"Those who had dispersed proclaimed the Good News of the Word wherever they passed" 

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (8, 1b-8) 

On the day of Stephen's death, violent persecution broke out against the Church in Jerusalem. All of them were dispersed throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria, except for the Apostles. Religious men buried Stephen and celebrated a great mourning for him. As for Saul, he was ravaging the Church, he entered the houses, to tear off men and women, and throw them in prison.

Those who had dispersed proclaimed the Good News of the Word wherever they passed. So Philip, one of the Seven, came to a town in Samaria, and there he was proclaiming Christ. The crowds, with one heart, attached themselves to what Philippe said, for they heard about the signs he was performing, or even saw them. Many of the possessed were delivered from the unclean spirits, who came out with loud cries. Many paralyzed and lame were healed. And there was great joy in that city.

அக்காலத்தில்

மக்கள் இயேசுவிடம், “நாங்கள் கண்டு உம்மை நம்பும் வகையில் நீர் என்ன அரும் அடையாளம் காட்டுகிறீர்? அதற்காக என்ன அரும் செயல் செய்கிறீர்? எங்கள் முன்னோர் பாலை நிலத்தில் மன்னாவை உண்டனரே! ‘அவர்கள் உண்பதற்கு வானிலிருந்து உணவு அருளினார்’ என்று மறைநூலிலும் எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது அல்லவா!” என்றனர்.

இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்: வானிலிருந்து உங்களுக்கு உணவு அருளியவர் மோசே அல்ல; வானிலிருந்து உங்களுக்கு உண்மையான உணவு அருள்பவர் என் தந்தையே. கடவுள் தரும் உணவு வானிலிருந்து இறங்கி வந்து உலகுக்கு வாழ்வு அளிக்கிறது” என்றார்.

அவர்கள், “ஐயா, இவ்வுணவை எங்களுக்கு எப்போதும் தாரும்” என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்கள். இயேசு அவர்களிடம், “வாழ்வு தரும் உணவு நானே. என்னிடம் வருபவருக்குப் பசியே இராது; என்னிடம் நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருப்பவருக்கு என்றுமே தாகம் இராது” என்றார்.

அந்நாள்களில்

ஸ்தேவான் மக்களையும் மூப்பரையும் மறைநூல் அறிஞரையும் நோக்கிக் கூறியது: “திமிர் பிடித்தவர்களே, இறைவார்த்தையைக் கேட்க மறுக்கும் செவியும் ஏற்க மறுக்கும் உள்ளமும் கொண்டவர்களே, உங்களுடைய மூதாதையரைப் போல நீங்களும் தூய ஆவியாரை எப்போதும் எதிர்க்கிறீர்கள். எந்த இறைவாக்கினரைத்தான் உங்கள் மூதாதையர் துன்புறுத்தாமல் இருந்தார்கள்? நேர்மையாளருடைய வருகையை முன்னறிவித்தோரையும் அவர்கள் கொலை செய்தார்கள். இப்போது நீங்கள் இயேசுவைக் காட்டிக் கொடுத்துக் கொன்றுவிட்டீர்கள். கடவுளின் தூதர்கள் வழியாய்த் தரப்பட்ட திருச்சட்டத்தை நீங்கள் பெற்றிருந்தும் அதனைக் கடைப்பிடிக்கவில்லை.”

இவற்றைக் கேட்டவர்கள் உள்ளம் கொதித்தெழுந்து, அவரைப் பார்த்துப் பற்களை நறநறவெனக் கடித்தார்கள். அவரோ தூய ஆவியின் வல்லமையை நிறைவாய்ப் பெற்று, வானத்தை உற்றுநோக்கினார். அப்போது கடவுளின் மாட்சியையும் அவர் வலப்பக்கத்தில் இயேசு நிற்பதையும் கண்டு, “இதோ, வானம் திறந்திருப்பதையும், மானிட மகன் கடவுளது வலப்பக்கத்தில் நிற்பதையும் காண்கிறேன்” என்று கூறினார். ஆனால் அவர்கள் தங்கள் செவிகளை அடைத்துக்கொண்டு, பெருங் கூச்சலிட்டு, ஒருமிக்க அவர் மேல் பாய்ந்தார்கள். நகரத்திற்கு வெளியே இழுத்துக் கொண்டுபோய் அவர்மேல் கல்லெறிந்தார்கள். சாட்சிகள் தங்கள் மேலுடைகளைச் சவுல் எனும் இளைஞரிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார்கள். அவர்கள் ஸ்தேவான்மீது கல்லெறிந்தபோது அவர், “ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவே, எனது ஆவியை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்” என்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டார். பின்பு முழந்தாள்படியிட்டு, உரத்த குரலில், “ஆண்டவரே, இந்தப் பாவத்தை இவர்கள்மேல் சுமத்தாதேயும்” என்று சொல்லி உயிர்விட்டார்.

ஸ்தேவானைக் கொலை செய்வதற்குச் சவுலும் உடன்பட்டிருந்தார்.

At that time, the crowd said to Jesus, "What sign will you perform that we can see it, and believe you?" What work are you going to do? In the desert, our fathers ate the manna; as the Scriptures say: He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Jesus answered them: "Amen, amen, I say to you: it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. "They said to him then:" Lord, always give us of this bread. "Jesus answered them:" I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry; whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. "

A Reading from the book of Acts of the Apostles (7, 51 - 8, 1a) 

In those days, Stephen said to the people, to the elders and to the scribes: “You who have a stiff neck, you whose hearts and ears are closed to the Covenant, you have always resisted the Holy Spirit; you are just like your fathers! Is there a prophet your fathers did not persecute? They even killed those who announced in advance the coming of the Just One, the one you have now delivered and murdered. You who had received the law by order of the angels, you did not keep it. Those who listened to this speech had an exasperated heart and gritted their teeth against Etienne. But he, filled with the Holy Spirit, stared at the sky: he saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. He said: “Behold, I behold the heavens open and the Son of man standing at the right hand of God. So they cried out loudly and covered their ears.
