லூக்கா எழுதிய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 12:13-21

அக்காலத்தில் கூட்டத்திலிருந்து ஒருவர் இயேசுவிடம், "போதகரே, சொத்தை என்னோடு பங்கிட்டுக்கொள்ளுமாறு என் சகோதரருக்குச் சொல்லும் " என்றார். அவர் அந்த ஆளை நோக்கி, "என்னை உங்களுக்கு நடுவராகவோ பாகம் பிரிப்பவராகவோ அமர்த்தியவர் யார்? " என்று கேட்டார். பின்பு அவர் அவர்களை நோக்கி, "எவ்வகைப் பேராசைக்கும் இடங்கொடாதவாறு எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள். மிகுதியான உடைமைகளைக் கொண்டிருப்பதால் ஒருவருக்கு வாழ்வு வந்துவிடாது " என்றார். அவர்களுக்கு அவர் ஓர் உவமையைச் சொன்னார்: "செல்வனாயிருந்த ஒருவனுடைய நிலம் நன்றாய் விளைந்தது. அவன், "நான் என்ன செய்வேன்? என் விளை பொருள்களைச் சேர்த்து வைக்க இடமில்லையே! " என்று எண்ணினான். சகோதர சகோதரிகளே! நீங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவோடு உயிர் பெற்று எழுந்தவாகளானால் மேலுலகு சார்ந்தவற்றை நாடுங்கள். அங்குக் கிறிஸ்து கடவுளின் வலப்பக்கத்தில் அமர்ந்திருக்கிறார். இவ்வுலகு சார்ந்தவை பற்றி அல்ல, மேலுலகு சார்ந்தவை பற்றியே எண்ணுங்கள்.ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவோடு இறந்துவிட்டீர்கள். உங்கள் வாழ்வு அவரோடு இணைந்து கடவுளிடம் மறைந்து இருக்கிறது. கிறிஸ்துவே உங்களுக்கு வாழ்வு அளிப்பவர். அவர் தோன்றும் பொழுது நீங்களும் அவரோடு மாட்சி பொருந்தியவராய்த் தோன்றுவீர்கள். ஆகவே உலகப்போக்கிலான உங்கள் இயல்புக்குரிய பரத்தைமை, ஒழுக்கக்கேடு, கட்டுக்கடங்காத பாலுணர்வு, தீய நாட்டம், சிலைவழிபாடான பேராசை ஆகியவற்றை ஒழித்துவிடுங்கள். ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் பொய் பேசாதீர்கள். ஏனெனில் நீங்கள் பழைய மனித இயல்பையும் அதற்குரிய செயல்களையும் களைந்துவிட்டு, புதிய மனித இயல்பை அணிந்திருக்கிறீர்கள். அவ்வியல்பு தன்னை உண்டாக்கினவரின் சாயலுக்கேற்பப் புதுப்பிக்கப்படுகிறது. இவ்வாறு நீங்கள் கடவுளை முழுமையாய் அறிய முடியும். புதப்பிக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில் கிரேக்கர் என்றும், யூதர் என்றும், விருத்தசேதனம் பெற்றவர் என்றும், விருத்தசேதனம் பெறாதவர் என்றும், நாகரிகம் அற்றோர் என்றும், சீத்தியர் என்றும், அடிமை என்றும், உரிமைக் குடிமக்கள் என்றும் வேறுபாடில்லை. கிறிஸ்துவே அனைவருள்ளும் அனைத்துமாயிருப்பார்."

Ecclesiastes 1:2, 2:21-23 

Vanity of vanities, the Preacher says. Vanity of vanities. All is vanity!

  For so it is that a man who has laboured wisely, skilfully and successfully must leave what is his own to someone who has not toiled for it at all. This, too, is vanity and great injustice; for what does he gain for all the toil and strain that he has undergone under the sun? What of all his laborious days, his cares of office, his restless nights? This, too, is vanity.
