங்கள்” என்று ஒரு குரல் ஒலித்தது. உடனடியாக அவர்கள் சுற்றுமுற்றும் பார்த்தார்கள். தங்கள் அருகில் இயேசு ஒருவரைத் தவிர வேறு எவரையும் காணவில்லை.

அவர்கள் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்துகொண்டிருந்த போது அவர், “மானிடமகன் இறந்து உயிர்த்தெழும் வரை, நீங்கள் கண்டதை எவருக்கும் எடுத்துரைக்கக் கூடாது” என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

நான் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், அரியணைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டன; தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் அங்கு அமர்ந்தார்; அவருடைய ஆடை வெண்பனி போலவும், அவரது தலைமுடி தூய பஞ்சு போலவும் இருந்தன; அவருடைய அரியணை தீக்கொழுந்துகளாயும் அதன் சக்கரங்கள் எரி நெருப்பாயும் இருந்தன. அவர் முன்னிலையிலிருந்து நெருப்பாலான ஓடை தோன்றிப் பாய்ந்தோடி வந்தது; பல்லாயிரம் பேர் அவருக்குப் பணி புரிந்தார்கள்; பல கோடிப் பேர் அவர்முன் நின்றார்கள்; நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பு வழங்க அமர்ந்தது; நூல்கள் திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டன.

இரவில் நான் கண்ட காட்சியாவது; வானத்தின் மேகங்களின் மீது மானிடமகனைப் போன்ற ஒருவர் தோன்றினார்; இதோ! தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் அருகில் அவர் வந்தார்; அவர் திருமுன் கொண்டுவரப்பட்டார். ஆட்சியுரிமையும் மாட்சியும் அரசும் அவருக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டன; எல்லா இனத்தாரும் நாட்டினரும் மொழியினரும் அவரை வழிபட வேண்டும்; அவரது ஆட்சியுரிமை என்றுமுளதாகும்; அதற்கு முடிவே இராது; அவரது அரசு அழிந்துபோகாது.

At that time

    Jesus took Peter, James, and John with him,

and led them alone up a high mountain.

And he was transfigured before them.

    His clothes became resplendent,

so white

that no one on earth can achieve such a whiteness.

    Elijah appeared to them with Moses,

and they were talking to Jesus.

    Peter then spoke up

and said to Jesus:

“Rabbi, it is good that we are here!

So let’s pitch three tents:

one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah. "

    In fact, Peter did not know what to say,

so their fear was great.

There arose a cloud which covered them with its shadow,

and from the cloud a voice was heard:

"This is my beloved Son:

listen to him!" "

    Suddenly, looking around,

they no longer saw Jesus only with them. 

    They came down from the mountain,

and Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone what they had seen,

until the Son of man

had risen from the dead.

    And they remained firmly attached to this word,

while wondering among themselves what it meant:

"to rise from the dead". 

    - Let us acclaim the Word of God.

Reading of the second letter of Saint Peter the Apostle 1, 16-19 

Beloved,

    it is not by resorting to sophisticated imaginary narratives

that we have made known to you the power and the coming

of our Lord Jesus Christ,

but it is by having been the eyewitnesses of his greatness.

    For he received honor and glory from God the Father

when, from the magnificent glory,

a voice came to him , saying:

This is my Son, my beloved;

in him I have all my joy.

    This voice coming from heaven,

we ourselves heard it

when we were with him on the holy mountain.

    And so the prophetic word is confirmed for us;

you do well to fix your attention on her,

as on a lamp shining in a dark place

until day

dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 

    - Word of the Lord.

"His coat was white as snow" 

Reading of the book of the prophet Daniel 7, 9-10.13-14 

At night, during a vision,

    I, Daniel, watched:

thrones were arranged,

and an Old Man took his place;

his coat was white as snow,

and the hair of his head like immaculate wool;

his throne was made of flames of fire,

with wheels of fiery fire.

    A river of fire flowed, which gushed before him.

Thousands of thousands served him,

myriads of myriads stood before him.

The tribunal took its place and books were opened. 

    I watched, during the visions of the night,

and I saw coming, with the clouds of the sky,

like a Son of man;

he came to the Old Man,

and they made him walk ahead of him.

    And he was given

rulership, and glory, and kingship;

all peoples, nations, and people of all languages

served him.

His rulership is eternal rulership,

which will not pass away,

and his kingship

a kingship that will not be destroyed. 

    - Word of the Lord.
