His sovereignty will be an eternal sovereignty.

A Reading from the Book of Daniel 7: 15-27. 

I, Daniel, was deeply disturbed and the visions that passed through my head alarmed me. So I approached one of those who were standing by and asked him to tell me the truth about all this. And in reply he revealed to me what these things meant. “These four great beasts are four kings who will rise from the earth. Those who are granted sovereignty are the saints of the Most High, and the kingdom will be theirs for ever, for ever and ever.” Then I asked to know the truth about the fourth beast, different from all the rest, very terrifying, with iron teeth and bronze claws, eating, crushing and trampling underfoot what remained; and the truth about the ten horns on its head – and why the other horn sprouted and the three original horns fell, and why this horn had eyes and a mouth that was full of boasts, and why it made a greater show than the other horns. This was the horn I had watched making war on the saints and proving the stronger, until the coming of the one of great age who gave judgement in favour of the saints of the Most High, when the time came for the saints to take over the kingdom. This is what he said:

‘The fourth beast

is to be a fourth kingdom on earth,

different from all other kingdoms.

It will devour the whole earth,

trample it underfoot and crush it.

As for the ten horns: from this kingdom

will rise ten kings, and another after them;

this one will be different from the previous ones

and will bring down three kings;

he is going to speak words against the Most High,

and harass the saints of the Most High.

He will consider changing seasons and the Law,

and the saints will be put into his power

for a time, two times, and half a time.

But a court will be held and his power will be stripped from him,

consumed, and utterly destroyed.

And sovereignty and kingship,

and the splendours of all the kingdoms under heaven

will be given to the people of the saints of the Most High.

His sovereignty is an eternal sovereignty

and every empire will serve and obey him.’

இயேசு ஓர் உவமை சொன்னார்: “அத்தி மரத்தையும் வேறு எந்த மரத்தையும் பாருங்கள். அவை தளிர்விடும்போது அதைப் பார்க்கும் நீங்களே கோடைக் காலம் நெருங்கிவிட்டது என அறிந்துகொள்கிறீர்கள். அவ்வாறே இவை நிகழ்வதைக் காணும்போது இறையாட்சி நெருங்கி வந்துவிட்டது என்பதை நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள். அனைத்தும் நிகழும்வரை இத்தலைமுறை ஒழிந்து போகாது என நான் உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்.

விண்ணும் மண்ணும் ஒழிந்துபோகும். ஆனால் என் வார்த்தைகள் ஒழியவேமாட்டா.”

வானத்தின் மேகங்களின்மீது மானிடமகனைப்போன்ற ஒருவர் தோன்றினார்.

இறைவாக்கினர் தானியேல் நூலிலிருந்து வாசகம் 7: 2-14

இரவில் நான் கண்ட காட்சியில் வானத்தின் நான்கு திசைக் காற்றுகளும் பெருங்கடலைக் கொந்தளிக்கச் செய்தன. அப்பொழுது நான்கு பெரிய விலங்குகள் கடலினின்று மேலெழும்பின. அவை வெவ்வேறு உருவம் கொண்டவை. அவற்றுள் முதலாவது கழுகின் இறக்கைகளை உடைய சிங்கத்தைப் போல் இருந்தது. நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அதன் இறக்கைகள் பிடுங்கப்பட்டன; அது தரையினின்று தூக்கப்பட்டு மனிதனைப் போல் இரண்டு கால்களில் நின்றது; அதற்கு மனித இதயமும் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

அடுத்து, வேறொரு இரண்டாம் விலங்கைக் கண்டேன். கரடியைப் போன்ற அந்த விலங்கு பின்னங்கால்களை ஊன்றி எழுந்து நின்றது; தன் மூன்று விலா எலும்புகளைத் தன் வாயின் பற்களுக்கு இடையில் கவ்விக்கொண்டிருந்தது. ‘எழுந்திரு, ஏராளமான இறைச்சியை விழுங்கு’ என்று அதற்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. இன்னும் நோக்குகையில், வேங்கை போன்ற வேறொரு விலங்கு காணப்பட்டது. அதன் முதுகில் பறவையின் இறக்கைகள் நான்கு இருந்தன; அந்த விலங்குக்கு நான்கு தலைகள் இருந்தன; அதற்கும் ஆளும் உரிமை கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.

