_Response: I will sing forever of your mercies, O Lord._

1. I will sing forever of your mercies, O LORD; through all ages my mouth will 

proclaim your fidelity. I have declared your mercy is established forever; 

your fidelity stands firm as the heavens. R/

2. “With my chosen one I have made a covenant; I have sworn to David my 

servant: I will establish your descendants forever, and set up your throne 

through all ages.” R/

3. He will call out to me, You are my father, my God, the rock of my salvation.’

4. I will keep my faithful love for him always; with him my covenant shall 

last. R/

*A reading from the Second Book of Samuel (7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16)*

When King David lived in his house and the LORD had given him rest from 

all his surrounding enemies, the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, 

I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells in a tent.” And Nathan 

said to the king, “Go, do all that is in your heart, for the LORD is with you.” 

But that same night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, “Go and tell my 

servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD: would you build me a house to dwell 

in? Thus, says the LORD of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following 

the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel. And I have been 

with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before 

you. And I will make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones of 

the earth. And I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, 

so that they may dwell in their own place and be disturbed no more. And 

violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly, from the time that I 

appointed judges over my people Israel. And I will give you rest from all your

enemies. Moreover, the LORD declares to you that the Lord will make you a 

house. When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I 

will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I 

will establish his kingdom. I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a 

son. And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before 

me. Your throne shall be established forever.’”

_கடவுளின் அருளைக் கண்டடைந்துள்ளீர். இதோ, கருவுற்று ஒரு மகனைப் பெறுவீர்;_

*🕯️லூக்கா எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 26-38* 

ஆறாம் மாதத்தில் கபிரியேல் என்னும் வானதூதரைக் கடவுள் கலிலேயாவிலுள்ள நாசரேத்து என்னும் ஊரிலிருந்த ஒரு கன்னியிடம் அனுப்பினார். அவர் தாவீது குடும்பத்தினராகிய யோசேப்பு என்னும் பெயருடைய ஒருவருக்கு மண ஒப்பந்தமானவர். அவர் பெயர் மரியா. 

வானதூதர் மரியாவுக்குத் தோன்றி, “அருள்மிகப் பெற்றவரே வாழ்க! ஆண்டவர் உம்மோடு இருக்கிறார்” என்றார். இவ்வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு அவர் கலங்கி, இந்த வாழ்த்து எத்தகையதோ என்று எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். 

வானதூதர் அவரைப் பார்த்து, “மரியா, அஞ்சவேண்டாம்; கடவுளின் அருளைக் கண்டடைந்துள்ளீர். இதோ, கருவுற்று ஒரு மகனைப் பெறுவீர்; அவருக்கு இயேசு என்னும் பெயரிடுவீர். அவர் பெரியவராயிருப்பார்; உன்னத கடவுளின் மகன் எனப்படுவார். அவருடைய தந்தை தாவீதின் அரியணையை ஆண்டவராகிய கடவுள் அவருக்கு அளிப்பார். அவர் யாக்கோபின் குடும்பத்தின் மீது என்றென்றும் ஆட்சி செலுத்துவார். அவருடைய ஆட்சிக்கு முடிவே இராது” என்றார். 

அதற்கு மரியா வானதூதரிடம், “இது எப்படி நிகழும்? நான் கன்னி ஆயிற்றே!” என்றார். வானதூதர் அவரிடம், “தூய ஆவி உம்மீது வரும். உன்னத கடவுளின் வல்லமை உம்மேல் நிழலிடும். ஆதலால் உம்மிடம் பிறக்கப் போகும் குழந்தை தூயது. அக்குழந்தை இறைமகன் எனப்படும். உம் உறவினராகிய எலிசபெத்தும் தம் முதிர்ந்த வயதில் ஒரு மகனைக் கருத்தரித்திருக்கிறார். கருவுற இயலாதவர் என்று சொல்லப்பட்ட அவருக்கு இது ஆறாம் மாதம். ஏனெனில், கடவுளால் இயலாதது ஒன்றுமில்லை” என்றார். 

பின்னர் மரியா, “நான் ஆண்டவரின் அடிமை; உம்சொற்படியே எனக்கு நிகழட்டும்” என்றார். அப்பொழுது வானதூதர் அவரை விட்டு அகன்றார். 

*ஆண்டவரின் அருள்வாக்கு.*

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, 

இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றி நான் பறைசாற்றும் நற்செய்திக்கு ஏற்ப வாழக் கடவுள் உங்களை உறுதிப்படுத்த வல்லவர். ஊழி காலமாக மறைபொருளாக இருந்த இந்த நற்செய்தி இப்பொழுது வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

இறைவாக்கினர் வாயிலாக இது நமக்குத் தெளிவாகியுள்ளது. என்றும் வாழும் கடவுளின் கட்டளைப்படி எல்லா மக்களினங்களுக்கும் அது தெரிய வந்துள்ளது. இதனால் அவர்கள் நற்செய்தியைக் கேட்டு நம்பிக்கை கொள்வர். ஞானமே உருவாகிய கடவுள் ஒருவருக்கே இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் வழியாய் என்றென்றும் மாட்சி உரித்தாகுக! ஆமென்.

