Happy are those who are invited to the wedding-feast of the Lamb.

  Serve the Lord with gladness.

  Come before him, singing for joy.

Happy are those who are invited to the wedding-feast of the Lamb.

Know that he, the Lord, is God.

  He made us, we belong to him,

  we are his people, the sheep of his flock.

Happy are those who are invited to the wedding-feast of the Lamb.

Go within his gates, giving thanks.

  Enter his courts with songs of praise.

  Give thanks to him and bless his name.

Apocalypse 18:1-2,21-23,19:1-3,9 

I, John, saw an angel come down from heaven, with great authority given to him; the earth was lit up with his glory. At the top of his voice he shouted, ‘Babylon has fallen, Babylon the Great has fallen, and has become the haunt of devils and a lodging for every foul spirit and dirty, loathsome bird.’ Then a powerful angel picked up a boulder like a great millstone, and as he hurled it into the sea, he said, ‘That is how the great city of Babylon is going to be hurled down, never to be seen again.

Never again in you, Babylon,

will be heard the song of harpists and minstrels,

the music of flute and trumpet;

never again will craftsmen of every skill be found

or the sound of the mill be heard;

never again will shine the light of the lamp,

never again will be heard

the voices of bridegroom and bride.

Your traders were the princes of the earth,

all the nations were under your spell.

After this I seemed to hear the great sound of a huge crowd in heaven, singing, ‘Alleluia! Victory and glory and power to our God! He judges fairly, he punishes justly, and he has condemned the famous prostitute who corrupted the earth with her fornication; he has avenged his servants that she killed.’ They sang again, ‘Alleluia! The smoke of her will go up for ever and ever.’ The angel said, ‘Write this: Happy are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb’, and he added, ‘All the things you have written are true messages from God.’

இயேசு தம் சீடர்களுக்குக் கூறியது: “அனைத்தும் நடந்தேறுமுன் அவர்கள் உங்களைப் பிடித்துத் துன்புறுத்துவார்கள்; தொழுகைக் கூடங்களுக்குக் கொண்டு செல்வார்கள்; சிறையில் அடைப்பார்கள்; என் பெயரின் பொருட்டு அரசரிடமும் ஆளுநரிடமும் இழுத்துச் செல்வார்கள். எனக்குச் சான்று பகர இவை உங்களுக்கு வாய்ப்பளிக்கும். அப்போது என்ன பதில் அளிப்பது என முன்னதாகவே நீங்கள் கவலைப்பட வேண்டாம். இதை உங்கள் மனத்தில் வைத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள். ஏனெனில் நானே உங்களுக்கு நாவன்மையையும் ஞானத்தையும் கொடுப்பேன்; உங்கள் எதிரிகள் எவராலும் உங்களை எதிர்த்து நிற்கவும் எதிர்த்துப் பேசவும் முடியாது.

ஆனால் உங்கள் பெற்றோரும் சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளும் உறவினர்களும் நண்பர்களும் உங்களைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பார்கள்; உங்களுள் சிலரைக் கொல்வார்கள். என் பெயரின் பொருட்டு எல்லாரும் உங்களை வெறுப்பார்கள். இருப்பினும் உங்கள் தலைமுடி ஒன்றுகூட விழவே விழாது. நீங்கள் மன உறுதியோடு இருந்து உங்கள் வாழ்வைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.”

திருத்தூதர் யோவான் எழுதிய திருவெளிப்பாட்டிலிருந்து வாசகம் 15: 1-4

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

யோவான் என்னும் நான் பெரியதும் வியப்புக்குரியதுமான மற்றோர் அடையாளத்தை விண்ணகத்தில் கண்டேன்: ஏழு வானதூதர்கள் ஏழு வாதைகளைக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். இறுதியான அந்த வாதைகளோடு கடவுளின் சீற்றம் முற்றிலும் தணியும்.

நெருப்போடு கலந்த கண்ணாடிக் கடல் போன்ற ஒன்றையும் கண்டேன். தொடர்ந்து, விலங்கின் மீதும் அதன் சிலை மீதும் எண்ணால் குறிக்கப்பெற்ற அந்த ஆள் மீதும் வெற்றி பெற்றவர்கள், கடவுள் கொடுத்திருந்த யாழ்களை ஏந்திய வண்ணம் கண்ணாடிக் கடல் அருகே நின்றுகொண்டிருக்கக் கண்டேன். அவர்கள் கடவுளின் பணியாளரான மோசேயின் பாடலையும் ஆட்டுக்குட்டியின் பாடலையும் பாடிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்:

“கடவுளாகிய ஆண்டவரே, எல்லாம் வல்லவரே, உம் செயல்கள் பெரியன, வியப்புக்குரியன. மக்களினங்களின் மன்னரே, உம் வழிகள் நேரியவை, உண்மையுள்ளவை. ஆண்டவரே, உமக்கு அஞ்சாதவர் யார்? உமது பெயரைப் போற்றிப் புகழாதார் யார்? நீர் ஒருவரே தூயவர், எல்லா மக்களினங்களும் உம் திருமுன் வந்து வணங்கும். ஏனெனில் உம் நீதிச் செயல்கள் வெளிப்படையாயின.”

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke 21:12-19 

Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Men will seize you and persecute you; they will hand you over to the synagogues and to imprisonment, and bring you before kings and governors because of my name – and that will be your opportunity to bear witness. Keep this carefully in mind: you are not to prepare your defence, because I myself shall give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you will be put to death. You will be hated by all men on account of my name, but not a hair of your head will be lost. Your endurance will win you your lives.’
