_Almighty God has done great things for me._

*🕯️A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 1:46-56*

And Mary said: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour; because he has looked upon the humiliation of his servant. Yes, from now onwards all generations will call me blessed, for the Almighty has done great things for me. Holy is his name, and his faithful love extends age after age to those who fear him. He has used the power of his arm, he has routed the arrogant of heart. He has pulled down princes from their thrones and raised high the lowly. He has filled the starving with good things, sent the rich away empty. He has come to the help of Israel his servant, mindful of his faithful love  -according to the promise he made to our ancestors -- of his mercy to Abraham and to his descendants for ever. Mary stayed with her some three months and then went home.

Hannah then prayed as follows: My heart exults in Yahweh, in my God is my strength lifted up, my mouth derides my foes, for I rejoice in your deliverance. 

The bow of the mighty has been broken but those who were tottering are now braced with strength.

The full fed are hiring themselves out for bread but the hungry need labour no more; the barren woman bears sevenfold but the mother of many is left desolate. 

Yahweh gives death and life, brings down to Sheol and draws up;

Yahweh makes poor and rich, he humbles and also exalts. 

He raises the poor from the dust, he lifts the needy from the dunghill to give them a place with princes, to assign them a seat of honour; for to Yahweh belong the pillars of the earth, on these he has poised the world.

When she had weaned him, she took him up with her, as well as a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour and a skin of wine, and took him into the temple of Yahweh at Shiloh; the child was very young. They sacrificed the bull and led the child to Eli. She said, 'If you please, my lord! As you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood beside you here, praying to Yahweh. This is the child for which I was praying, and Yahweh has granted me what I asked of him. Now I make him over to Yahweh for the whole of his life. He is made over to Yahweh.' They then worshipped Yahweh there.

மரியா கூறியது: ஆண்டவரை எனது உள்ளம் போற்றிப் பெருமைப்படுத்துகின்றது. என் மீட்பராம் கடவுளை நினைத்து எனது மனம் பேருவகை கொள்கின்றது. ஏனெனில் அவர் தம் அடிமையின் தாழ்நிலையைக் கண்ணோக்கினார். இதுமுதல் எல்லாத் தலைமுறையினரும் என்னைப் பேறுபெற்றவர் என்பர். ஏனெனில் வல்லவராம் கடவுள் எனக்கு அரும்பெரும் செயல்கள் செய்துள்ளார். தூயவர் என்பதே அவரது பெயர். அவருக்கு அஞ்சி நடப்போருக்குத் தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாய் அவர் இரக்கம் காட்டி வருகிறார். அவர் தம் தோள் வலிமையைக் காட்டியுள்ளார்; உள்ளத்தில் செருக்குடன் சிந்திப்போரைச் சிதறடித்து வருகிறார். வலியோரை அரியணையினின்று தூக்கி எறிந்துள்ளார்; தாழ்நிலையில் இருப்போரை உயர்த்துகிறார். பசித்தோரை நலன்களால் நிரப்பியுள்ளார்; செல்வரை வெறுங்கையராய் அனுப்பிவிடுகிறார். மூதாதையருக்கு உரைத்தபடியே அவர் ஆபிரகாமையும் அவர்தம் வழிமரபினரையும் என்றென்றும் இரக்கத்தோடு நினைவில் கொண்டுள்ளார்; தம் ஊழியராகிய இஸ்ரயேலுக்குத் துணையாக இருந்து வருகிறார்.'' 

மரியா ஏறக்குறைய மூன்று மாதம் எலிசபெத்தோடு தங்கியிருந்த பின்பு தம் வீடு திரும்பினார்.

ஆண்டவரை முன்னிட்டு என் இதயம் மகிழ்கின்றது!

ஆண்டவரில் என் ஆற்றல் உயர்கின்றது! என் வாய் என் எதிரிகளைப் பழிக்கின்றது!

ஏனெனில் நான் நீர் அளிக்கும் மீட்பில் களிப்படைகிறேன். -பல்லவி 

வலியோரின் வில்கள் உடைபடுகின்றன!

தடுமாறினோர் வலிமை பெறுகின்றனர்!

நிறைவுடன் வாழ்ந்தோர் கூலிக்கு உணவு பெறுகின்றனர்;

பசியுடன் இருந்தோர் பசி தீர்ந்தார் ஆகியுள்ளனர்!

மலடி எழுவரைப் பெற்றெடுத்துள்ளாள், பல புதல்வரைப் பெற்றவளோ, தனியள் ஆகின்றாள்! -பல்லவி 

ஆண்டவர் கொல்கிறார்; உயிரும் தருகின்றார்;

பாதாளத்தில் தள்ளுகின்றார்; உயர்த்துகின்றார்;

ஆண்டவர் ஏழையாக்குகின்றார்; செல்வராக்குகின்றார்;

தாழ்த்துகின்றார்; மேன்மைப்படுத்துகின்றார்! -பல்லவி

_சாமுவேலின் பிறப்புக்காக அவரது தாய் அன்னா நன்றி செலுத்துகிறார்_

*சாமுவேல் முதல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 24-28*

அந்நாள்களில் சாமுவேல் பால்குடி மறந்ததும், அன்னா அவனைத் தூக்கிக்கொண்டு மூன்று காளை, இருபது படி அளவுள்ள ஒரு மரக்கால் மாவு, ஒரு தோல் பை திராட்சை இரசம் ஆகியவற்றுடன் சீலோவிலிருந்து ஆண்டவரின் இல்லத்திற்கு வந்தார். அவன் இன்னும் சிறு பையனாகவே இருந்தான். அவர்கள் காளையைப் பலியிட்ட பின், பையனை ஏலியிடம் கொண்டு வந்தார்கள். பின் அவர் கூறியது: என் தலைவரே! உம் மீது ஆணை! என் தலைவரே! உம்முன் நின்று ஆண்டவரிடம் வேண்டிக்கொண்டிருந்த பெண் நானே. இப்பையனுக்காகவே நான் வேண்டிக்கொண்டேன். நான் ஆண்டவரிடம் விண்ணப்பித்த என் வேண்டுகோளை அவர் கேட்டருளினார். ஆகவே நான் அவனை ஆண்டவருக்கு அர்ப்பணிக்கிறேன். அவன் தன் வாழ்நாள் அனைத்தும் ஆண்டவருக்கே அர்ப்பணிக்கப்பட்டவன்.'' அங்கே அவர்கள் ஆண்டவரைத் தொழுதார்கள்.