இவற்றுக்குப் பிறகு, இரவின் காட்சியில் கண்ட நான்காம் விலங்கு, அஞ்சி நடுங்கவைக்கும் தோற்றமும் மிகுந்த வலிமையும் கொண்டதாய் இருந்தது. அதற்குப் பெரிய இரும்புப் பற்கள் இருந்தன. அது தூள் தூளாக நொறுக்கி விழுங்கியது; எஞ்சியதைக் கால்களால் மிதித்துப் போட்டது. இதற்குமுன் நான் கண்ட விலங்குகளுக்கு இது மாறுபட்டது. இதற்குப் பத்துக் கொம்புகள் இருந்தன. அந்தக் கொம்புகளை நான் கவனித்துப் பார்க்கையில், அவற்றின் நடுவில் வேறொரு சிறிய கொம்பு முளைத்தது; அதற்கு இடமளிக்கும் வகையில், முன்னைய கொம்புகளுள் மூன்று வேரோடு பிடுங்கப்பட்டன; அந்தக் கொம்பில் மனிதக் கண்களைப் போலக் கண்களும் பெருமை பேசும் வாயும் இருந்தன.

நான் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கையில், அரியணைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டன; தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் அங்கு அமர்ந்தார்; அவருடைய ஆடை வெண்பனி போலவும், அவரது தலைமுடி தூய பஞ்சு போலவும் இருந்தன; அவருடைய அரியணை தீக்கொழுந்துகளாயும் அதன் சக்கரங்கள் எரிநெருப்பாயும் இருந்தன. அவர் முன்னிலையிலிருந்து நெருப்பாலான ஓடை தோன்றிப் பாய்ந்தோடி வந்தது; பல்லாயிரம் பேர் அவருக்குப் பணி புரிந்தார்கள்; பல கோடிப் பேர் அவர்முன் நின்றார்கள்; நீதிமன்றம் தீர்ப்பு வழங்க அமர்ந்தது; நூல்கள் திறந்து வைக்கப்பட்டன. அந்தக் கொம்பு பேசின பெருமைமிக்க சொற்களை முன்னிட்டு நான் அதைக் கவனித்துப் பார்த்தேன். அப்படிப் பார்க்கையில், அந்த விலங்கு கொல்லப்பட்டது; அதன் உடல் சிதைக்கப்பட்டு நெருப்பிற்கு இரையாக்கப்பட்டது. மற்ற விலங்குகளிடமிருந்து அவற்றின் ஆட்சியுரிமை பறிக்கப்பட்டது; ஆயினும் அவற்றின் வாழ்நாள் குறிப்பிட்ட கால நேரம்வரை நீட்டிக்கப்பட்டது.

இரவில் நான் கண்ட காட்சியாவது: வானத்தின் மேகங்களின்மீது மானிட மகனைப் போன்ற ஒருவர் தோன்றினார்; இதோ! தொன்மை வாய்ந்தவர் அருகில் அவர் வந்தார்; அவர் திருமுன் கொண்டு வரப்பட்டார். ஆட்சியுரிமையும் மாட்சியும் அரசும் அவருக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டன; எல்லா இனத்தாரும் நாட்டினரும் மொழியினரும் அவரை வழிபடவேண்டும்; அவரது ஆட்சியுரிமை என்றுமுளதாகும்; அதற்கு முடிவே இராது; அவரது அரசு அழிந்து போகாது.

Jesus told his disciples a parable: ‘Think of the fig tree and indeed every tree. As soon as you see them bud, you know that summer is now near. So with you when you see these things happening: know that the kingdom of God is near. I tell you solemnly, before this generation has passed away all will have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.’