1 ஆண்டவரின் பேரன்பைப்பற்றி நான் என்றும் பாடுவேன்; நீர் உண்மையுள்ளவர் எனத் தலைமுறைதோறும் என் நாவால் அறிவிப்பேன். 2 உமது பேரன்பு என்றென்றும் நிலைத்துள்ளது என்று அறிவிப்பேன்; உமது உண்மை வானைப்போல் உறுதியானது. - பல்லவி

தாவீது அரசர் தம் அரண்மனையில் குடியேறியபின், சுற்றியிருந்த எல்லா எதிரிகளின் தொல்லையினின்றும் ஆண்டவர் அவருக்கு ஓய்வு அளித்தார். அப்போது இறைவாக்கினர் நாத்தானைத் தாவீது அழைத்து, “பாரும், நான் கேதுரு மரங்களாலான அரண்மனையில் வாழ்கிறேன். கடவுளின் பேழையோ கூடாரத்தில் குடியிருக்கிறது” என்று கூறினார். 

அதற்கு நாத்தான், நீர் விரும்பியது அனைத்தையும் செய்துவிடும்; ஏனெனில் ஆண்டவர் உம்மோடு இருக்கிறார்” என்று அரசரிடம் சொன்னார். அன்று இரவே ஆண்டவரின் வார்த்தை நாத்தானுக்கு அருளப்பட்டது: “நீ சென்று, என் ஊழியன் தாவீதிடம் ஆண்டவர் இவ்வாறு கூறுவதாகச் சொல்: 

நான் தங்குவதற்காக எனக்கு ஒரு கோவில் கட்டப்போகிறாயா? என் மக்கள் இஸ்ரயேலின் தலைவனாக விளங்க புல்வெளியில் ஆடுமேய்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த உன்னை நான் அழைத்தேன். நீ சென்றவிடமெல்லாம் நான் உன்னோடு இருந்தேன்; உன் கண்முன் உன் எதிரிகள் அனைவரையும் அழித்தேன்; மேலும் உலகில் வாழும் பெரும் மனிதர்போல் நீ புகழுறச் செய்தேன். எனது மக்களாகிய இஸ்ரயேலுக்கு ஓர் இடத்தை அளிப்பேன்; அவர்கள் அந்த இடத்திலேயே நிலைத்துவாழச் செய்வேன். என் மக்களாகிய இஸ்ரயேல்மீது நீதித் தலைவர்களை ஏற்படுத்திய நாள்களாகிய தொடக்க காலத்தில் தீயவர்களால் அவர்கள் ஒடுக்கப்பட்டதுபோல இனியும் அவர்கள் அலைக்கழிக்கப்பட மாட்டார்கள். அனைவரின் தொல்லைகளினின்றும் உனக்கு ஓய்வு அளிப்பேன். மேலும், ஆண்டவர்தாமே உன் வீட்டைக் கட்டப்போவதாக அவர் உனக்கு அறிவிக்கிறார்.

In the days of King Herod of Judaea there lived a priest called Zechariah who belonged to the Abijah section of the priesthood, and he had a wife, Elizabeth by name, who was a descendant of Aaron.

Both were upright in the sight of God and impeccably carried out all the commandments and observances of the Lord.

But they were childless: Elizabeth was barren and they were both advanced in years.

Now it happened that it was the turn of his section to serve, and he was exercising his priestly office before God

when it fell to him by lot, as the priestly custom was, to enter the Lord's sanctuary and burn incense there.

And at the hour of incense all the people were outside, praying.

Then there appeared to him the angel of the Lord, standing on the right of the altar of incense.

The sight disturbed Zechariah and he was overcome with fear.

But the angel said to him, 'Zechariah, do not be afraid, for your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth is to bear you a son and you shall name him John.

He will be your joy and delight and many will rejoice at his birth,

for he will be great in the sight of the Lord; he must drink no wine, no strong drink; even from his mother's womb he will be filled with the Holy Spirit,

and he will bring back many of the Israelites to the Lord their God.

With the spirit and power of Elijah, he will go before him to reconcile fathers to their children and the disobedient to the good sense of the upright, preparing for the Lord a people fit for him.'

Zechariah said to the angel, 'How can I know this? I am an old man and my wife is getting on in years.'

The angel replied, 'I am Gabriel, who stand in God's presence, and I have been sent to speak to you and bring you this good news.

Look! Since you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time, you will be silenced and have no power of speech until this has happened.'

Meanwhile the people were waiting for Zechariah and were surprised that he stayed in the sanctuary so long.

When he came out he could not speak to them, and they realised that he had seen a vision in the sanctuary. But he could only make signs to them and remained dumb.

When his time of service came to an end he returned home.

Some time later his wife Elizabeth conceived and for five months she kept to herself, saying,

'The Lord has done this for me, now that it has pleased him to take away the humiliation I suffered in public.' 

The Gospel of the Lord.
