Psalm 91(92):2-3,13-16 

It is good to give you thanks, O Lord.

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,

  to make music to your name, O Most High,

to proclaim your love in the morning

  and your truth in the watches of the night.

It is good to give you thanks, O Lord.

The just will flourish like the palm tree

  and grow like a Lebanon cedar.

It is good to give you thanks, O Lord.

Planted in the house of the Lord

  they will flourish in the courts of our God,

still bearing fruit when they are old,

  still full of sap, still green,

to proclaim that the Lord is just.

  In him, my rock, there is no wrong.

It is good to give you thanks, O Lord.

The test of a man is in his conversation

Ecclesiasticus 27:5-8 

In a shaken sieve the rubbish is left behind,

  so too the defects of a man appear in his talk.

The kiln tests the work of the potter,

  the test of a man is in his conversation.

The orchard where a tree grows is judged on the quality of its fruit,

  similarly a man’s words betray what he feels.

Do not praise a man before he has spoken,

  since this is the test of men.

The Word of the Lord.

அக்காலத்தில்

சிறு பிள்ளைகளை இயேசு தொடவேண்டுமென்று அவர்களைச் சிலர் அவரிடம் கொண்டு வந்தனர். சீடரோ அவர்களை அதட்டினர். இயேசு இதைக் கண்டு, கோபம் கொண்டு, “சிறு பிள்ளைகளை என்னிடம் வரவிடுங்கள். அவர்களைத் தடுக்காதீர்கள். ஏனெனில் இறையாட்சி இத்தகையோருக்கே உரியது. இறையாட்சியைச் சிறு பிள்ளையைப்போல் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாதோர் அதற்கு உட்பட மாட்டார் என உறுதியாக உங்களுக்குச் சொல்கிறேன்” என்றார். பிறகு அவர் அவர்களை அரவணைத்து, தம் கைகளை அவர்கள்மீது வைத்து ஆசி வழங்கினார்.

ஆண்டவரே! நான் உம்மை நோக்கிக் கதறுகின்றேன்; விரைவாய் எனக்குத் துணைசெய்யும். உம்மை நோக்கி நான் வேண்டுதல் செய்யும்போது என் குரலுக்குச் செவிசாய்த்தருளும்.

திருத்தூதர் யாக்கோபு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 5: 13-20

உங்களுள் யாரேனும் துன்புற்றால் இறைவேண்டல் செய்யட்டும்; மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருந்தால் திருப்பாடல்களை இசைக்கட்டும். உங்களுள் யாரேனும் நோயுற்றிருந்தால், திருச்சபையின் மூப்பர்களை அழைத்து வாருங்கள். அவர்கள் ஆண்டவரது பெயரால் அவர்மீது எண்ணெய் பூசி இறைவனிடம் வேண்டுவார்கள். நம்பிக்கையோடு இறைவனிடம் வேண்டும்போது நோயுற்றவர் குணமாவார். ஆண்டவர் அவரை எழுப்பிவிடுவார். அவர் பாவம் செய்திருந்தால் மன்னிப்புப் பெறுவார். ஆகவே ஒருவருக்கொருவர் பாவங்களை அறிக்கை செய்துகொள்ளுங்கள். ஒருவர் மற்றவருக்காக இறைவனிடம் வேண்டுங்கள். அப்பொழுது குணமடைவீர்கள். நேர்மையாளருடைய வல்லமைமிக்க மன்றாட்டு பயன் விளைவிக்கும். எலியா நம்மைப் போன்ற எளிமையான மனிதர்தாம். அவர் மழை பெய்யக் கூடாது என்று உருக்கமாக இறைவனிடம் வேண்டினார்; மூன்று ஆண்டு ஆறு மாதம் மழையில்லாது போயிற்று. மீண்டும் அவர் இறைவனிடம் வேண்டினார்; வானம் பொழிந்தது, நிலம் விளைந்தது.

என் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே, உங்களுள் ஒருவர் உண்மையை விட்டு நெறி தவறி அலையும்போது, வேறொருவர் அவரை மனந்திரும்பச் செய்தால், தவறான நெறியிலிருந்து மனந்திருப்புகிறவர் அவரை அழிவிலிருந்து மீட்பார் என்பதையும் திரளான பாவங்களைப் போக்குவார் என்பதையும் தெரிந்துகொள்ளுங்கள்.

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Mark 10: 13-16 

People were bringing little children to Jesus, for him to touch them. The disciples turned them away, but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. I tell you solemnly, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’ Then he put his arms round them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.
