ஆயத்தமாய் இருங்கள். நீங்கள் நினையாத நேரத்தில் மானிடமகன் வருவார்.

அக்காலத்தில்

இயேசு தம் சீடரிடம் கூறியது: “விழிப்பாய் இருங்கள்; ஏனெனில் உங்கள் ஆண்டவர் எந்த நாளில் வருவார் என உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது. இரவில் எந்தக் காவல் வேளையில் திருடன் வருவான் என்று வீட்டு உரிமையாளருக்குத் தெரிந்திருந்தால் அவர் விழித்திருந்து தம் வீட்டில் கன்னமிட விடமாட்டார் என்பதை அறிவீர்கள். எனவே நீங்களும் ஆயத்தமாய் இருங்கள். ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் நினையாத நேரத்தில் மானிட மகன் வருவார்.

தம் வீட்டு வேலையாள்களுக்கு வேளாவேளை உணவு பரிமாறத் தலைவர் அமர்த்திய நம்பிக்கைக்கு உரியவரும் அறிவாளியுமான பணியாளர் யார்? தலைவர் வந்து பார்க்கும்போது தம் பணியைச் செய்துகொண்டிருப்பவரே அப்பணியாளர். அவர் பேறுபெற்றவர். அவரைத் தம் உடைமைகளுக்கெல்லாம் அதிகாரியாக அவர் அமர்த்துவார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

அப்பணியாள் பொல்லாதவனாய் இருந்தால், தன் தலைவர் வரக் காலந் தாழ்த்துவார் எனத் தம் உள்ளத்தில் சொல்லிக் கொண்டு, தன் உடன்பணியாளரை அடிக்கவும் குடிகாரருடன் உண்ணவும் குடிக்கவும் தொடங்குவான். அப்பணியாள் எதிர்பாராத நாளில், அறியாத நேரத்தில் அவனுடைய தலைவர் வருவார். அவர் அவனைக் கண்டந்துண்டமாய் வெட்டி வெளிவேடக்காரருக்கு உரிய இடத்திற்குத் தள்ளுவார். அங்கே அழுகையும் அங்கலாய்ப்பும் இருக்கும்.”

அன்பர்களே! எங்கள் இன்னல் இடுக்கண்கள் நடுவிலும் உங்களது நம்பிக்கையைக் கண்டு உங்களால் நாங்கள் ஆறுதல் அடைகிறோம். நீங்கள் ஆண்டவரோடு உள்ள உறவில் நிலைத்திருக்கிறீர்கள் என்று அறிந்ததும் எங்களுக்கு உயிர் வந்தது. நம் கடவுள் முன்னிலையில் உங்களால் நாங்கள் பெருமகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறோம். அதற்காக உங்கள் பொருட்டு எத்தகைய நன்றியை அவருக்குக் கைம்மாறாகக் காட்ட இயலும்? நாங்கள் உங்கள் முகத்தைக் காணவும், உங்கள் நம்பிக்கையில் குறைவாக உள்ளவற்றை நிறைவாக்கவும், அல்லும் பகலும் மிகுந்த ஆர்வமுடன் மன்றாடுகிறோம்.

இப்பொழுது நம் தந்தையாம் கடவுளும், நம் ஆண்டவராம் இயேசுவும் உங்களிடம் வருவதற்கான வழியை எங்களுக்குக் காட்டுவார்களாக! உங்கள்மீது நாங்கள் கொண்ட அன்பு வளர்ந்து பெருகுவதுபோல, நீங்கள் ஒருவர் ஒருவருக்காகவும் எல்லாருக்காகவும் கொண்டுள்ள அன்பையும் ஆண்டவர் வளர்த்துப் பெருகச் செய்வாராக! இவ்வாறு நம் ஆண்டவர் இயேசு தம்முடைய தூயோர் அனைவரோடும் வரும்பொழுது, நம் தந்தையாம் கடவுள் முன் நீங்கள் குற்றமின்றித் தூய்மையாக இருக்குமாறு அவர் உங்கள் உள்ளங்களை உறுதிப்படுத்துவாராக!

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Matthew 24:42-51.

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

  ‘What sort of servant, then, is faithful and wise enough for the master to place him over his household to give them their food at the proper time? Happy that servant if his master’s arrival finds him at this employment. I tell you solemnly, he will place him over everything he owns. But as for the dishonest servant who says to himself, “My master is taking his time,” and sets about beating his fellow servants and eating and drinking with drunkards, his master will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know. The master will cut him off and send him to the same fate as the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.’

Now we can breathe again, as you are still holding firm in the Lord.

A reading from the first letter of St.Paul to the Thessalonians 3:7-13 

Brothers, your faith has been a great comfort to us in the middle of our own troubles and sorrows; now we can breathe again, as you are still holding firm in the Lord. How can we thank God enough for you, for all the joy we feel before our God on your account? We are earnestly praying night and day to be able to see you face to face again and make up any shortcomings in your faith.

  May God our Father himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, make it easy for us to come to you. May the Lord be generous in increasing your love and make you love one another and the whole human race as much as we love you. And may he so confirm your hearts in holiness that you may be blameless in the sight of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus Christ comes with all his saints.
