O that today you would listen to his voice!

 ‘Harden not your hearts.’

Come, ring out our joy to the Lord;

  hail the rock who saves us.

Let us come before him, giving thanks,

  with songs let us hail the Lord.

  let us kneel before the God who made us:

If you do not speak to the wicked man, I will hold you responsible for his death

A reading from the book of Ezekiel 33:7-9 

The word of the Lord was addressed to me as follows: ‘Son of man, I have appointed you as sentry to the House of Israel. When you hear a word from my mouth, warn them in my name. If I say to a wicked man: Wicked wretch, you are to die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked man to renounce his ways, then he shall die for his sin, but I will hold you responsible for his death. If, however, you do warn a wicked man to renounce his ways and repent, and he does not repent, then he shall die for his sin, but you yourself will have saved your life.’

ஓய்வு நாளில் செய்யக் கூடாததை நீங்கள் செய்வதேன்?

✠ லூக்கா எழுதிய தூய நற்செய்தியிலிருந்து வாசகம் 6: 1-5

ஓர் ஓய்வு நாளில் இயேசு வயல் வழியே செல்ல நேர்ந்தது. அவருடைய சீடர் கதிர்களைக் கொய்து கைகளினால் கசக்கித் தின்றனர். பரிசேயருள் சிலர், “ஓய்வு நாளில் செய்யக் கூடாததை நீங்கள் செய்வதேன்?” என்று கேட்டனர்.

அதற்கு இயேசு மறுமொழியாக, “தாமும் தம்முடன் இருந்தவர்களும் பசியாய் இருந்தபோது, தாவீது செய்ததைக் குறித்து நீங்கள் வாசித்தது இல்லையா? அவர் இறை இல்லத்திற்குள் சென்று, குருக்கள் மட்டுமே அன்றி வேறு எவரும் உண்ணக் கூடாத அர்ப்பண அப்பங்களை எடுத்துத் தாம் உண்டதுமன்றித் தம்மோடு இருந்தவர்களுக்கும் கொடுத்தார் அல்லவா?” என்று கூறினார். மேலும் அவர்களிடம், “ஓய்வு நாளும் மானிட மகனுக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டதே” என்றார்.

கடவுள் உங்களைத் தம்மோடு ஒப்புரவாக்கினார்.

திருத்தூதர் பவுல் கொலோசையருக்கு எழுதிய திருமுகத்திலிருந்து வாசகம் 1: 21-23

சகோதரர் சகோதரிகளே,

முன்பு நீங்கள் இறைவனோடு உறவற்றவர்களாய் இருந்தீர்கள்; அவரைப் பகைக்கும் உள்ளம் உடையோராய்த் தீச்செயல்கள் புரிந்து வந்தீர்கள். இப்பொழுது, நீங்கள் தூயோராகவும் மாசற்றோராகவும் குறைச் சொல்லுக்கு ஆளாகாதோராகவும் தம்முன் விளங்குமாறு ஊனுடல் எடுத்த தம் மகனது சாவின் வழியாகக் கடவுள் உங்களைத் தம்மோடு ஒப்புரவாக்கினார். நீங்கள் நற்செய்தியைக் கேட்டுப் பெற்றுக்கொண்ட எதிர்நோக்கை இழந்துவிடாமல் நம்பிக்கையை அடித்தளமாகக் கொண்டு அதில் உறுதியாக நிலைத்திருங்கள். உலகெங்கும் படைப்பனைத்துக்கும் நற்செய்தி பறைசாற்றப்பட்டுள்ளது. பவுலாகிய நான் இந்நற்செய்தியை அறிவிக்கும் திருத்தொண்டன் ஆனேன்.

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St.Luke 6:1-5 

One sabbath Jesus happened to be taking a walk through the cornfields, and his disciples were picking ears of corn, rubbing them in their hands and eating them. Some of the Pharisees said, ‘Why are you doing something that is forbidden on the sabbath day?’ Jesus answered them, ‘So you have not read what David did when he and his followers were hungry – how he went into the house of God, took the loaves of offering and ate them and gave them to his followers, loaves which only the priests are allowed to eat?’ And he said to them, ‘The Son of Man is master of the sabbath.’
