இயேசு பன்னிருவரையும் அனுப்பினார்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு பன்னிருவரையும் தம்மிடம் வரவழைத்து, அவர்களை இருவர் இருவராக அனுப்பத் தொடங்கினார். அவர்களுக்குத் தீய ஆவிகள் மீது அதிகாரமும் அளித்தார்.

மேலும், “பயணத்திற்குக் கைத்தடி தவிர உணவு, பை, இடைக்கச்சையில் செப்புக் காசு முதலிய வேறு எதையும் நீங்கள் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போக வேண்டாம். ஆனால் மிதியடி போட்டுக்கொள்ளலாம்; அணிந்திருக்கும் அங்கி ஒன்றே போதும்” என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

மேலும் அவர், “நீங்கள் எங்கேயாவது ஒரு வீட்டுக்குள் சென்றால், அங்கிருந்து புறப்படும்வரை அவ்வீட்டிலேயே தங்கியிருங்கள். உங்களை எந்த ஊராவது ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாமலோ உங்களுக்குச் செவிசாய்க்காமலோ போனால் அங்கிருந்து வெளியேறும்பொழுது, உங்கள் கால்களில் படிந்துள்ள தூசியை உதறிவிடுங்கள். இதுவே அவர்களுக்கு எதிரான சான்றாகும்” என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கூறினார்.

அப்படியே அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று மக்கள் மனம் மாறவேண்டும் என்று பறைசாற்றினார்கள்; பல பேய்களை ஓட்டினார்கள்; உடல் நலமற்றோர் பலரை எண்ணெய் பூசிக் குணப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

நீங்கள் வந்திருப்பதோ சீயோன் மலை, வாழும் கடவுளின் நகர்.

எபிரேயருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 12: 18-19, 21-24

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

நீங்கள் வந்து சேர்ந்திருப்பது தொட்டு உணரக்கூடிய, தீப்பற்றி எரிகின்ற, இருள் சூழ்ந்த, மந்தாரமான, சுழல் காற்று வீசுகின்ற சீனாய் மலை அல்ல. அங்கு எக்காளம் முழங்கிற்று; பேசும் குரலொன்று கேட்டது. அக்குரலைக் கேட்டவர்கள் அதற்குமேல் தங்களோடு அது ஒரு வார்த்தை கூடப் பேசவேண்டாம் என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள். “நான் அஞ்சி நடுங்குகிறேன்” என்று மோசேயே சொல்லும் அளவுக்கு அக்காட்சி அச்சம் விளைவித்தது.

ஆனால் நீங்கள் வந்து சேர்ந்திருக்கும் சீயோன் மலை, வாழும் கடவுளின் நகர்; விண்ணக எருசலேம். அதனைப் பல்லாயிரக்கணக்கான வானதூதர் சூழ்ந்துள்ளனர். விண்ணகத்தில் பெயர் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ள தலைப் பேறானவர்களின் திருச்சபை விழாக் கூட்டமென அங்கே கூடியுள்ளது. நிறைவு பெற்ற நேர்மையாளர்களோடு சேர்ந்து, அனைவருக்கும் நடுவரான கடவுள் முன்னிலையிலும், புதியதோர் உடன்படிக்கையின் இணைப்பாளராகிய இயேசுவின் முன்னிலையிலும் நிற்கிறீர்கள். ஆபேலின் இரத்தத்தைப் போலன்றிச் சிறந்த முறையில் குரலெழுப்பும் இயேசுவின் இரத்தத்தினால் தெளிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறீர்கள்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel accrding to St.Mark 6:7-13 

Jesus made a tour round the villages, teaching. Then he summoned the Twelve and began to send them out in pairs giving them authority over the unclean spirits. And he instructed them to take nothing for the journey except a staff – no bread, no haversack, no coppers for their purses. They were to wear sandals but, he added, ‘Do not take a spare tunic.’ And he said to them, ‘If you enter a house anywhere, stay there until you leave the district. And if any place does not welcome you and people refuse to listen to you, as you walk away shake off the dust from under your feet as a sign to them.’ So they set off to preach repentance; and they cast out many devils, and anointed many sick people with oil and cured them.

You have come to Mount Zion and the city of the living God

A reading from the letter to the Hebrews 12: 18-19, 21-24 

What you have come to is nothing known to the senses: not a blazing fire, or a gloom turning to total darkness, or a storm; or trumpeting thunder or the great voice speaking which made everyone that heard it beg that no more should be said to them. The whole scene was so terrible that Moses said: I am afraid, and was trembling with fright. But what you have come to is Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem where the millions of angels have gathered for the festival, with the whole Church in which everyone is a ‘first-born son’ and a citizen of heaven. You have come to God himself, the supreme Judge, and been placed with spirits of the saints who have been made perfect; and to Jesus, the mediator who brings a new covenant and a blood for purification which pleads more insistently than Abel’s.
