குருட்டு வழிகாட்டிகளே, ஐயோ! உங்களுக்குக் கேடு!

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு கூறியது: “வெளிவேடக்கார மறைநூல் அறிஞரே, பரிசேயரே, ஐயோ! உங்களுக்குக் கேடு! மக்கள் நுழையாதவாறு அவர்கள் முன்பாக விண்ணக வாயிலை அடைத்துவிடுகிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் நுழைவதில்லை, நுழைவோரையும் விடுவதில்லை.

வெளிவேடக்கார மறைநூல் அறிஞரே, பரிசேயரே, ஐயோ! உங்களுக்குக் கேடு! ஒருவரையாவது உங்கள் சமயத்தில் சேர்ப்பதற்கு, நாடு என்றும் கடல் என்றும் பாராது சுற்றி அலைகின்றீர்கள்; அவ்வாறு சேர்த்தபின் அவரை உங்களை விட இரு மடங்கு நரகத் தண்டனைக்கு ஆளாக்குகிறீர்கள்.

குருட்டு வழிகாட்டிகளே, ஐயோ! உங்களுக்குக் கேடு! யாராவது திருக்கோவிலின்மீது ஆணையிட்டால் ஒன்றுமில்லை; ஆனால் அவர் கோவிலின் பொன்மீது ஆணையிட்டால் அதை நிறைவேற்றக் கடமைப்பட்டவர் என்கிறீர்கள். குருட்டு மடையரே! எது சிறந்தது? பொன்னா? பொன்னைத் தூயதாக்கும் திருக்கோவிலா? யாராவது பலிபீடத்தின்மீது ஆணையிட்டால் ஒன்றுமில்லை; ஆனால் அவர் அதில் படைக்கப்பட்ட காணிக்கையின்மீது ஆணையிட்டால் அதை நிறைவேற்றக் கடமைப்பட்டவர் என்கிறீர்கள். குருடரே! எது சிறந்தது? காணிக்கையா? காணிக்கையைத் தூயதாக்கும் பலிபீடமா?

எனவே பலிபீடத்தின்மீது ஆணையிடுகிறவர் அதன்மீதும் அதன் மேலுள்ள அனைத்தின்மீதும் ஆணையிடுகிறார். திருக்கோவிலின்மீது ஆணையிடுகிறவர் அதன்மீதும் அதில் குடிகொண்டிருக்கிறவர்மீதும் ஆணையிடுகிறார். வானத்தின்மீது ஆணையிடுகிறவர் கடவுளின் அரியணைமீதும் அதில் வீற்றிருக்கிற கடவுள்மீதும் ஆணையிடுகிறார்.”

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே! உங்கள் பொருட்டுக் கடவுளுக்கு எப்பொழுதும் நன்றி செலுத்த நாங்கள் கடமைப்பட்டுள்ளோம். ஆம், அவ்வாறு செய்வது தகுதியே. ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் கொண்டுள்ள நம்பிக்கை ஓங்கி வளருகின்றது; நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் செலுத்தும் அன்பு பெருகி வழிகிறது. ஆகவேதான் நாங்கள் கடவுளின் சபைகளில் உங்களைக் குறித்துப் பெருமையாகப் பேசி வருகிறோம்; உங்கள் துன்பங்களுக்கிடையே நீங்கள் காட்டிய சகிப்புத்தன்மையையும் இன்னல்களுக்கு இடையே நீங்கள் கொண்டிருந்த மனவுறுதியையும் நம்பிக்கையையும் முன்னிட்டுப் பெருமைப்படுகிறோம். இவை, கடவுளின் தீர்ப்பு நீதியானது என்பதற்கு அறிகுறியாக அமைகின்றன. இவை அனத்தின் விளைவாக நீங்கள் இறையாட்சிக்குத் தகுதி உள்ளவர்கள் ஆவீர்கள். இந்த ஆட்சிக்காகவே நீங்கள் துன்புறுகிறீர்கள்.

நம் கடவுள் தாம் விடுத்த அழைப்புக்கு உங்களைத் தகுதியுள்ளவர் ஆக்குவாராக! உங்கள் நல்லெண்ணம் ஒவ்வொன்றையும், நம்பிக்கையால் தூண்டப்படும் ஒவ்வொரு செயலையும் தம் வல்லமையால் நிறைவுறச் செய்வாராக! இவ்வாறு நம் கடவுளும், ஆண்டவர் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவும் அளிக்கும் அருளுக்கேற்ப, உங்களால் நம் ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவின் பெயருக்கும், அவரால் உங்களுக்கும் மேன்மை உண்டாகுக!

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 23: 13-22 

Jesus said: ‘Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You who shut up the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces, neither going in yourselves nor allowing others to go in who want to.

  ‘Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You who travel over sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when you have him you make him twice as fit for hell as you are.

  ‘Alas for you, blind guides! You who say, “If a man swears by the Temple, it has no force; but if a man swears by the gold of the Temple, he is bound.” Fools and blind! For which is of greater worth, the gold or the Temple that makes the gold sacred? Or else, “If a man swears by the altar it has no force; but if a man swears by the offering that is on the altar, he is bound.” You blind men! For which is of greater worth, the offering or the altar that makes the offering sacred? Therefore, when a man swears by the altar he is swearing by that and by everything on it. And when a man swears by the Temple he is swearing by that and by the One who dwells in it. And when a man swears by heaven he is swearing by the throne of God and by the One who is seated there.’

We thank God for your faith and your love

A Reading from the Second Letter of St.Paul to Thessalonians 1:1-5,11-12 

From Paul, Silvanus and Timothy, to the Church in Thessalonika which is in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ; wishing you grace and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

  We feel we must be continually thanking God for you, brothers; quite rightly, because your faith is growing so wonderfully and the love that you have for one another never stops increasing; and among the churches of God we can take special pride in you for your constancy and faith under all the persecutions and troubles you have to bear. It all shows that God’s judgement is just, and the purpose of it is that you may be found worthy of the kingdom of God; it is for the sake of this that you are suffering now.

  Knowing this, we pray continually that our God will make you worthy of his call, and by his power fulfil all your desires for goodness and complete all that you have been doing through faith; because in this way the name of our Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified in you and you in him, by the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
